The Mk 37 fire control systems remained in service until the 1980's on Gearing class destroyers and the 1990's on the Iowa class battleships.

Very good episode on a good ship. Sailing 3000 miles with all that damage, that is something.

Tin Can sailors liked to boast about doing one armed push-ups while underway. Crew’s quarters in the forward section bounced along mightily in heavy seas so as the bow dropped you could push off the deck as you where near weightless, giving truth to the boast

I clicked onto this to learn of the O'Brien coming apart at the seams, not to learn the name of the lead welder or how many gallons of paint were used to paint it. Get to the point!
