Tom's fast technical punch, which is apparently extremely repeatable too, is pretty much as powerful as Eddie running into a Hail Mary. That is pretty scary.
@mikehawk69187 ай бұрын
This machine doesn't measure power. When we talk about punching power, we're essentially talking about kinetic energy, which is just mass and velocity. The machine has a laser inside, and the bag's arm interrupts the laser, and that's how the score is calculated. Meaning, the machine only measure the speed of the bag, nothing else. That's why kicks got a lower score, even though they should be 2x as powerful as a punch, because they simply move the bag slower. An easy way to cheat is to punch the bag up at an 45 degree angle, instead of forward, to give it more upwards velocity from the start.

Jabs and inside leg kick is what he is known for to have that control. He is not know for the hardest puncher or kicker ever. There are kickbox guys relying on 1 ko punch or kick, but on the contrary they lack stamina. So if that change is not there in the match they probably loose. But Rico is overall good: technically, stamina, defense, he can surive getting punced and kicked, he is smart when to do what as well and sometimes he can pull off the ko. Thats why he is the best at this time.

These machines have always been the same. A light sensor that measures how fast it passes through. The faster you send it on an upward arc, the higher it will score. That's why most people punch high and down through the bottom edge of the ball. It doesn't measure power, it measures angular momentum.
@exile08317 ай бұрын
I think Marc Rober did this in his winning arcade games with engineering video. Just use a card with a slot cut out of it to trip the light sensor. So when they were saying it was about speed at the beginning was totally correct.

It's cool to see these guys hit the thing. Wouldn't want to get hit by any of them. Rico's explosiveness is lovely! I'm no expert, but I think having the total of energy going "straight" on the ball will benefit, instead of going in any form of angle. Any deviation will be slower in it's trajectory upwards. As far as I am aware, fighters don't train to go "straight", but to hit a person properly.

The Machine measures Force (most likely how much the ball is accelerated), Newton's second law is stated as F=ma, which means the force (F) acting on an object is equal to the mass (m) of an object times its acceleration (a). So the quicker "whippier" the hit with equal mass the bigger the force excerted on the ball. Or the higher the mass with the same acceleration the bigger the force on the ball. Eddie has a mass advantage in punching that the boys can't seem to overcome with their speed and experience. With kicks it is a total different story.

Force is mass times acceleration (F = m*a) is the key formula here. The ball's acceleration forwards is a product of the fist pushing it and the speed with which you do that. It doesn't care about the values of either, just the multiplication. If a grain of sand was launched at the ball at near light-speed it would explode with the power of a 1000 hiroshima bombs.
@earlblakemacleod13115 ай бұрын

@leadleftgotslept7 ай бұрын
These machines do measure impact, but record it differently due to the mechanics of the machine. For instance, the same punch at a slightly downward angle vs a slightly upper angle, should produce different & noticeable results in favor of the upper angled punch. So add a slightly upper angle to your dominant hand when attempting. Therefore, punching up & into the bag results in the machine's arm increasing it's natural mechanical momentum and thus increasing overall velocity and final result.
