I also have to share this with you about Bruce. He had throat cancer 5-6 years ago. He felt a lump on his neck, he googled it and found that he most likely had cancer, and he still decided to finish "The Book Of Souls" album with the band before saying anything to them. After he finished the album, he got checked by a doctor, confirmed he had cancer, and after defeating the cancer through treatment, he got back to singing with the band! This is Bruce himself telling the story in an interview. :P

Another fun fact: Bruce flew commercial airliners for Astraeus Airlines in his time off stage for many years. So actually, quite a few people were flown to or from their summer vacatations by Bruce. He now owns an aviation company (and also makes beer btw.) :-D

for a time you could also fly with bruce on ed force one but the airline got a run in africa and the africans refused to get on the plane and so the livery was removed. he is also a novelist and has cardiff aviation fixing planes and had a podcast, and a bbc dj show and has trained pilots.

he was not the only pilot.laws require a pilot to not work for 12 hours before a flight. nicko is also a pilot, the first. bruce on his night with b tour told a funny story about being stranded after missing a flight and calling nicko to fly over to get them from the jersey island.

Thousands if hours of flight time as a pilot, certified to fly Boeing 737, 757 and 747s. Very interesting story for anyone interested in aircraft or logistics. First time a 757 was ever converted to carry both cargo (entire stage set) and passengers in the main passenger deck. Anything but a trivial undertaking, and Dickinson was at the controls. The Maiden documentaries on this are fantastic.

Bruce is a certified pilot. He is flying the band’s Boeing. He is also a TV personality. He had a show on BBC about history of aviation and another one about metal music

More fun facts, Steve Harris flies his soccer team to play other teams on tour like Brazil, etc. There's a couple CNN IM specials that are interesting. Also, don't know if you knew but Bruce battled throat cancer during the production of Book of Souls. Honestly, they are all incredible. They all have had successful careers besides music. Bruce was actually a commercial airline pilot.

At Reading Festival in 2005, when he introduced the band at the end of the concert (like he always does), when Bruce introduced Nicko last, I got everyone there to chant Nicko, Nicko, Nicko, the band loved it, you could see the ‘what the…’ expression on their faces as that’s never happened to them before, everybody be loves Nicko (ppppppffffffttttttt What-o)

During their Book of Souls tour, their 1st stop of the tour was in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I remembered watching local news here in Florida. All news channels showing their plane, 747 aka Ed Force One landing at Ft. Lauderdale Airport for their opening stop on February 24, 2016. Yep Bruce Dickinson is a licensed commercial pilot and is certified as a captain on the 757/747. He flew for Astraeus Airlines when he left the band in the 1990s and continued through the early 2000s. He has since retired.

Fact 3 , Bruce is an author. He has two Lord Iffy Boat race books released in the early 90s. Fact 4, Bruce was a DJ on BBC radio. He's also done TV shows. Fact 5, He's a cancer survivor. He had a golf ball sized tumour in the back of his tongue, it was discovered during the recording of The book of souls album.

Yep, he made the British Olympic Fencing team but could not compete due to Maidens touring commitments, he is a qualified Airline Pilot and the plane he flew the band in was their own 747! He is also a best selling author and has had successful solo albums. Most impressively he beat throat cancer recently 🤘

He didn't fly the whole tour. There were another 5 pilots who worked the tour. Bruce didn't fly every leg of it. Not only would that've been irresponsible and unsafe, there are rules regarding rest hours ...hence the number of pilots used on the tour.

The plane is called Edd Force One. Bruce usually flies to a venue but I believe cannot always fly out if a venue as cannot pilot a plane force while after a show as I understand it
