Hi! This is Stephanie! My tank was the 2nd one in your vid :) Thank you for featuring it! The sand in Charlie's tank is Caribsea Super Naturals sand in Sunset Gold. I also love how it looks! Since that those pics, I have taken out the small platform under the basking box and some of the smaller pieces of drift wood to give him a little more space. :)

I have an outdoor 50 gal RES tank and it GOT GREEN! I have 2 top filter box and 1 pump. The water goes in the first box with submersible UV bulb, then it drops to the second box with filter floss, lava rocks, ceramic balls and pothos plant. The UV took care of the green water! It cleared up overnight. I regularly scrape the algae on the glass, fishnet out the big chunks and filter floss takes care of the smaller algae and waste. My baby is 3 yrs old now 😍

Thank you so much for featuring my 90 gallon tank (the 4th one). ☺️ The basking area is indeed a planter. At first I drilled small holes in it for fishes to hide, but recently I’ve made bigger holes so my turtle could have more space to swim. And it’s a bottle brush!! 😂 I saw on my Facebook turtle group that a lot of owners use this so the turtle can scratch herself which helps with scrutes. Not sure Kauai understands the concept yet but I’m sure it will come. 😅

Maybe you can help me as I can't find a ton of information or guidance. I have a northern map turtle that was given to me by a friend that could no longer care for it. He has severe shell damage, and his shell has curved upwards around the edges. I immediately took him to the vet she gave me some calcium to give him and stated that his shell would never get better but there are things I can do to make him more comfortable. I set him up in a 20 gal tank with a basic 20gal filter, basking rock, UV light and basking light. His water is heated to 80 degrees f. I just feel awful for him and don't know how else I can help to make sure he's comfortable. He eats pellets currently and I plan to get some live aquatic plants (he wont take to veggies or fruits) as I'm worried a high protein diet will make his shell worse. Any tips or advice would be great.

Fyi, Texas map turtles are one of the smaller species of map turtles (if not the smallest); females on average are 5 to 6" SCL and males are 3 to 4" SCL. So that male Texas map is not stunted at all.

This is true! The person didn't state the exact species though, just the that _name_ is Tex...he could very well be a Texas map but I prefer not to assume :)

Hi I am the last tank in this video. The basking area is the Thrive Turtle Elevated basking loft from Petsmart. I also modded it by adding some reptile carpet with zip ties so it made the ramp easier for the turtle to climb, and the floor safer so his claws wouldn't get stuck in the mesh.

Try some Seachem Purigen in your filter. Also make sure you have some very fine mechanical filtration. Filter pads or polyfil work great for it. In addition to that, make sure you're using either an air pump or a wave maker to get your water moving. It helps make your filter more effective.
@skeeter96842 ай бұрын
I use an fx4 and an fx2 in one tank. Why 2 filters instead of just 1 fx6? Because if one filter breaks, atleast I have the other while I replace the one. When I set up the 200g I will likely have a large sump.

Meanwhile me with No filter🤭 I mean I’m new to this whole turtle thing and I have a baby turtle northern map turtle in an aquarium of 30 liters, but only half full of water, I have a heater, a uvb, she (I hope it’s a she because her name is Shella and I will not change it) has a basking area in the aquarium and many small rocks on the bottom. I asked at the pet shop if I need a filter and they said that a filter wouldn’t stand up to the waste and that I should use those small rocks and the waste will go under and that she will not swim in her own mess. Also she likes to eat her own mess. I do feed her! She has 5 different types of food (small fish, pallet, some very small balls, lyophilized heart and those small shrimp from Gammarus). I love her very much and it’s a joy for me when she sees me and comes to the surface (or she hides behind the heater, it’s a complicated relationship). I’m thinking if I should get a filter or not (I already invested very much in her setup and if it’s possible I wouldn’t want to make another purchase) and I don’t know exactly how a filter works and what to change or anything about a filter. The water it’s clear and it doesn’t smell. I use 2 solutions for the water, one for chlorine and the second for that disgusting slime from above the water. Please don’t judge a poor turtle mother if I’m in the wrong😢 I have her for 2 months already and she seems happy and I’m very happy that I got her

Stop feeding the shrimp and worms for a few days. Then take the pellets and soak them in some water from a can of tuna. That should make them smell yummy and he should eat them. Do that for a few days then he should start eating the pellets without the tuna water. I found this tip online when my turtle was a hatchling and wouldn't eat her pellets only would eat the dried shrimp. Hope this helps.
