Alan's first video three months ago and his encouragement got me off my ass and working out. Stopped drinking and started working out an hour 5 times a week. Proud to say I have lost 59 pounds and my cholesterol, resting heart rate and blood pressure are so much better. I actually waited to buy the Younger Next Year book and only started reading it last week. I am 55 and feel like I am 45 again! I am back to drinking at special occasions but no more day drinking. Feeling so good I booked a trip to BVI in October to reward myself. Alan, thank you for the videos and the encouragement and maybe I will see you in the BVI in October. You guys can do this...You are worth it!!

Great counsel, Al. Been doing this kinda routine for almost 15 years. Went from 200lbs => 160lbs and steady. Low carbs and enough protein is the key. B. R. A. V. O. ‼️ 🎉

Alan, this is fantastic and so glad you are taking care of yourself. After owning a fitness business for years I kind of fell off my "horse" and your simple video inspired me to get back on. We used Younger Next Year with all of our clients our age and it is a great book to help people see why they should take better care of themselves. My wife and I have really enjoyed your videos and have a lot in common. Last fall while the Wandering Hillbilly was at Hinkley our boat, Happy Ours, was up on the hard getting serviced. It was a goal of ours to have a boat we could travel on and we just purchased her last June and have traveled from Ft Lauderdale to above Charleston. The Bahamas are in the planning stages and we really enjoy watching your experiences and sharing in the highs (and lows) of boat ownership. Hopefully, we will share cocktails someday in the BVI's! All the best and smooth sailing to you and your family!

You are absolutely right in everything you addressed in this video. Last time I had my annual physical I was at my highest all time weight and was feeling it and wondering what to do. I had the Covid 20 (lbs) plus another 10. I was checking the clock to see if it was time to have my first drink. If it wasn’t 5 yet, what the hell, might as well. I hate diets because there are millions of them and too complicated. Then my cardiologist told me I better do something. We discussed intermittent fasting and I researched it and decided to do it. Best thing that’s happened to my health wise. Other than quitting drinking completely. I started Feb 15th and am down almost 25 pounds so far. I have a good breakfast and a lunch of whatever I want, maybe steak twice a week, chicken, pork, fish, vegetables, etc. I don’t eat anything until breakfast the next morning. Just cut way down on carbs and zero sugar. With my weight loss, my problem knee is a lot better so I can now go to the gym and walk the roads without pain. My goal is another 15 pounds down to the weight I was at when I finished a mountain hike here in Montana a few years ago. I am 78 and looking forward to a trip to your beautiful islands with my wife. Thank you for your inspiration and showing your subscribers how to do it.

@@thewanderinghillbilly Alan, you have the most wonderful channel on KZbin, which is where I get all my entertainment now that the world has gone apeshit in every way possible. The great thing about KZbin is any topic you can think of, many others have done it and paved the way for you. Learn from other people's mistakes so you don't do the same. Of course, you might not make that same mistake, but you'll make its cousin. Also, I want to congratulate you for apparently maintaining your sanity living and working in the fishbowl out there in LaLa land. As a Christian, you have to hold to a higher standard, and I personally appreciate that.

Allen, I can't express how this hits me! It's as if you are speaking to me. I know how weird that sounds especially in the world you live in but it was hard to hold back my emotions when I watched this. And before you think this is a John Hinckley-Jody Foster sort of thing, it's actually a "save my ass" sort of thing. Because we are the same age and we have/had the same build, I can relate to everything you're saying. I have bought the book you suggested, great read and I see the results on you which is my motivation. I am a boat owner who plans to retire on my boat. I reached a point that it was getting hard to fit through the salon doors! Forget about working in tight spaces! I was going to die if I didn't change. I was an athlete in school and in the Navy but like you said, life happens, kids, you get comfortable and pounds add up. I want to see my new granddaughter graduate high school or collage and if I don't change, that aint gonna happen. So think you for this follow up video to help keep me/us on track. I know we will meet on the water some day and the first round (after five) is on me. Thank you Allen more than you know. Thank you for all your videos and great work. However, I have never seen the Voice, sorry but you have never seen what I do either so it sort of balances out! haha Paul and Linda S/V The Friendly Confines

This video hit me hard. I’m a 59 year old woman but not feeling good about myself. 10 pounds overweight. Drinking too much and not moving my body. I have followed all your videos and enjoy them so much. But I’m getting the fit bit. Downloading the app. And hope to be 10 pounds thinner for my BVI vacation in January. Thank you!!!! You’ve helped me so much.

Don’t forget your spiritual health. People will spend 4 or more hours in the gym each month but can’t find an hour a week to attend a religious service to thank God for all they have. Your time on earth is a drop in the ocean compared to eternity in the afterlife. Feed and exercise the soul and then and only then will your life be fully fulfilled. God bless you and happy boating.

I am so very happy for you & the changes you have made! My husband and I are here with you. Addressing the alcohol and adding heavy lifting (he's 62 and I'll be the big one in Sept) and next will be our actual diet. We're huge cooks and foodies so that is going to be difficult! But this vid is super encouraging! You just don't know who you'll affect with your stories!❤

Love the changes you have made for yourself. I am sorry you had to have a scare to get there. During COVID, I moved from my office in downtown Charleston to wfh. Over the next year, I went from 200 to 170. I have a hydro and a peloton and I stopped eating lunch out nearly every day. I bought the younger next year book you suggested and am trying to incorporate the strength training they suggest. I appreciate the boost you have given me and liked the story of no fat guys at the assisted living home. I will turn 55 in a few months and am healthier then I have been in the last 10 years. When I went to the bvis (thanks for that too!) in July, I didn’t sweat nearly as much as I feared! Anyway if the boat wanders north to Charleston, message me. I owe you a drink (after 5:00 PM) or on a weekend!
