I don't know why everyone complains about the depth rate of the watch. Usually the maximum depth Carl Brashear was going down to 300feet = 91.44meters. If the watch is dedicated to him and to that time, 100 meters is more than enough and really well done.

Tgv, this has to be one of the most beautiful pieces you have ever reviewed. I guess, I fall into that camp that LOVES the bronze. But so much more than its aesthetic, what this represents is so important and fantastic, what a truly timeless way to honor such achievement. Absolutely love it.

"Sometimes I would come back from a run, and my artificial leg would have a puddle of blood from my stump. I wouldn't go to sick bay. In that year, if I had gone to sick bay, they would have written me up. I didn't go to sick bay. I'd go somewhere and hide and soak my leg in a bucket of hot water with salt in it--an old remedy. Then I'd get up the next morning and run." Carl Brashear. The man lives on as an inspiration. Great video T.

I bought the white dial Tissot Visodate as my first mechanical watch after watching a video you produced a while back in which you mentioned it. It is awesome! Very good quality for the price in my opinion. It was the starting piece in my now multi piece collection. Thanks for the quality content TGV!

Carl Brashear was remarkable man! Good review as usual. It will be interesting to see duel between Tissot Visodate and Seiko SARB 033. I have feeling SARB will remain champion, but we will see. Looking forward to it. Sorry that you have to work so hard, but please know that here is one guy that truly appreciate the fact that you produce great content after working all day. Spot on points about the crown protrusion, water resistance and depth rating, I think water resistance is also different from being water proof as well. I think they did sacrifice some functionality for commerciality, valid points about whether you'd wear this show piece whilst diving.

Men of honor was a fantastic movie. Cuba nailed that role. That ORIS watch is something else. However, I would've liked it more if the strap wasn't just a plain leather strap and add a bit more detail to it. The Tissot watch is such an elegant one!

Thanks TGV for the 1st look at the Visodate. I agree, a comparison with the SARB would be fantastic! I was actually in the market for a dressy watch under $500 to compliment my other dress watch, the SARB065. I strongly considered the Tissot, but I end up with the SARB035 because I did not care for the layout of the Visodate's day and date complication. I thought the day made the dial less symmetrical than the SARB's.

Such a comfy setup and for peanuts, this my first nato strap and I find it so comfy especially with the featherlight F91W. Just got my first Seiko as well so I am starting at the bottom and working my way up!

If the Visodate doesn't beat the SARB, I would be surprised. I had the pleasure of borrowing one for a week, and I loved it to bits. The biggest downfall will be the black dial, which tends to be a bit hard to read in direct sunlight. Outside of that, I would wear a Visodate over the SARB any day.

Fantastic video, TGV. Love the Carl Brashear Oris, I agree that 100m WR is too low, but again as you said, I don't think you want to go diving with a 2000 pieces limited edition watch. Steinhart released a bronze version of their ocean watch, and it's just stunning, available in three version and it has exactly the same dimensions as this one, maybe just 1mm thicker. And obviously it's 300m WR. Was not familiar with the Visodate, really stunning. Can't wait to see more about it. Thank you very much! Best regards, Michele.

Great video. I love the Oris 65, but was immediately turned off by the depth rating. I've since reconsidered this. The original diver was only designed for 50 fathoms (just over 98 meters). We just love 200m. The watch is beautiful in bronze, and recognizes a legendary diver. Very cool. The Tissot is beautiful. The dial immediately reminded me of my Verizon 1 Bambino. Bronze is a very interesting material. I have a Dino Zei Nautilo in bronze and it's aged/patinated beautifully. Also, if you want to refresh it, a quick polish with something like Simichrome Poly will get it back to nearly new. Between the bronze and the deep blue dial the Oris is a nice looking watch. Nice of Oris to create such a tribute to Mr Brashear. That Tissot is a looker isn't it? They provide such a lot of watch for the money. Oh and it doesn't look too big on you. Another fun video TGV. Having seen it in the flesh, I'm on the fence with the Carl Brashear, especially at the price it's being sold at. In a way you're buying a unknown quantity as the -brass- *bronze* will change colour (potentially dramatically) as it oxidises. I love Oris but as of this moment if I were buying a -brass- *bronze* watch it would be the Tudor Black Bay Bronze; which is just 100% sex on a strap. I have that exact version of the Visodate, it's a great watch. The only thing that annoys me is the day/date complication. If they were shown in negative the watch would be dramatically improved IMO. Thanks for the video TGV, keep up the great work.
@mikemantho94268 жыл бұрын
I have the silver dial and the day/date is black on white. While I like the black dial, I do think the silver is even more beautiful. :-). Are brass and bronze the same thing? I know they both change color with age, I can't help but think of the Bronze Age when I read that word.
@arthurscargill80108 жыл бұрын
As a politician might say, I mistyped; I meant bronze!

+Mike Mantho Brass and bronze are not the same. Both have copper, but brass uses zinc whereas bronze uses tin (or other metals, for example aluminum). Bronze is known for its resistance to water corrosion.

The Oris is to die for but just too expensive. If it was £2000 and not £3600 in the UK I would consider it for sure. Got an Oris big crown anniversary in bronze as a compromise 😊 Update on this While buying The Oris Bronze big crown The dealer looked up the price of the Divers 65 in Bronze. It was Indeed £2100 and limited to a run on 2000. The new Chrono version is £3600.
@bmjengland49668 жыл бұрын
That is a tough one! If I had to choose, it would be the Tissot! However I would probably Sneak the SARB in at a later date! 👍.. I would go for the Le Loche & SARB! Only because I can't do things by halfs!! Ha! BMJ ENGLAND.

Would never say no. Are they friendly to deal with? Best regards, TGV
@Trotsky19818 жыл бұрын
That would be cool. I've only ever dealt with their European distributor, but feedback on the forums has been generally positive. The problem is that Halios has limited runs, and the baton dial Tropik (the nicest one) is no longer available in North America. But the Arabic dial still is, so drop them a line and see what happens I guess. Keep up the good work!

Hi TGV, I am a recent follower and watch enthusiast. Dont have any yet but am slowly coming up with favourites. I think my first will be a Seiko Alpinist. Just love the retro look and especially the green dial with gold numbers. I have a question-I believe my 'grail watch' (I dont see myself spending much more than a few 1000$ on a watch) is going to be a really cool bronze. So, what do you think of Anonimo militaire? It seems really off the beaten path and really high quality. Thanks for your great videos! Regards
