It’s been a year, does he still believe this theory? It’s easy to prove/disprove, just look at the DNA of cancers and see if they all have the same mutations that cause uncontrolled growth, invasion and spreading. Guess what? Some cancers have no mutations at all. I think Dr Seyfried’s theory (or Dr Warburg’s) is most likely true. As the mitochondrial damage increases the cancer becomes more aggressive and uses less ketones and fatty acids. At one point it’s a full cancer and can only ferment glucose and glutamine, which probably corresponds to a mitochondrial functional score of 2 or less. The odd fact is that the mitochondrial controls these behaviors of the host cells. How did this occur? Such a complex control mechanism just evolved 2 billion years ago?

Dr Fung has literally saved my life. My A1C in March was 9.5. I was on 2000 mg of metformin, on Farxiga, and 1 mg of Ozempic and it was still that bad. I started to do IF (16:8) DAILY without fail. I just went to my endo and my A1C is 5.5... on GOD. My doctor was UTTERLY shocked. My liver function went to normal, my lipid panel normalized, and my kidney function is normal. My doctor has told me to halve my ozempic. Goal is to stop metformin, farxiga, entirely. I might have to keep my BP meds maybe because I am older and older people have naturally high BP anyway.

Dr. Fung talks about “bread & jam”- I’m mostly one meal a day. But I had houseguests who when they departed they left a jar of blackberry jam and English Muffins. At the end of my meal, I thought, “Yum” (even tho I don’t keep this stuff in my house), and I had two muffins with generous portions of the jam. The next morning I awoke in a drunken-like fog with didn’t lift until the afternoon. Lesson learned.

I can't recall a single youtube vid where the smart doctor nevertheless covered his/her arse by saying 'speak to your doctor' --- it's a Catch 22 -- if our personal GP's don't bother to learn the latest stuff, asking them for guidance which aligns with the latest research is low.

2:54 = Excellent question Jesse -- If we consider that most medical professionals working in the field today were educated (at the very least) 25 years ago, you can see where a clinician's bias' will sit. Once someone begins practice, the amount of time they have to constantly review new research, evidence and adjust their treatments is limited. Plus, as most countries have an overarching 'Standard of Care' logic, which means that even if a physician WANTS to vary treatment because of emerging evidence, they open themselves to law suits (both from the medical establishments and patients). Similar elements at play with dieticians and nutritionists -- when did they train and what was the logic of the day (e.g. low fat, calorie in / calorie out) ... the ONLY option is for the individual to arm themselves with the most recent research - and we do this through people like Jason Fung.

You have a farm and animals maybe if we all did it would be a bit easier to want to prep. I believe in Jesus and am saved , I am trusting Him to help us in those dark times as He has all these years. I am storing some food, water. Will grow a garden , learning to make bread soon as our one daughter has learned to make sourdough . I get sad and depressed 😔 as we all struggle with but Jesus helps pull me out back into the light. It's funny as I have a hair appointment tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your heart with us. Remember God takes and teaches us at different rates, takes things away maybe not all at once we in America have been spoiled for so long so holding on to my hair stylist til we can no longer go 😮 maybe barter 😅😅😅 I heard you and it makes sense thank you and God bless ❤🙏🏿🥰

If you're eating at a deficit will you still store fat when you eat say 5 times a day. Also what it you fast 16 hours and those 5 meals come in your 8 hour eating window? I restrict calories for 2 days (about the half the calories I need) and then have a maintenance day, I fast 16 hours everyday. When on my maintenance days it's hard to eat all the food in 3 meals. And the reason I do the maintenance day is because I wasn't losing weight while eating 600 calories under my maintenance weight.
