They are generally considered Viking themed Death Metal. They've been around for a LONG time and have a fiercely loyal following. They've got a ton of great songs out and you can't really go wrong with anything they do. I'd love to have the chance to see them live one day.

I saw these guys at Mayhem fest back in 2013 and they were amazing. I originally went to see Rob Zombie and Children of Bodom. I was in the Children of Bodom autograph line and the Amon Amarth line was right next to it. When I got up to CoB and I could see Amon Amarth I saw a sign saying when they were scheduled to be signing autographs, there was only something like 10 minutes left and the line looked like it was a mile long. I jumped in the line and after maybe 25-30 minutes (it went surprisingly fast) I was able to get their autographs. They were all super friendly and were smiling ear to ear. They had to have been signing autographs a good hour or more after their scheduled time to be signing. The CoB crew were already gone but Amon Amarth were still there interacting with the fans. I still have my signed picture hanging on the wall in my living room.

I remember approx. 15 years ago, when me and some friends were watching them live in Norway, Oslo. At one point during the concert on of my friends was almost fainting, so he put his arm around me, and I thought he wanted us to headbang together ^^ so I forced him to continued until the song was finished :P
