Meet the Tridon Mk.2! A Lethal Weapon just revealed by BAE Systems UK

In this video, we are going to talk about BAE Systems' new air defense system, the Trident Mark 2, which has been revealed by BAE System.
The new weapon is a self-propelled, remotely controlled 40 mm anti-aircraft artillery gun that is extremely effective against a variety of aerial and ground targets.
It can counter a wide range of threats, such as drones, cruise missiles, aircraft, and armored vehicles. With an effective range of up to 12 kilometers (7.5 miles), this deadly weapon has a rate of fire of 300 rounds per minute on the target.

It is BAE system Bofors in Sweden own by BAE system UK that stand for the creation. A Bofors gun constructed and built in Sweden placed on a Scania truck constructed and built in Sweden.

They have the land septer and they will be using this 40 mm on the new type 31 frigates. Each ship will have two 40 mm, one 57 mm, two 30 mm SCG and 32 type 41 VLS which could quad pack 128 CAMM missiles/sea septer.

The 40mm is where the 30mm would go I'm pretty sure, so I don't think they've got both. Edit: Nevermind, the 40mm guns are on the centerline so there would probably be room for the 30mm guns. That being said, it doesn't seem like there are any any plans to fit them.

@@regarded9702 my bad, your actually right, the 40 mm covers the whole ship as there's two, the 30mm will be on the type 26 along with the sea wiz. The 30mm covers port and starboard, the 40mm on the type31 are on the bow and stern but can cover all angles.

@@davec5153 It is strange we are getting 30mm for the Type 26 and 40mm for the Type 31. You'd think we'd pick one and stick to it, especially as they do the same job from what I understand.

@@regarded9702 The 40mm takes up more room than the 30mm, it also costs more. The 30mm for the type 26 will be taken straight from the decommissioned type 23's, so coast nothing.

If Britain was to acquire it it would go on boxer meaning it would have a wheeled and tracked anti air platform. BAE needs to rebuild it’s military vehicle designing and building capability. And also needs to start designing and building guns again new 110mm (light tank and light artillery)and 160mm (heavy artillery) and also a 120mm railgun (MBT).

We dont need this toys.. The army has the starstreak AD. Starstreak is another highly capable air defence weapon. In service with the British Army since 1997, this highly effective missile reaches speeds in excess of three times the speed of sound and is capable of taking down fast jets, drones and against helicopters it is particularly devastating.

We definitely need this and more. starstreak is not nearly enough as it's mostly a close range manpad, we also need long range air defense longer than sky sabre which is only a medium range ( about 80 miles) so I'm glad they are working on this.

The army has the land cepter, which is derived from the navies sea cepter. Britain has sold the star streak to India. Its short ranged compared to the CAMM missile in land cepter. The star streak is replaced by the martlet.

Starstreak and Stinger are way to expensive and rare to use against El Cheapo drones. Against a heli or normal plane it will do, but how many 100 K Pound Starstreaks do you need to destroy say a swarm of 30 drones from 10 K each? And the next is ofcourse how easy they can be replaced? Ofcourse one can say, if a drone hits a target that target is of higher value, but that doesn't help you if it is not 5 drones a day, but 500 a week or so. You need some "low value" ordnance to throw against such drone.
