Valorant was made by people who loved Counter-Strike but didn't like certain aspects of it, so they made their own Counter-Strike with the changes they wanted to see. That's basically what it boils down to.

I think that's very true but also I think they are trying to streamline gunplay and movent in order to put more focus on what makes the game different, the abilities. they don't want you to memorize spray patterns or learning to quick scope. They want you to put your effort into learning to wall, dash, teleport, heal, etc.

Its essentially CS but made more appealing to more casual audiences. The agents and the overall lower barrier to entry make it 10x more appealing to most people than CS, with its grittiness and unforgiving learning curve. Same thing happened with DOTA2 and League of Legends, where one made the barrier to entry simpler. That being said, I think at the highest levels, CS and Valorant are similar when it comes to macro play. CS has its nuance with everyone having access to the same items, whereas Valorant has its nuance with team comps, unique agent utility, and map choice affecting the former two. I hear some people say 'Valorants easier because abilities make it easier', but I just disagree. If anything it adds its own unique, but different, type of depth to CS@@melty4204

@@diegoaespitia That is not a fair assessment I think. Counter-Strike is very much designed as a game "for the masses", Valorant is just part of that same bandwagon. League and Dota are also like that, just another company looking at what the other guy is doing and making his own version of it. Fundamentally the same but different in enough ways to make it unique. But neither is "superior" to the other, regardless of which one you think is better.

I think Valorant is distilling CS down to its "battle of wits" to get rid of as much "battle of hand-eye coordination" as possible. This is evidenced in the extreme movement speed reduction when tagging as well as reduced movement speed in general: It follows the rule that "whoever expected the other person, and wasn't expected by the other person, should be the winner". It makes crosshair placement much more important and powerful than flicking or aiming. If Valorant successfully becomes "CS with less emphasis on hand-eye coordination", it's definitely the game for me.

The high requirement for aim is what makes CS the shooter that it is. It's the most raw form of FPS eSports. At the end of the day, an FPS will always be about who can click heads better and no matter how many operators, agents, special abilities you add, it will always be a battle of aim. For example, R6S is probably the definition of an FPS that relies on the brains of the player yet the number 1 player is an aimstar that is known for picking the operator with the best fragging capability. In fact, barely any of the top players are 500iq IGLs that know every single angle in the game. Most top players are aimstars. Valorant, as an FPS, will always be about who can aim better.

you will eventually hit a skill wall where you are going to get destroyed by people with better aim than you though. you can expect someone to pop around a corner but if you have a weak reaction time and a weak grasp on the initial predictable pattern you're going to get wrecked. You will most definitely get by in the lower skill levels with just strategy though

with the sheriff after some testing it is about 98% accurate while shift-walking and that means up to 30 meters accurate headshots if your crosshair is on their head somewhat center. The vandal is 95%.

I have noticed a trend: Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch. Pubg and Fortnite. Monster Hunter and Dauntless. CS:GO and Valorant. Each game/series on the left is an old and loved game. I pubstop constantly in csgo, but I bottomfrag in valorant. Watching this video I think I figured out why I suck so much, I'm a very movement heavy player, and im very, very aggressive. I rely on the ability too sholder peak, bait shots, and dodge with superior movement and aim. I play with every gun similar too a scout, dodging in and out, trying too be unpredictable. Valorant is designed too destroy my playstyle.

I came into valorant from Siege. Across all platforms globally I was in the top 8% of players (top 3% globally for ps4). I keep loosing gun fights and have been feeling discouraged but your video reminded me something important. I ended Siege with over 800 hours of play and it took me a while to become as good as I was. So thanks for that. I just need more time playing to get the feel of the game. Im not very articulate but I guess my take away is (hope this helps someone else) , at a certain point of just being good at something you don't remember what it was like to learn. When you can just go on auto pilot and do good, winning and doing well just feels normal and alters your perspective in a way.
