Commander's Log Orbit of Aeten II Week 143 [Begin Log] It is good to be back in the action. With Shack keeping the Liberation above Ithor, me and my officers were getting antsy waiting for action. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be out of action for a bit, but six months is enough for me and the other veterans to start getting cabin fever. So, I got my warhost, and Halep's, transferred up to the Northern Fleet, so we can help fight the Black Sun around here. First action we saw, the conquest of Aeten Two. Before that however, there has been news of Rebel conquests in other parts of the galaxy. Jedha was recently liberated by Princess Leia and Kyle Katarn, the local forces weren't prepared at all for them. Meanwhile, Thyferra was also hit by the Southern Fleet. The Imperials left as soon as our warships came into sensor range, mostly Mon Cal cruisers. Our shipyards and foundries are also busy too, building more materiel for the war effort. Aeten Two, we were hoping it would be an easier affair. The Black Sun had a large amount of air power stationed on this useless rock, and had set up the place as a reserve facility. Armor landed first in the opening assault, with artillery and infantry with them. My men and Saurthen's were put in charge of manning the southern side of the landing zone, Zoural and Toba were in charge of the north side. Both groups held out well enough as the Suns attempted to drive us out. Then we got the orders from Madine to advance. Toba and Zoural ran into trouble up in the northern sector. Their tanks were cut off and wiped out by long range launchers, and the infantry were swamped by a counter offensive. Safe to say the recruits weren't up to par for the enemy assault. Casualties between both great companies are at about six hundred, combines. Obviously the commanders in orbit didn't like the situation, so Solo and Chewbacca led a second, even larger, wave of armor planetside. They took out the Hutt palace on the planet at least. Saurthen and I had slightly better luck. We only had to face concussion grenade launchers that were firing at us from on top of a steep slope to the plateau most of the Suns were billeted at. In total, about nine hundred of my men were killed, and another two hundred from Halep's. The new recruits were not at all to happy to see all of the training we'd put them through come to naught, but they were relieved when we told them we'd at least killed maybe ten or twelve thousand Sun forces on the planet alongside our other allies. With Aeten Two taken, the fleet has moved on to Ilum, where the Suns there have been wiped out. As of now, I need to see madine about a possible raid I've been pestering him about for weeks. The Third and Nineteenth need a ship of their own. And I know just the place. Until next time, Nartha out. [End Log]

** Begin Transmission ** Captain Shack, good work securing several victories since my last transmission. Not to say my own victory is comparable, but Dathomir, in theory, won't have any Rancor problems anytime soon. While they are not extinct on the planet, the cave systems anywhere near headquarters or any auxiliary base on the planet has been collapsed, and the Rancors have been exterminated or pushed back into the deep wilderness where they won't cause any issues. Personally, I know Z-95s aren't among the best fighters we have, but having them around to help push back Rancors that get close to our sensor network was instrumental and has given me a newfound respect for the old ships. I'm told command wants us moving soon. Apparently we're a bit too good at pest control, and Dathomir isn't near the frontline anymore. Now, while waiting for reassignment, I'd like to offer up my thoughts on the grand plan moving forward. You and I agreed with Luke about Taking Illum. I'm glad to see the orbit taken, I'm told the plan after securing the ground is to fall back to Ord Mantell. No arguments here, but Adumar seems like such a nice system to take a "leisurely stroll" through on the way back. For fear of sounding like a broken record, we have units that have been imprisoned, Ace being a key figure among them. We need him for Zhar to truly consider the outer rim free from the Empire's grasp. Cerulean Ace Log: Week 343 In orbit above Kuat This week has been... suspiciously quiet on the frontlines in the Mid Rim. All of the action these weeks is going on in the mop-up operation with the Black Sun and Imperial backlines. It looks like Witton, Rogue Squadron, and the Phoenix are about to knock out another Black Sun holdout. With their command being decimated, they don't really have any semblance of organization in their battle lines, as if they had any to begin with. Rebel forces have secured Jedha, and generally, things are going well. Maybe I should send Witton a postcard or something. He's probably having the time of his life with Rogue Squadron, now that Wedge is back. I don't have anything to report here. Vader hasn't moved. The Bulwark and its fleet haven't moved. The whole ship is just uneasy, and tension is running like a river. If Vader decides to move on Kuat of Chandrila, I don't know if we can stop him before he causes devastating damage. The Devastator tore up our fleet at Scarif, and now that its coming with three or four others just like it, I don't know what we can do. I'm sure we'll think of something, even if the final strategy just becomes throwing our fleets into the meat grinder until it stops working. It's going to be rough.

