I don't mind this new lume function, but the watch itself is kinda ugly. Looks like a sports watch manufactured by DW or MVMT. I would prefer a G-Shock. And for the price of this watch, you can actually buy a very decent G-Shock, where you have a lot of functions. 579 $ just for "all time lume" and swiss quartz movement... no.

I do not like even one thing about this watch...and seriously (for the creator) if you wanna feed your kid at night, is knowing the exact time and illumination really that important?? Thats just insane OCD psychosis....The design is really poor aesthetically speaking...the label is over sized and the enduro lume function is overkill and unappealing...plus PVD tends to scratch out really easy...for 100m water resistance the case is too large and makes no sense...it should have a threaded crown and 300m water resistance at least given its proportions...The price is also obnoxious, much better options out there, gonna pass on this one...
@SimonBastien
@SimonBastien 4 жыл бұрын
Seriously, for me this watch is a total joke !! The whole design is really ugly with this black bezel that is way too wide, and has no lume at all. The PAR WEBER logo is so big and ugly, and it takes all the width of the dial, at least they should have put the logo on two lines and use a smaller police for the logo. The Enduro-Lume is completely useless, give me only one good reason to have to LEDs wasting energy from a second battery all day long on daylight !? The Indiglo from Timex or backlight from G-Shock are much better choice, it is more visible when you really need it. They could have used a fully lumed dial and it would have been already a better choice. If you decide to design a tool watch, than try to compare to them in utility, design and price range, because, this ridiculously expensive for what is really. They tried to go traditional design with the analog time display, but chosen a all black design that look-a-like digital watch as G-shock but that is 5 times more expensive and less useful, the choice is really not difficult here sorry !!!

What happens when one of the LEDs goes out? Is it repairable?
@parweber9918
@parweber9918 4 жыл бұрын
Nick, we don't anticipate the LEDs going out for the lifetime of the watch - we expect decades of service. We've laid out the reasons on our FAQ page, but the short of it is: we are running the LEDs at trace amounts of power (less than 1/10,000th of what a standard LED is driven at) which means they are optimized to last for an extremely long time. That said, if there is ever physical damage to the illumination system, it's a replaceable part that we can swap at our workshop. Within warranty this would be free and outside it would be a nominal fee - we anticipate doing it below cost if it ever happens. $40-50 range.

The Enduro-Lume illumination system is made using a new manufacturing process here in the United States, the precision watch components are made in Switzerland, and the timepiece itself is assembled in Switzerland.

It's a tool watch for what, again? It's is insufficient for diving, but appears to want to be one, but the bi-directional, rotating bezel rules that out as well. So, it's not a dive watch. While I can think of a ton of other ways to use the bezel, I'm at a loss for what kind of tool watch this really is. I guess it's simply a design exercise, proof-of-concept for their patent pending illumination tech. As a tool watch guy, I can't figure out what this is really for.

The led is on 24/7 and dual batteries? Sounds like a pain in the ass. Plus leds do die and if they are on 24/7 how long will they really last? Also I don't know why you have such issues with your casios. I have 3 solar powered Protreks and I've never had issues with the batteries. I do store them in a glass topped case so maybe you keep them in the dark too much? Ive got my set to auto 3 secs and they never go below medium power reserve.

The bezel isn't lit. I don't see why they couldn't lume the hands even though there's the illumination. The lights seem faint and have really clear points rather than being less directional, seems they could have done something about that. I'll pass on this one. The Par Weber logo is WAY too big. Kudos on nailing the quartz movement lining up with the chapter ring seconds indices. Very hard to do that properly and only my Casio Oceanus S100, and Casio Duro line up perfectly (and I suspect the Duro is a one-off in that respect). I also like how they've separated the light battery from the movement battery, which is probably why it's 14mm thick. NOT suitable for military environments as the ever-present lighting on it will interfere with NVS ("nods") as well as noise/light discipline in deployed environments but perfect for work anywhere else. I think this is more or less a tech demo for their Enduro-Lume tech, which if he's patented it and it is proven to glow constantly over the next 3 years might just get licensed by other manufacturers such as Casio, Citizen, Seiko, etc. Would have been just a bit better had there been two hatches on the rear to make it easy to replace both batteries by the end-user however there's no way he could have gotten 100m w/r on that combo. My Marathon Navigator is the new model with a battery hatch in it and it can't do 100m either. I'm interested in what the internals look like and how he arranged the two batteries. Any chance the end user could unscrew the case back off and replace them themselves, or are there additional screwed-in brackets or other things in the way of the batteries? I hope he continues to improve on this with an eye towards making it slimmer. LEDs are the way to go. I replaced all the lighting on my entire motorcycle - to include the gauge cluster - with LEDs and it was a huge improvement in visibility and bulb longevity.

