Eddie, the first 3 or so weeks is the hardest part with your body getting used to no carbs, no fibre. Your back end is likely going to get angry, things can get explosive and free. Get through that and make sure you eat until you are not hungry. Stick to the 90 days and you should have a good idea of things. I had IBS, carnivore, it's gone. My knees used to make crunchy sounds when I crouched down, gone. The big win for me is the IBS, all that pain gone. I've gone off the carnivore diet, eaten some plants etc... as soon as I get that fibre back in I feel like shit and back to pain. All the best with this.

@crypticxxii4 ай бұрын
I don't think the fibre causes any problems, I'd say it is all the toxins from plants that our bodies have not evolved to digest. If you look at the animal kingdom you see that plant eaters eat very specific plants because their bodies have evolved to break down the toxins of that particular plant, that is why I'm convinced vegetables are bad for you, and lets not forget nutrition from plants is far less bioavailable than from meat and other animal products. I haven't eaten any vegetables in many months and my gut feel a lot better without it.

@@bobz4968it's important to understand that carnivore is both an ancestral way of eating and an elimination diet. Dairy is still an animal product just like eggs even though neither are meat and a carnivore would definitely eat eggs. It's more about the principle of what is the natural human diet. The point of the diet is also to just eliminate all food groups besides whole meat to fix your issues and see what you can handle because animal meat and fat are 95%-98% absorbed so it's the most optimal thing your body is designed to metabolize. After you get there u can experiment adding back in things like dairy, eggs, butter etc.

I'm about 40 days into Carnivore, lost another stone, and fats just melted off. I've tried all kinds of diets over the years, but this one in terms of pure fat loss is superior, hands down. I only started it to fix my IBS issues, a bit of an elimination diet to see what was causing it. Now I'm also going to do 90 days as I feel great, then slowly start to add foods back in. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all you do, keep being awesome and good luck with the new diet. Carl Griffiths

My background is as a former Weightlifter and Powerlifter for Canada, now more of a Hybrid type athlete while serving in the military. Some advice to consider as you move forward: 1) Digestion will improve with time, as your gut gets more accustomed to more animal foods while no longer craving or wanting the sugars and carbs. 2) Performance (strength and conditioning) will improve as you go along. You will get more efficient with storing extra protein as glycogen through Gluconeogensis and improve the ability mobilize fat for fuel. 3) You may find after some time that reducing the amount of dairy allows you to feel more mentally clear and less inflamed. See how you feel on days without any dairy. I personally find I can warm up for training about 75% faster and mobility is improved. 4) As you get leaner you may find your appetite increases as you have less excess bodyfat to use. This applies more to obese people and those who struggle to eat enough, but overall you're doing very well with total caloric intake. Best of luck and looking forward to your experiences shared and what we can all learn from yours.

I did a similar diet a few years back, 14 weeks, no Sugar and only complex carbs about 40g per day, Breakfast was 2 eggs + 4 eggs whites and either salmon or kippers mid morning was protein shake with full fat milk and an banana, lunch was pot of cottage cheese with tuna, or chicken breast, mid afternoon another protein shake with full fat milk, dinner was steak, liver or chicken with either sweet potato, broccoli, green beans or brussel sprouts, night snack was beef jerky or pepperamis, and finally an 8 hour slow release protein shake before bed around 10pm all together was around 2.5k - 3k calories and 300g protein and Ive never felt better than when I was on it though the flavour fatigue was horrendous. After about 14 weeks I visited an elderly relative that made me a cup of tea and an rich tea biscuit (felt obliged to eat one) , the first sugar I had in 14 weeks and it tasted like just pure sugar, it nearly blew my head off, one of the most simple, plain tasting cookies you can get and it tasted like pure sugar...always remember that, Ive been on an minimal sugar / carb diet ever since, though not as much protein now.

