Finntroll! I have seen them several times at festivals and they are always fantastic and fun. :D Some of the other DJs at our station are real fans and I often have to play their songs for them. :D

I need to check out this band more. I've listened to this one many times and that riff always get stuck in my head. The way they blend in those folk influences is also really cool.

Great song! I haven't listened to Vredesvävd as much as some of their older albums, but I think it's due for another spin. 🤘🤘 It's not that it's a bad album, quite the contrary, but they have such a great discography that I always gravitate back to the older stuff. I know we all have albums that don't click with us right away, but rather later on. Could be the case for this one, but there's only one way to find out . 🎧 BTW: So cool that your kids are lovin' Fintroll!

Likely based on the shamanism of the Sami people of Finland. It's about going into your inner sanctum to find yourself. It's shadow work as his shadow takes various forms of his guides through the underworld

The music here was good. Drums stood out for sure. The vocals were ok but, in my opinion, really needed some cleans to offset the rough style.

That was fun, though I admit it was the music and the animation itself that really got me involved.

Forsen would translate as the rapids. It's a shaman who takes a form of different animal spirits while traveling the river of death into underworld. Once there he extracts knowledge from beyond and returns to his own physical body. The chorus would translate somewhat like this: For milleniums the traveller rested Deep in the caves without light Only hearing the noise of the black rapids Naturally it doesn't rhyme in english, but i'm sure you get the idea. If you got Amorphis - Queen of Time Album, you can basicly listen the same story in english with greater detail, by the track called 'Heart of the giant'. Since you know Finntroll i assume you are aware of a band called Moonsorrow?

See that explanation is sooooo awesome! I'm drawn to this kind of magic! Also I've heard of moonsorrow but never listened.

@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Yeah Moonsorrow are one of the most cherished folk/pagan metal bands out there. They use lot's of those old instruments in their songs. Here's a shorter one if you want to give it a spin kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKWsYXSff6Z2bZI It's called The Hour of The Wolf

According to Metal Injection's website regarding the song: "The shaman's journey into the other is portrayed in myriads of ancient art," said Finntroll in a statement. "Often symbolized by a stream that flows into the earth, riding the rapids one can unravel mysteries, deep within the layers of consciousness. There one can find oneself, if one dares to search deep enough." Song title: "The Stream" or "The Rapids" English lyrics: Fingers pale clawing lichen, tearing They rip through, demolish, bare stone and rock Black fingernails reduce to rubble, grind away When he dives into the beast, stone's black stream He digs down to the mountain's core He slides into cracks, slips Drinks ice cold water through the slits Licks lime and iron from stone At a shore so cold and dark Rested for a millennium Deep in holes without light Only a sound, the black stream's roar He wades in the light of underground fire The deep river, without a source As the time has left its false way Sees a wander in wisdom endlessly long At a shore so cold and dark Rested for a millennium Deep in holes without light Only a sound, the black stream's roar Streams roar! In front sees a shadow wandering along the water A back so haggard and bent from knowledge Then he now grabs the depths for second time With himself he before the river sat...
