I am currently homeless I have a four year old son. Our house burnt down we lost everything we had and it's been the toughest 5 months of my life. Realizing I had no true friends and maybe 2 family members I could talk to I turned to this song for moral support again and again and again at this moment but to hear and see it from the very one who wrote it sing it makes me feel like I'm not alone in this hellish journey i feel most days Ill never conquer. Thank You guys for such an inspirational view on such a horrible situation. God Bless You and everyone who can relate as close as my son and I can❣️

I'm so sorry about your troubles, in February 23 2004 my house burnt, my wife and I have 10 children. We turned to God, we depended on Him for everything, we didn't have insurance, we were told it was too old. We worked on it night and day, 9 months later we moved back. It wasn't finished, but it was livable. July 6th 2005, I was laid off, from a job, I had 20 years there, didn't take them 30 minutes to walk me out of the building. No notice, nothing, God got us through. Turn to God my friend, he is the answer. God Bless.

I seen 3 dislikes up there,, anyone that would dislike Travis Meadows songs and singing truly doesn't know anything at all about country music, this man is a better singer than 99% of those singing on the radio and can write songs that if you can't feel them then you have no feelings,, he may have seen ups and downs during his life but through it all God blessed Travis and those of us that love real country music love Travis Meadows!

@Sif3r
@Sif3r 3 жыл бұрын
@@mclagett1043 You can cancel a thumbs down. What people can't cancel is being a bell end. The problem is the way the whole KZbin system is rated and people being idiots. Dislike something, it will take it into account. Watch a lot of country and it's going to recommend it, even if you dislike it. That and there are bots that auto dislike. Either way, stop worrying about the people who dislike it and think about what YOU like. If someone doesn't agree with you, who gives a flying fuck? YOU like it!

There are a lot of accidental clicks on sites like these, especially when someone is trying to do something like hit the thumbs up on their smartphone while they're out and about, etc. No way to know why a dislike was clicked here or other reactions are clicked elsewhere. I personally don't like the thumbs down or dislike feature. Here on KZbin, I never pay attention to how many dislikes a video has. I get that it's probably meaningul for the algorithms, etc., but I'm pretty darn ignorant about how all that works.

Just when I believed I couldn't relate more to a song than I did "sideways"...this one was so powerful in the way....a quiet oak stands sturdy and strong. I often feel more like a weeping willow in Gail force winds. This song caught me in a moment when I just needed the quiet strength of a stranger I've never met and don't know, but through his experiences and understated prose I feel oddly less alone. Thank you again Mr. MEADOWS. ❤ from Alaska

Travis, you are amazing and I am a brand spankin new fan as of today. You are truly the best songwriter I think going today. I see and hear you as a great folk singer songwriter like a Woodie Guthrie of today more than country. I am not even a country fan, unless it is classic vintage country with no flash and polish, not even on your boots, that kind of country, but you my friend makes me love country. I just want to be in a smokey bar, drinking a long slow whiskey, smoking a cigarette (and I don't even smoke) listening to you sing til wee hours on the morning. BTW, your song Sideways, is truly a brilliant song. I turned other people on to you today and all of them had the same reaction as I did, where did he come from? I don't know, all I know is I am glad you did, oh btw your pedal string player.....world class my friend! Fan for life!

Damn, this fellow deserves way more recognition then he currently gets. His voice carries such a raw and powerful emotion. It's evident that he's deeply invested in whatever he's singing about, and as a result I become deeply invested too. That doesn't happen to me with a lot of other country artists today.

I first heard this song sung by Dierks Bentley and I thought it was amazing-it reminded me of my own strength. But now, when I hear Travis Meadows sing it, there is a whole other dimension to it. It holds all the original strength, love, and emotions behind the words. I am no longer just thinking about me and mine. It’s like when you watch a movie as a kid and you love it but you don’t realize that there are all these creative and meaningful references and jokes, until you watch it again when you are older and have more context. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with the world. ❤

That was fucking awesome !.... A really great song bro....I love where this is coming from...Years ago I saw Dirks Bentley sing this on Letterman....He did an "unplugged" version (sitting down with no drums and a guy on mandolin keeping time with a picking figure ) and it was fantastic....... I was told he was one of the "Bro Country" artists that everybody was bitching about.....But he was the only Bro Country artist I had ever heard and this is the only song of his I ever heard...I was floored.......I was looking for the Letterman video and couldn't find it but I saw your video "Live Acoustic Performance" and that's how I wanted to hear the song....Now I find that he didn't write it, you did....You knocked it out of the park with this tune buddy.....I'm going to listen to it again....and post it on my FB page...