FYI Milk still has bunch of carbs (=sugar) regardless of it being an animal-derived food, that's why most carnivores exclude milk from the dairy list, those whom eat dairy in the first place. Dairy is only for those who can tolerate it and keep the consumption of it in check which is not easy. Milk contains lactose which turns into sugar in the body. It is what it is. I don't know how Eddie would be affected by drinking milk every day on such a low-carb diet because of course he is not physiologically normal compared to most people, but for most milk is inflammatory and disrupts hunger signaling (you'll get more hungrier).
@JT-yx7vf4 ай бұрын
If you are European descent (meaning a White person) you will most likely have zero issues with Milk, because they evolved consuming it for thousands of years, as opposed to people from Africa or Asia who did not and therefore are usually lactose intolerant.

25% protein on carnivor turn into sugar so milk its not a problem
@jeCktHeReal4 ай бұрын
@@JT-yx7vf wrong. You'll never have "zero issues" with milk, it contains a lot of contraindicative exogenous carbohydrates in form of lactose. Those who can break down lactose are still eating ~50 grams of sugar with each liter of milk they consume. Cutting out sugar (exogenous carbs) out of one's diet and using fats as fuel instead WILL make them healthier. Not to mention the mixing of fats and carbs = overly active Randle-cycle inside one's body will lead to problems like a raise in triglycerides, getting fat etc. That's why milk is not a good food to consume, it is a dessert and although it's much healthier than most other types of desserts it is still one.
@jeCktHeReal4 ай бұрын
@@jakubosika2832 wrong. 25% of what protein? Everyone has their own ideal daily protein intake based on their age and their lean body mass (young and old people need more protein than adults). If one would eat more protein than that for a long enough period the body would not be able to use or store the protein, in which case it would turn into sugar in the bloodstream and one could get diabetes from that, I think that's what you were trying to point out? That still doesn't excuse consuming milk, since it contains a high amount of dietary sugar (exogenous carbohydrates). Any grams of exogenous carbohydrates are contraindicative for human consumption as the body will make it's own carbohydrates from fatty-acids and amino-acids, whilst dietary sugar will raise glucose in the blood which kicks in the production of insulin to help keep the blood glucose down, insulin resistance etc etc. Milk is dessert. You should not have dessert if you are looking for optimal health.

You're not really doing a carnivore diet, Eddie... Your supplements are plant-based, and probably their sugar-carb content is high. Besides - being a carnivore means you're adjusting your body-hunger-metabolism to eat 1-2 a day. at the most 3 times. So having protein-supplement shakes in between is increasing your meals... Also - the dairy products you're having are high in carbs. Dr Shawn Baker offered to help you in your journey (check his videos, a few days ago he did a short one about the fact that you are changing into a carnivore diet). You also said that you need to take your supplements because, on a carnivore diet, you won't get enough vitamins and minerals, etc - WRONG! you get EVERYTHING from muscle meat and eggs, and you absolutely don't need supplements, unless you have a severe metabolic problem... The only 'supplement' you need to up in a carnivore diet is your salt (not table salt), and probably, in your case as an athlete, electrolytes. A carnivore diet will definitely do you good, but it needs to be done properly and it needs to be understood. Seek for Dr Shawn Baker's advice. All the best :)

People start to realize there's not a ton of calories if you're just eating meat. Which is why it works great for women. Hence their requirement for all the fats via butter, cheese, and dairy . It's the ladder three that many initially have some issues with as they aren't used to that much fat or butter and their diets. Of course, there are healthy fats you can use instead However it makes it that much harder . However, if you're having any issues that don't seem to resolve themselves, medically, I would seriously consider a carnivore diet. Or go to one meal a day with keto diet, which is easier and absolutely the same for weight loss. The pure carnivore has better effect on medical issues issues like autoimmune