Rebel Diaries 58 - It's good to be back in the field again... particularly when it feels like I've missed a good chunk of the war. Captured fighting Vader on Iridonia and then shipped off to the Corporate Sector. And while there, the Empire launches a special factor ship that build killer droid stormtroopers, which the fleet took out when they made their run into the Core. I get the odd sense that I should have been the one to take that ship down, but I won't complain about the Empire taking defeats. And the advances alliance has made for quite a bit of that as well. Surrounding Mandalore and then launching a campaign against the Corporate Sector. Now, I must say, I've seen the grumblings from some of the armchair strategists on the folly of attacking the Corporate Sector, particularly with the Empire and Black Sun still out there. I will tell them that they haven't seen things inside the Corporate Sector... For all their talk of being "independent," the Corporate Sector was nothing more than an Imperial lacky state. They liked Imperial militarism and everything else. The only thing they didn't have was the Empire's worship of the Dark Side, and in that, I'm glad for the campaign that freed me from them, and it may set the region for HONEST trade, rather than just the Empire in different clothing. Not to mention that the capture of the Corporate Sector helped secure the surrounding of Mandalore and putting the Black Sun at end of its proverbial rope. They have some strong worlds, and Fondor will surely be one of those tough worlds to take in the future, but the North is rather weak. It's allowed the Northern Fleet to move from Ord Mantell to Aeten II and then to Illum, and with a minimum of fleet losses. From what I've been told, this part of Operation Python... named for some kind of serpent from Dagobah. I think the ultimate idea is to surround the Empire in the core and just crush it... and one that will be easier as their Black Sun allies fall. Though, while the space battles were hard, the ground battle at Aeten II was rough... and from what I heard, Chewbacca's wookies ran into a host of anti-personnel turrets while the armor ran into entrenched anti-tank missile launchers... That's rough, and likely the result of poor scouting, but could also be the result of dealing with a foe who's fortified the ground. Some of it, I think was complicated by the fact that Aeten II is a lava world like Mustafar. It wouldn't surprise me if the infantry will be battling some serious burns for a week or so. Not that fighting for Illum may make that easier... ice doesn't cure a fire burn. In the meantime, Princess Leia and I took our role in Operation Python in taking a raid on an Imperial held world in the Galactic West at Jedha, and following up on sparking riots on Jakku. I thought the plan would have involved actually taking Jakku in order to protect parts of our southern front, but Princess Leia was fearful the Empire had a strong fleet there, like the one at Carida and one that is likely still there. That fleet at Carida might be best tackled with hit and run raids with the Bulwark's fleet hitting with carrier escorts and then whittling that fleet down. It may take time and require repeated attacks, but it may be necessary. And maybe our raids in the West may help... particularly as the Southern Fleet also has struck at Thyferra. I haven't heard anything on a ground invasion there... but it sounds like is coming and will also set up the moves to finish off the Black Sun in the south... which will then see their faction gone when Illum is taken along with Fondor and another world between Illum and Ord Mantell. And from there the real war with the Empire will begin... - Kyle Katarn.

Commanders Log: Commander Rylan “Saber 1” Brask. Alliance Fighter Squadron Lead [X-Wing Squadron: Callsign - Saber] We had an unexpected, yet very welcome arrival in the Northern fleet recently. Saul and his boys found their way up here to us. I get the feeling, staying in one place too long tends to make you antsy. It’s honestly been pretty quiet all things considered. I guess that’s to be expected though, considering the Black Sun is at a fraction of the power they once were. Their last effort top hold Mandalore was also the death throes of The Suns. Jedha has reportedly been liberated by a spec force led by Princess Leia and Kyle Katarn. By all accounts, the local forces weren’t prepared for them at all. I guess that’s what happens when you get stationed on a backwater world that’s half destroyed. On our front in the North, we’ve successfully taken the ground of Aeten II, though not without casualties. At least it proved much less of a bloodbath than the first time, though Saul did say his recruits weren’t ready for that kind of assault. Wish we could’ve helped but Saber’s fighters were still being worked on when the assault happened. Makes me miss the techs on The Liberation more now. We also have secured the orbit of Ilum. I hear it’s a sacred world to the Jedi, all I know for sure is that it was quite pretty looking at it from orbit and Joules felt a kind of attraction and comfort when we jumped into the system. I’m gonna take that as a good sign. The fight in orbit wasn’t anything of note. The Sun fleet was small and ill prepared to fight a full battlegroup like that accompanied by The Phoenix. Rogue Squadrons new pilots seem to be acclimating just as well as my new pilots, though the fight was barely a true test. I’ve recommended Witt put them through sims of The Second Battle of Dathomir or hell, even our fight on Atramenta. Like I said, it's been rather calm. At least more so than usual. I guess the war is finally winding down. I just jinxed myself didn’t I? Commander Brask, Out. [END OF LOG]

