Hey Hunterz. Suzy, I have a request for you, as you mentioned not knowing or understanding the horrors of war: Uprising by Sabaton. This is not just a patriotic song about Poland, but is also a sad song as well. During the Second World War, as most know, Poland was the first country officially invaded by the German blitzkrieg in 1939. After capturing Poland, Germany used Warsaw to bring those of the "undesirable" categorization and house them in a city-turned-concentration camp. During the German occupation, the Polish people unsuccessfully tried to start an armed resistance, with the goal of forcing Germany to leave. Not once but twice, the Polish people failed, due to Allied High Command not giving them the support they needed. As someone related to Ike Eisenhower, not exactly America's finest hour. As a result, the Polish today are very much at the top of the list of "Most Patriotic Nations On Earth," and is why the Polish government is putting so much money into being the premier military of continental Europe, given the war in Ukraine right next door.

Destroyed on the territory of modern: Russia - 1710 cities and more than 70 thousand villages; Ukraine -61 settlements with the number of households 9737; Belarus - 9200 Belarusian villages

@@emmalarson1638 Yes, the crime committed was huge, it is impossible to forget it, and this is the most painful topic for us. I sympathize with you that the war touched your family (in Russia every family someone fought. My grandmother's brothers, both my grandfathers and their brothers fought). Unfortunately my English is not good enough, so I'll clarify. Information about whether the Germans broke directly into Moscow is contradictory. In the very city limits of Moscow , German troops were able to enter only in the form of a breakthrough by a group of motorcycle riders and were stopped by the Sokol metro station . The closest German troops were in the village of Yasnaya Polyana (the residence of Leo Tolstoy) is 17 km from the borders of the city (of that time) and 29 km from the Kremlin.

@@stallist9365 I can understand the anger the Russians felt toward the Germans but taking it out on the German citizens was hard to think about but as they say war is hell. War is usably between the leaders of countries and the soldiers putting their lives on the line are not asked what they want. but of course, defending your country is up there with one of the best reasons to go to war. I live in a city called Tacoma and a state called Washinton in the U.S. and we haven't seen a war in our own country since the civil war I do so hope that during this season of world piece that Putton and Ukran can come to a peaceable solution I hope this reply finds you and yours happiness
@stallist9365 Жыл бұрын
@@emmalarson1638 In fact, the post-war generation does not hate the Germans as a nation, as well as other peoples who fought on the side of the fascists. We don't blame modern Germans for the past. The veterans and the people themselves who passed that terrible time did not cultivate hatred in themselves and in us, but the wound was inflicted on us too deep. that's why we were taught to preserve memory. There will be no statements of hatred towards Germans as a people in any school textbook or at home. We condemn and reject only the actions and ideas of fascists and Nazism. As for actions against "civilian Germans", do you mean those alleged facts of cruelty that were actively spread in the West in the 90s, when the USSR collapsed? I know what books and "research" we are talking about. There is no excuse for cruelty in any case. Were there any offenses against the Germans, yes, unfortunately, there were, but this is an insignificant minority (There are official statistics of offenses in the public domain, no one hides it, but these are definitely not the figures that they are trying to propagandize). In fact, if we talk about the stories of "rape and atrocities" - it was Goebbels propaganda, which was launched in 1945 when the Red Army was approaching Konigsberg (now Kalininglad) to intimidate people. I will say bluntly - of course, the townsfolk who supported Hitler and welcomed the war, shamelessly used the fruits of the plunder of other nations, did not expect that the war would return to where it began. And now these "civilians", frightened and ingratiating, with white armbands on their sleeves, were afraid to look into Russian eyes, waiting for payback for everything their army had done on foreign soil. But you are missing the fact that despite the desire for revenge, when our army left the state border of the USSR, pamphlets were distributed telling about the history of a particular country, its culture, and local traditions and order was issued on January 19, 1945 "On behavior on German territory" in strict order, it was brought to every soldier. For robberies, rapes and other crimes, the military tribunal gave severe punishments: 15 years of camps, a penal battalion, execution, and no one wanted to get under internal investigations at that time, for the discrediting behavior of a Soviet person could be shot on the spot. The military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is our tragedy, because we are one united people (Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians) who are forcibly torn apart from each other. The West is trying to solve its strategic plans with the hands of Ukrainians, skillfully unleashing this civil war between us, when direct blood relatives are fighting on both sides of the conflict. We hope for a speedy peace between us, and we will definitely restore it. Peace and security to you too.

You do realize this is during the Second World War, I hope?