YELL F… YESSS! I was waiting for one of you to hop on the carnivore train as many athletes did recently. I’ve been on the carnivore diet for almost six months now (meat, eggs, cheese only), and it’s been life-changing in many ways! My energy levels are much better and more consistent throughout the day. I sleep better, feel less depressed, and have less brain fog during work hours. I’m genuinely happier, and people around me have noticed. I’ve gone from 87kg to 74kg and am gaining muscle even though I’m not exercising much. My digestion is totally fine-no gas, discomfort, or anything like that. I craved sugar like a pregnant woman for the first couple of months, but now I don’t care about it anymore. I like to keep some fat in my meals to increase calories when I’m quite hungry, but overall, my daily food intake is one snack (4-5 eggs) and one meal (600g to 1kg of meat), which works fine for me. It can be expensive when you buy proper steak, but ground beef with 15% fat from the market is okay most of the time. Good eggs are important, though. I had a bit of an electrolyte problem around months 3 to 4, with cramps at night, but that’s gone now. I drink at least 2 liters of water a day and don’t add any salt, even though some people recommend it. I haven’t had any vitamin issues except maybe in the first month. I don’t take any supplements. I haven’t cheated a single day except for four occasions with alcohol-but not too much. I’d recommend whisky, which has fewer carbs than beer or wine, for those who still want to enjoy some social moments. Overall, I recommend this diet to anyone who’s committed to it, but you need to stick with it for at least 2-3 months to really feel the changes. So if I'm eating a pound of ground beef I might include 0.16oz of liver. I'll also include a bunch of tallow and or butter. MAYbe some other organs. Our ancestors would also reserve particular organs for the very young, the elderly or the sick. So, not EVERYone in the Tribe would partake of every bit of organ...

I've also heard a lot of people say as long as it's 70% of calories from animal foods it can be classed as carnivore. Not all carnivores believe all plants are toxic and are out to get us. Even wolves, bears and some other carnivorous animals eat plants in small amounts. If you're eating higher protein, your body will also convert some of it to glucose which will also spike insulin. Carnivore can look a few different ways, not just high fat keto.
@dirkmoolman2 ай бұрын
@Lieutenant-Dan carnivores who eat plants, are ketogenic, not carnivore. Keto = low carb, high fat ... from animals. Keto = some plants.
@Lieutenant-Dan2 ай бұрын
@@dirkmoolman that's completely false. You can be on carnivore with very small amounts of plants and still not be keto. Keto just means you're eating high enough fat with low enough protein and carbs in order to stay in ketosis, that's it. It can be with or without plants. Sounds like you're making up your own definitions of what the "carnivore" and "keto" diets are. You can also be on either diet and still use supplements.

Been carnivore for about a year and i buy as cheaply as i can, buy my meat from a bulk retailer and its half the price or less than if i bought from a standard grocery. If you have a local butcher use them because they will always have cheaper options! dont just assume you need the expensive stuff because you dont!

Carbohydrates makes you more hungrier due to the insulin spikes. Hence why a lot of people get fatter because they consume to many Carbohydrates.

@@eezy251able your point was that carbs makes you hungry and fat and it's wrong because complex carbs and especially fiber play a big role in satiety.

@@jousis_ all carbohydrates are the same. Yes an apple might digest better due to the fibre etc rather than drinking Apple juice. Protein and fats react different to carbohydrates (sugar) that's my point. I'm mean if you want to debate everything regarding nutrition we'd he here all week.

It appears the insulin spikes is also what facilitates weight gain _at all_ but I need to see more info to be confident of that statement.

Love this gent. I have trained with strong big guys both working out and mma. The strength is insane, but I am a weirdo and love the challenge. Muscle likes to tire out. My only share for Brother Hall is push mental and physical endurance. I would compete and then still jog/run 5-8 miles. I would then afterward do the half push up hold 5 times till half hangs on pull ups 5 times till failure then till drop. I never wanted the skinny guy at the dojo beat me because of my muscle. I had to pick and choose when I would burst. You're going to have a blast. You have this brother

@@Felale Scientifically an omnivorous diet is a natural human diet. We have weak fingernails, weak jaw muscles and frugivore canines which reflect our anatomical kinship to other frugivores and is a stark difference to carnivore only animals. I think for someone like Eddie or Mitch you would be hindering yourself eating a carnivore diet when trying to train for maximum performance. Most people get in shape on carnivore purely because your cutting carbs and meat is much more satiating so its a lot easier to be in a deficit without even trying.
