I started working at DuPont, Washington Works Plant in July 1981,as a first year Millwrights Local Union 1755 apprentice, never smoked cigarettes, was an avid runner and in excellent health. 4 years later I started having siezures, the second time I went to the emergency room and was hospitalized for 3 days of continuous medical test. I was diagnosed in January, 1986, after a 4 months rebuild of the Teflon division with hypothyroidism. 34 years later and still have a very high amount of C-8 in my blood and still have to get continuous blood work done for the correct amount of thyroid medication. Same crap that went out with financial shenanigans in '08 by Wall Street behemoths that blew up and almost caused another Great Depression again.The money they spent in legal fees , fines, and settlements etc., still made a gigantic profit for them which Bilott's character , played by Mark points out during an initial settlement signing of documents with the now sick and dying farmer, THAT's the problem, besides the revolving door with Washington, people more interested in a fat salary and career rather than doing the right (I mean correct, LOL) thing , lobbyists, Citizen's United ruling with the big money in politics (public financing only and equal air time- if you lose a fair election (I mean no voter suppression or gerrymandering crap) your policies suck and you deserve to lose), This is why I LOVE Bern and to a lesser extent even Warren.

vanilla bean he is a real life hero. I’m one of the people affected by DuPont’s poison. I’m grateful for Mr Billot and Mark. I have MS, had to have a radical hysterectomy at 30, and my spine is deteriorating. No amount of money can compensate for the sufferings of all affected. I’m grateful this movie was made and I hope the world takes notice. These companies build factories in rural areas, employ the community and donate to schools, local organizations, etc...so no one questions their pollution. Most people, including my parents and grandparents thought they were helping them. I’ve lost 4 family members to cancer, one of whom was an 8 year old cousin. I’m now 42, and I’m in poor health because of DuPont and PFOAs. Please watch the documentary “The Devil We Know.” It shows you how sinister the coverup really was.

I saw this movie yesterday. And just like you, I obtained more information afterwards. It is incredible that so little is known about the level of contamination with this chemical. And that so little is being done about it. I also find it worrying that there are so few CRITICAL search results when you google this topic / Du Pont / Teflon etc ... (well, at least with the search results in Germany). This is one of those films that I think should be shown in schools.

After seeing parts of the movie Dark Waters, I've decided to no longer eat beef. I did not know about DuPont nor the contaminated water, cigarettes, pots & pans, and...cows. So, what I want to know is "Did ALL the farmers take that big loss killing, burning, and burying their contaminated cows or was that what the 'mad cow disease' was all about that supposedly came from beef that made it to market?" Is that why other countries were literally fighting at the border because they didn't want American beef in their country? I thought DuPont was a reputable company???! What is going on?! It states that once we have the chemicals in our bodies, we can never get them out causing all kinds of health issues. I feel so tainted!
@megahappy2bemeIntheStarz4 жыл бұрын
No, even though the cows got crazy acting at the Farmer's, Mad Cow comes from the abnormality in a prion (protein found on the cells in the nervous system only) . They think it is due to multiple infectious diseases and there are diseases that cause nervous system problems & craziness on their own and causes malformation and damage to tissue after effects which is why getting ones' kid vaccinated is SO IMPORTANT !- think rabies, syphilis, various other hook viruses that attack nervous system tissue. Mad Cow started in the UK when contaminated feed using diseased sheep parts was fed to Cows there and spread through either selling the beef to the continent mainly or contaminated feed, or cows to other countries. The US actually had few cases of it and most occurred in the UK and then the European countries. The US cases mostly came from livestock bought in Canada which was contaminated from imported UK feed or stock. Stricter regulations were set and it is rare to hear about a new case . There are some bad natural diseases out there.

Same goes for Valery Legasov and all of the men and women who saved the world at Chernobyl. The entire world owes them a debt of gratitude as well.

After seeing the first episode with her, I stopped watching the full show. Clips only (minus Meghan) for me now.
