In this interview we talk about the Thew Type O Steam Shovel that was found in the bottom of Wixom Lake. The steam shovel will be removed from the lake and restored at the Midland Antique Engine Association. I will be following the rebuilding progress of the steam shovel on my channel. This footage was filmed on August 12, 2020. This was after the collapse of the Edenville Dam on May 19, 2020. Wixom Lake was rapidly rising due to heavy rainfall and the Edenville dam could not hold back the water. The side of the dam failed sending water rushing towards Sanford Village. The aftermath and damage left behind is devastating. Make sure you subscribe to catch the follow up videos I will be filming.
Part 2 of this video can be found here (Thew Type O Steam Shovel (Boiler and Steam Engine Removal) found in the bottom of Wixom Lake):

This rebuilding of the steam shovel is totally doable. Near here there is a B17 bomber being built with only 15% of the original parts the rest of the plane is being reverse engineered or fabricated from engineering prints. The B17 project is totally by volunteers. They are into there 14th year. Amazing ! Best of luck with the Steam Shovel.

What a fantastic opportunity for a fabricator/archaeologist to restore a piece of history that has a strong connection to the community ! And a nice bit of detective work on your part ,Jordan. I would love the see the end result, but it will probably take years of part-time labor and at my age,71, I most likely won't. Great human interest story!

Enuf of that. Again great work Jordan.

Got run according to protocols on this stuff. From the governing side, following set rules for lake access, etc, avoids setting precedents others will want to be considered under and avoids lawsuits when rules are not followed if ownership is bypassed. Yes, a lot of red tape.

@Chevy4x4dawg 3 жыл бұрын
@@green-gables Of course and agree but red tape should not be a hassle..... I work in state government so completely understand the need for policies and protocols. In this situation it just seems once again a governing body was not helpful to a citizen in which it serves. That is all.
