You are not alone Mike. You are speaking for soooo many of us longtime Tiger fans! Detroit is too good a sports town to have this kind of apathy about its sports teams!

This is why I love Mike and this show. He backs everything up with facts and data. UM slappy Huge show is all opinions and nonsense. That’s why I made the switch from him to Valenti years ago.

The team died when they let Dombrowski go. The offense isn't even collegiate good. Pathetic.

And while I was not a Mike Ilitch fan, he also was willing to spend money on talent.

Where are the hitting coaches in all this and when should some accountability be on them?? Probably telling every guy to hack away at everything. Sooner or later you’ll hit something lol. No wonder player development stinks here

This was a classic Valenti rant. I’m a Tiger fan that lives in South Florida When I first moved here in the early 2010s. We were perennial playoff team. It was a given The product has been so trash and yet I still watch. I was in town for the NFL Drsft and I know it’s early. Hardly anyone wanted to discuss the Tigs It’s like the town doesn’t care

Born and raised in Detroit area, live in Texas. Mike I pure therapy for me. Everything I’ve been saying for the last week, BAM Mike rolls out with it. Why the F can’t we have expectations.? Import Yankee fans and the New York media for a month, and we’ll see how quickly things turn around in Detroit or how quickly players and coaches exit. Everything Mike says is on point. The GD Lions turned things around, and the Tigers are stillllllllllllll rebuilding. The price of a ticket goes up, the value goes down. I don’t want the GD new menu or the new Jerseys. I’m going to watch professional players. F’ing win more than you lose in year four of Hinch. Chris Illitch is on the verge of getting the vitriol from the fans that his Dad got before he started spending. It’s just a matter of time

Vilade went 2 for 4 today with 3 RBIs 😂😂😂
@midnighter644 ай бұрын
I’ve said since his dad passed that Chris Illitch will cause the demise of this franchise. A billionaire who doesn’t want to spend a penny and expects what? If it wasn’t for Gores he may be the worst owner in sports. No more rebuild excuse it’s been over a decade and the media doesn’t call them out. The city and fans deserve better. This is garbage.

Rico makes a good point- when guys come to Detroit from places where they had good, solid records, they have street cred- then they come here and the team they took over still stinks. The Lions went through this with one coach after another bowing through this town like the people mover. Guys like Bobby Ross, Marty Mornhinweg...etc. People laughed at Bobby Ross nearly having a heart attack after he swore- " I dont coach this kind of crap." Hell, even the Lions laughed at him....as he left town, never to be seen again. Detroit goes through these cycles of accepting mediocrity. For years it was the Red Wings. Then it was the Tigers...then the Pistons. Back in the 70s, it was all four.
@jasondeslatte76114 ай бұрын
well you can see this love of street cred with people kissing Holmes feet rather then give him any criticism and the guy still hasnt won it all yet but hes treated like Saban was at bama
@TheUnnamedAssailant4 ай бұрын
The Tigers should thank God that the Lions are the dominant team in this city, if it weren’t for them, the shitshow that is the Pistons, the neutral that is the Wings, the fans would rightfully be furious. Baseball doesn’t really matter here, it’s a football city first and a hockey city after. That’s why mediocrity is allowed when it comes to baseball and basketball. Also St Louis doesn’t have any other sport other then the Blues, that microscope stays locked on the Cards
@jasondeslatte76114 ай бұрын
yes but they used to have the Rams too and still cared more about the Cardinals half the time,they are a proud baseball town with a winning tradition rams or no rams.Tigers should at least be competing with the wings for second place in the hearts of Detroiters and back around 2006 they did just that.It wasnt too long ago we had 2-3 good solid consistant teams here.Shouldnt be that hard to have that again

It comes down to one thing in MLB. Money. With no salary cap if you don't spend, you don't win. Tigers will always be bums if they don't spend money. Can't win with minor league players.

I knew harris wasn't the answer when he shit the bed on the E rod trade last year. The orioles were dying for a starting pitcher and we tried trading him to LA knowing he wouldn't go. God do I miss the decade of playoffs. This decade has been absolutely disgusting. Christopher illitch has ruined a great franchise. Get this clown outta here

@Michiganrailfan4 ай бұрын
Weirdly enough the cardinals are my national league team and the tigers are my American team obviously and I can't tell you how angered at both teams at the situation. The reason why I like St. Louis is because those fans care and in Detroit we're too busy forcing fans to care about city connect jerseys. It's a disgrace. At least the tigers had a better start than last year but they'll only get to 80 or less wins if they keep playing like this and the royals, twins and guardians will make it. Great segment by valenti. He knows his shit in this one.
@ishaaru4 ай бұрын
Maybe since the Mike is completely trashing the tigers, they will drop 97.1 for the games but then finally get their shit together after being off the air for a few years. Kind of like what happened when Valenti used to completely destroy the lions.

It’s a joke they didn’t go out and get a few premium bats that were on the market. With league average offense this team would have created a nice cushion with the outstanding pitching they got. Such a disservice to the pitching staff what Harris did not bothering to touch the offense.

Lets be real here, who the hell where the Tigers going to sign in free agency in terms of bats that would tangibly help this team. Matt Chapman, has been awful and JD Martinez, the big power signing, doesnt even have a homerun yet.

Raised in Michigan, I am simply accustomed to the Tigers losing. Since 1901, Detroit has won 4, count them 4, World Series. Hence, a World Series every 30 or so years is our history. Based on 40 years since our last title, we should win 2 in the next 20 years. (sarcasm)

Christopher Ilitch doesn't want to spend the money. Period. It's become painfully obvious that winning isn't all that important to him. As long as the team turns a profit, that seems to be all that matters. Even with the Red Wings, missing the playoffs, yet again. There doesn't seem to be any obvious pressure being applied on Steve Yzerman or Derek Lalonde that if the Wings don't get in to the playoffs next season, there will definitely be changes in coaching and/or the front office. Again, as long as people continue to go to the games, buy the merch, and the team is profitable, and a majority of the media continue to soft soap the fans that everything is just great, that seems to be more than good enough for Christopher Ilitch.