But in people's minds it gives the watch a shelf life thinking the led:s may stop working more so since they never turn off. You should make the watch with and without LED's. Even though the led seems to be the reason for making the watch and starting the company. Either way, however you got here you are now a watch making company. I hope that this watch / brand are successful because it’d be very cool to see future iterations of this concept and lume methodology. I actually think the watch dial, handset, and overall design is quite nice; I do however have some reservations about the size of that bezel and lack of a screw-down crown on a watch that, while it may not be designed as a pure dive watch, certainly borrows that form... Very unique however, and innovative.

Cool lume concept. I'd like to see in the future an enduro-lume that kicks on in the evening and throughout the night, then turns off after sunrise. And, just in case someone needs the lume during daylight hours, a small button to disable the "auto-off," thus leaving the lume on constantly like what we see here. I think this would significantly lengthen the life of the enduro-lume battery. Edit: Just to add some criticism, for $579, this should be a dive watch, with a screw-down crown, min. 200m water resistance, and a lumed unidirectional bezel (even better would be an internal bezel, illuminated by the LEDs!!!). This is a chunky watch, and the enduro-lume function would be most useful for divers.

Would have been cooler if the "enduro-lume" had more modes: 1) Always On 2) Shake to Activate 3) Off, so I can choose when and how often it lights up. It would increase overall battery life much more. Would be even better if this were solar, too. I'm also not a big fan of how it looks and the price tag, but I'd like to see more watches with this enduro-lume tech.

par weber on the dial needs to be a lot smaller, like the price. Are there any micro brands that start under $500 any more?

Enduro lume is really cool to me, I'm just not a fan of the watch itself. It's expensive enough where I think you'd have to love the look as well as the enduro lume to justify the price.

I was sceptical at first but the more I think about the more I like it. I hope in future versions they can extende the battery. Imagine this with a Citizen EcoDrive.

Hello, I don't know why but This WEBER makes me think about WELDER K series... ...but if you love it that's OK for me. For the price, I prefer a automatic Seiko or Tissot. Bye.

I like the looks and the intent with which this was designed. $600+ is a little much for my pocket right now though. I'd love to see a field watch variant.

I'd personally take the Endure Lume feature anywhere (not the watch tho). And yes this company should develop it even further for another application. Everyone's taste is different, and to like this watch as a whole needs an acquired taste I know. But I don't think we should burn the whole watch down just because we don't like it ._. We have to appreciate the originality of this watch, and who know Enduro-Lume would be recorded in the history of horology in the near future. I mean LEDs that always lit and it takes the battery 4 years until it has to be replaced? That's quite impressive imho

I like the overall design which is practical and a bit playful. I even like the novel lume system which is kind of cool. If it is priced at 200 dollars, I'd happy to buy two.

I think this would be nice for a field watch (or a diver), no buttons and if you had to you could just wear a watch cover and the lume would still work when you needed it. I think it would be better, though, with a screw-down crown, a prettier design and a more reasonable price.

Would be great if the 0 marker lit up. Like the lume function though. Excellent for a true divers watch that actually go diving. Superluminova and the others just aren’t the same. Use a watch as a back-up but mainly rely on my dive computer. Cool lume mechanism .

It doesn't have a screw down crown so water resistance probably isn't it'd strong suit.

I love the look of the watch. It is for sure deferent then any other tool watch out on the market. The lume idea on the watch A+ for sure. Very original!! The price now not so much. I can see $375 maybe $400. I love the watch!! Good luck.

I REALLY like the Enduro-Lume, its certainly a great idea. A list of improvements however: 1. Price: this is probably the most obvious improvement, this damn thing costs a LOT. For the price, Seiko and many other brands beat it besides the Enduro Lume. 2. Screw down crown. If a watch is supposed to be a tool watch, it should be a screw down crown. Period. End of story. That is my personal opinion, however. An Enduro Lume diver would be incredible, and given a screw down crown, I would even argue the price would be worth it. Electroluminescence is probably the most legible lume ever, but water resistance is the one factor that keeps it out of divers, and I'd argue a diver with this would be the most legible diver ever.

I like that it uses a separate battery for the EL lighting. The look is kind of cool. I think the inability to turn it on and off is a downside. I seriously don't think you've gotten over the embarrassment of that Timex video involving Indiglo. Yes I want to be able to see the time in the dark if I need to. No I don't want a nightlight sitting on my night stand. No offense, but claiming 100m water resistance with a pull-out crown is just asking for trouble. Finally, there's the price. There's not a chance I'd pay that much for that watch. I don't object to quartz, but for anything in that price range, it's going to be from an established company like Seiko or Citizen or heck, Timex.

Nah, this is a real miss Jory. A dive watch with a bidirectional bezel is a recipe for disaster, but it's not as if anyone is going to going diving with this watch. I am really surprised you didn't tear this watch apart given your usual good taste and practicality.
