Really interesting, I like the longer videos. Always amazes me what people think is acceptable to donate to charity
@TheUltimateRecycler26 күн бұрын
Thanks Ed, I'm glad you found it interesting. Some people just don't care and see it as an easy way to get rid of stuff they need to dispose of!!

Generally, a bread machine mixes first, then rests for the yeast to proof, then a second mix (think kneading), and finally heats up for the baking cycle. Thanks for sharing

Ah, that makes sense! Thanks Cynthia! 😊👍

Hi Chris, I have had similar experiences with stuff donated to op-shops. When I lived elsewhere there was a nearby op-shop I used to donate my time to. Anything electrical I would take away and test/sort. Only about 10% made it straight into the shop. Another 10% I would repair, the remaining 80% would end up in their skip bin. Leaky jugs, filthy sandwich presses and straight out broken/smashed things. Madness - or at least madening.

33:56, Think you’ll find that the white piece of plastic was for the base of the Large Desktop Telephone to make it sit at an angle, I could be wrong but it looks like it to me!

Great video as always Chris, any content on saving landfill is worth doing, especially when Coco is in them . I hope you have the bubbles on ice ready to celebrate Christines milestone soon. Have a safe Christmas

Thanks Faye! Yeah, she's getting excited for the big 100k! Perhaps I should get her to record a video after some bubbles! 🤣🤣

Back before Goodwill took over the market, there was a lot of Ewaste looking for a home. When I was in high-school, my friends and I were known tech-heads. Friends and family used to give it all to us to mess about with. Computers, tvs, old Vcrs, record players. We had lots of good junk to play with. But these days everyone dumps it at the donation store and sell it it at top dollar.

Sounds like good memories mate, mucking around with tech stuff with your mates! I'm sure you picked up some handy skills doing that - and no doubt saved some cool items!

Most of those homemaker/anko branded appliances are $15 brand new. They are from Kmart/Target.
@TheUltimateRecycler23 күн бұрын
Yep, I knew they were cheapies and I've been informed by a few of you now that they are a kmart/target brand. They still should sell well tested for $5!

Dropping broken lamps off at the Thrift shop = shady business! 😂 Saved from the landfill. 👍

That was good to watch Chris. Pity that people use the charity shops as rubbish tips (can only guess that their line of thought is that they, the doner, need the charity - can't afford the disposal fees ).
@TheUltimateRecycler23 күн бұрын
Thanks Katrina. I think some are just lazy and it's easier for them to just dump everything in one spot and let someone else sort it out!

First time seeing one of your videos. Great information. When you say transfer station is that the same as a landfill
@TheUltimateRecycler26 күн бұрын
Thanks, and welcome Dennis! The local transfer station has crates for ewaste which go off to some Melbourne recycling place where I believe they are recycled to a degree - I'm not sure how much is actually saved, but at least it all doesn't go straight to landfill.

Op shop volunteer specialising in test and tag here; people don't seem to realise that 1. It costs the charity shop to dispose of donated rubbish, and 2. most people working in the op shop are volunteers, i.e., unpaid. If you wouldn't give it to a family member or friend, why dump it with us?
@TheUltimateRecycler23 күн бұрын
Well said Charlie! Some people just don't get it! Thanks for watching 👍😊
