The presentation: my name is Lavrans and I’m 22 and I come from Fredrikstad. With me I have my best friend, Celine, my mother Carine, and my grandmother Anne May. I have made a top inspired by a painting my great grandmother painted and gave to me for my baptism. She painted one to each of her great grandchildren. And the painting was meant to represent them as a person. Mine was a pink climbing plant. Rather untraditional for a boy. It is as if she managed to see something that had still not happened. I think it is important to remove rules for what one can wear. It’s just an expression, and you are the best qualified person to know what feels right for you. And one should be allowed to. I was lacking love for myself because I was bullied. It made me feel I couldn’t be myself. I tried to be someone I wasn’t. But three years ago I had a spiritual experience which became the start of a process where I tried to understand more. It gave me faith in myself. Something I used to lack. Today I feel more masculine than I used to, while at the same time acknowledging the feminine in me. It feels right to enter the stage, but also very challenging. I imagine Mimi (great grandmother) is with me on the stage. She showed me love. Was open and understanding. She has given me comfort and security, so I carry her with me on the stage. Espen during the song: it is almost all the time. I wish he could gear it up. Ina: I know. Ina when turning: oh my God, I love… Lavrans: Thank you! Goodness. Jarle laughs gently and looks amazed. Jarle: My new friend, who are you? I have to say… I took a long time. I felt you almost reached me, but towards the end you hit a nerve. “There it is! There it is! “ Then I turn around, and there is a distinct difference between how you sound and how you look. Which is super exciting! I’m so happy! Gets up and stretches out his arms. Lavrans: Thank you! Ina: First I have to say.. the look…! She bows a couple of times. I thought: what a beautiful vibration. Then, is it nerves, or is he a bit out of control still? Because you have something very nice in voice. But for me to sit here and ramble about that… Because luckily, Lavrans, we get to see you again. Which I am very happy about. Congratulations! In interviews after The Voice Lavrans has said about his blind audition that it may seem he was very confident but he said this: «I felt my nerves and was a little disappointed in myself. I struggled to catch the message in the moment. The nerves were so high that I had problems hearing myself in the monitor, it felt low in the sound.…. towards the end it got better.»

The fact he only got one chair turned at the very end is so disrespectful. He has a such a unique and beautifully toned voice. Not everyone is a belt it out loud singer. His voice is deep and he hit a few higher notes but his tone is that raspy gutteral rounded out style voice. Them waiting for him to go higher makes me question their ability to be judges of different voices. Shame on them for not seeing the talent he has and how people who have his style of voice do very well in the music industry as well as the belter types.
