Guys I'm sorry to get off track a little bit but I wanted to point out something he's saying. I'm 6'3 and I have to scratch my head when someone who's 5'7 or shorter asks me for advice in class. I can tell them the answer but in reality I have no idea. I used to do randori with this girl who was a pretty famous champion in judo. She fought at 115 and hovered around 125 before a competition. She would go against me and remind herself and laugh and say "I can't do this technique against you you're too big." I was over 100 pounds more than her. Anyway the point I'm saying is that Sayif Carman is right in saying that height and weight matter in how you teach someone techniques.

Sport in jeans is my favorite part. The first art I trained was Taekwondo. I realized at my middle most people don't know anything about traditional martial arts especially taekwondo because they'd teach or boil it down to the lower body. My buddy and me would just use the upper body movement we learned in katas but, never trained in the "sparring."

Aftermath of big brawl, I wasn't in it or saw what started I was picking up someone, dude walking around shirt off, amped up. I say to the guy, "Yo your back is bleeding" he had a long slash on his lower back. Streets are vicious

Military personnel has nothing to with fighting. As long as they don't enlist with a previous background they don't have a serious skills. I worked a lot with them , even the special forces guys.

You're keeping people safe by not endorsing that. It would be irresponsible of you to do so (in my opinion).

This is why tank Davis says the little guys have more skills than the big guy because quite simply the big guys don't have to fight as much or just don't have anybody their size to fight with. Disclaimer he was talking about the sport of boxing talking about boxing talking about boxing

My criteria for techniques is simple. Will they work in a prison riot and will they work on a battlefield?
@TheUmmahFightCamp5 ай бұрын
BJJ aint working in a prison riot buddy. You do not want to chase a submission in that kind of thing.

I pretty much only take self defense training from people that were prison guards.

That is an interesting point of training a sport in jeans. A similar situation exists in dog training for personal protection. They are effectively using yhe apirt side of protection and selling it as the real deal. So many frauds

@nicholasgreen339 That thing about being founded in prison was never proved. People may have GONE to prison who know it, but it being FOUNDED in prison is another thing all together.

Spot on assessment. I am 5'5 and had to adapt every technique to my size. Sweeps, leg kicks, Gracie Jiujitsu and the bo staff have served me well.

This makes absolute sense...horses for courses. Bruce Lee was smaller than you and had to make up for shortfalls against bigger, heavier guys. Hence his monster tendon strength and ligament strength and flexibility plus speed and accuracy and also a monster power to weight ratio that michael jai white overlooked when he compared himself superior to bruce....and so it goes for anyone. Each person's martial training will have to become bespoke training.

sayf do you think devins lack of lateral movement considering ryan was the bigger guy and standing infront of ryan at times with the phily shell instead of a high gaurd cost him the fight ?
@TheUmmahFightCamp5 ай бұрын
With Devin: 1) Right hand too low! Like an Amateur! 2) Very little punching power. That will cost him in his career. 3) not the toughest chin.
