Hi Dr Mistry, this video & others have been so helpful, thank you so much! I had my first TMJ flare four days ago and it's no kidding. I made an appointment w/a TMJ specialist, but it's in four days and I really needed to find more ways to manage the pain as ibuprofen and eating soft foods aren't taking it away. I truly appreciate how to stretches and I felt they're helping already! I was going to a chiropractor once or twice a month until last November due cervical radiculopathy and sinusitis. I have an office job, an under & cross bite, and use retainers at night. It seems she was helping things from escalating as now after a stressful couple of weeks this happened. I'm spending my whole afternoon watching your videos as I really want to sleep tonight. I haven't had a goodnight's sleep since the onset. Thank you!

I'd suggest using alternating hot and cold packs. 10 to 15 minutes at a time for each pack. For me most of the time heat helps with my TMJD (I've had since 1999). Try listening to meditation/hypnosis or sleep story videos here on KZbin. The calmer you can stay in life, even when the pain flares up, the less pain you will have and the shorter the duration of the flare. Reduce stress as much as you can, take time for yourself and give yourself a break when feeling tired or when the pain overwhelms you. Another thing that helped me was to have therapeutic ultrasound on my jaw joints and my temples and to get massages (or learn self massage) to release tension my body held onto. I hope you are able to find relief, Blessings, Dot

Thsnk you, i can really appreciate someone who is trying to help this excruciating condition. The hardest part in the videos ive watched so far is releasing the masseter. For some reason I can barely pinch it. It almost feels like bone. I tried to get relief by crushing it front to back and follow the pain almost to my ear in a spiral from the outside. Would give 2 days relief but is so painful i became reluctant. For some reason i can get relief three years later by a modified pec doorway stretch with a little modification of a side bend. What a complicated area! Thank you!

Thank you so much Dr. Mistry!! I'll keep this saved!!! Question for you though, are there exercises you suggest NOT doing when you have trapezius and tmj issues? For example when I do some workouts such as simple arm circles they hurt my trapezius (maybe bc it is allways stressed due to tmjd)and I skip that one and others. I really want to work out but I don't want to aggravate the tmj and trapezius.
