Hello The Way We Wore Fans,
We have a super special video for you, about how Doris acquired an Audrey Hepburn Givenchy Haute Couture Ensemble from Breakfast at Tiffany's. This treasure was purchased from Its A Wrap, a store that specializes in selling garments and accessories from wrapped productions and studio warehouses. Doris instinctively purchased the ensemble because of the Givenchy label, the Paramount Studio notation, and the measurements suggesting an extremely petite person wore this ensemble. All these factors, along with some detective work and research done myself lead us to the amazing conclusion, this piece was worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 classic Hollywood film Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Audrey Hepburn first visited Givenchy prior to filming Sabrina, the designer was under the impression Katherine Hepburn was meeting him for a fitting. So when Audrey turned up he told her that he was busy with another appointment and that she was welcome to look through the last collection, still thinking Katherine Hepburn was coming to the atelier. When he realized it was Audrey who made the appointment they had a laugh and went to dinner, from that point on their partnership would go on to create the most popular images in fashion and pop culture history. Audrey's wardrobe for Breakfast at Tiffany's is still highly commercialized. Audrey's gown during the beginning titles of the film sold in 2006 for 467,200 pounds over $800,000. Audrey's style is constant source of inspiration whether it be for designing clothes or putting together an outfit. We hope you enjoy this amazing story and the treasure Doris found that belonged to a screen legend. Thanks for watching and be sure to like and subscribe for more fun videos on Doris and her vintage emporium.
We would also like to say a special thanks to Darren Julien (President/CEO) and Martin Nolan (Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer) for allowing us to film and work with their auction house, it is always a pleasure. Also Jason DeBord (Chief Operating Officer) for helping in authenticating this amazing piece of fashion and film history.
Wardrobe: Doris is wearing a Libertine appliqué dress.

I love this story, I have had a similar event, I bought a costume piece, a uniform jacket, in a thrift store that had the studio tag, what I did was to contact the Library of Congress who sent me some images from movies made by the studio that might have such uniform costumes and discovered that the jacket was used in the movie, The Prisoner of Zenda, the jacket sold to a movie collector in Paris. This is the great part of the business we are in Doris, I love the research almost as much as finding the treasure.

What a great find! I'm so happy that you found and preserved for future generations to enjoy! You saved this piece! So many props were lost over time and for many years after a production wrapped the items would just get thrown in a warehouse for another production to pull the item for another movie or props would just get sold off to public for hardly anything. Debbie Reynolds pushed and pushed for preservation and very few people took her serious. She had the vision of a Hollywood museum. Nobody understood how important her vision was! What a glorious woman that shined so bright! I sure miss her and Carrie Fisher! I loved them so much! Doris, I love when you create these videos with Julien's auctions! I personally don't think that you should sell it. You could still own it and loan it on exhibit. I think that you will miss it! I believe when a person has a piece of something that was so big and iconic and magical, it's like well known artwork, the magic still surrounds the item, forever. Always sending my love to you Doris and your staff! 🎨🌞🎶💃❤️

How cool is that?! Good for you, Doris! How exciting! (I'm behind on my YouTubing and came here to start catching up... good start!) Doris, you look freakin' fantastic! It's good to see you each and every posting, but you look amazing here. I hope it's because you and yours are doing well in these crazy days! You help me do better, myself, in these crazy days. You are a gift that keeps on giving. And I thank you for being you! If I had a bucket-list, visiting you would be near the top. For you. For vintage. For fashion. For grace.

Wow!, what a great collab! It would be awesome to see a more in depth video on this channel abt the piece and how it was acquired, researched, the decision to sell, etc… Bc I Loved watching this vid featuring such talented experts as this “dynamic duo”. Really appreciate being able to listen to their interesting analysis and learn abt the authentication process, as well as the story behind this gorgeous, incredible, iconic outfit. I look forward to (hopefully!) finding out where this amazing piece of film/fashion history will journey to next. And yes, we all do love stories like this- especially when they result in such an incredible work of art not only being saved, but saved by Doris! Here’s hoping it will be preserved for future generations and exhibited to the public, so that the world is able to not only see and get to know it, but so that ppl may have the chance to admire this lovely garment that was designed by a fashion genius and showcased in such a beloved, classic film; and they might also have the ability to learn more about the inspirational, beautiful and incredible woman that made it famous.

The appeal was primarily due to the casting. Audrey Hepburn and Julia Roberts were beautiful, charismatic and looked fabulous in fashion. In addition, the stories were romantic - both women were transformed by true love. The male leads were equally beautiful and charming. The movies checked all the boxes.