Captain’s Log #58. I handed off Leia’s report from Jakku to Mon Mothma. She is pleased. We are concerned with how weak the Mandator is. It seems clear it wasn’t work constructing. We must stop the imperial fleets before they try anything serious. Yaga Minor seems to be stable. We must push the Black Sun out of the north. Push for Ilum. I’ll make sure high command is on board. Shack, if your looking to add Torpedo Boats to your fleets, Their is always the MC30s and MC40s from your CRUISER Shipyards. Im not trying to Harp on it but, YOU have almost NO "Cruisers" in your fleets. You have 16,000 credits coming in a week, you can order 3 or 4 Cruisers a Week and still make a profit, plus you can fit MORE Cruisers into battle then Capital ships. The Twin Blade is a Dreadnaught turned into a Turbo Laser Artillery platform (even has a few point defense guns) and Assault Frigate mk1 is a Modernized Dreadnaught (Its classed as a Destroyer, so it can punch above it weight class). The MC 30 and MC40 is are Torpedo Cruisers (the 30 is more of a Frigate i suppose) and the MC60 is a Support Cruiser with its mag pulse rockets. As for why you would use a MC75 late game while i can't speak from XP, if you look at it card: Its Fast for a capital ship (225 is FAST for a ship that size by comparison ISDs are like 200), it has LOTS of Torpedos (6 Protons, 2 ions) 12 Close range Turbo Lasers and it even has some Point Defense cannons in addition to its Laser cannons.

N-1 question was answered by Luke in New Hope. It is because the training platform of the xwing is a T16 skyhopper. Which is readily available. The parts are also readily available and can be produced anywhere. And because they can be produced anywhere the procurement teams don't look overly suspicious enough to be grabbed by ISB. Also some other stuff that happened in Legends was because of the massive number of Incom defectors that were rescued by the Rebellion. They helped manufacture and maintain the Xwings most of which were housed aboard the Fortressa which was the rebellions main naval carrier. They lost 500 xwings and the ship itself attacking the 1st Death Star way before the Battle at Yavin. Which was why there was only a handful of pilots left at the BaY.

The Gamma-class ATR-6 assault transport was a heavily armed and shielded vessel produced by KonGar Ship Works for transporting stormtroopers and conducting boarding actions against starships and space stations. The Rebel Alliance and various pirate factions also made wide usage of the craft.

Neutron Star bulk cruisers actually have a reasonable crew requirement for a heavy cruiser (about 2000). They were basically designed as second rate warships near the end of the clone wars that could double as cargo transports when necessary.

Shack I do highly recommend building the assault frigates, the dreadnought with 1 big engine blade on the back as support ships. They're quick and quite useful at flanking capital ships like a ISD

The Mc-75 is a weird case, the main use case i have for them in the late game is "Sacrificial lamb" get all of the enemy fire onto that ship to allow my other ships to do as much damage as they can. other then that they only really serve as an early brawler.

The New Independence should be called maybe "The Ghost of Akbar" The MC75 is a great ship at the beginning to mid game but after that it's not worth it. The MC80A Alliance takes The MC75's Place with a much longer range. This is why MC60's, MC80A's, Marauders, and Twin Blade frigates are great to have team up, yet the issue is balance and Fleet Cap. One nice thing about Marauders is that their range is immense, cap points are not very much at all, and 4 bunched up in the back of the line will make a good sized dent in a ships shields before the brawlers come into range. I find MC80A's, Twin Blades, and Marauders with one or two MC60's make for a hell of a fleet mixed with an MC80 Justice, a Dauntless, Liberator, Corvettes, and 2 or 3 Quasars.

Another reason that the N-1 wasn't the Rebels superiority fighter was because it was old, and because of it's age it was actually in universe the first ever fighter designed with a hyperdrive. As such it was rather slow through hyperspace and couldn't travel very far without needing refueling. With some upgrades however it could be a very formidable fighter.

I feel like the MC75 is much more versatile. The Dauntless wrecks capitals, but the MC75's torpedos do excellent on just about anything bigger than a fighter. Using them in conjunction with other capitals doesnt seem too bad. I think a Mc75 and its torpedo/disablers would do an amazing job at assisting the other larger vessels. Somewhat like the MC60 monitor. Pairing them with bubble shield MC80's and a victory seems like an AMAZING DPS setup. And you dont have to broadside to hit maximum damage potential! Also, A name for the new Flagship: The Bellicose

The Naboo Starfighter is lowkey the most badass looking and sounding fighter in the series. But yeah compared to an X-Wing it's basically a Lambo vs. a Toyota Camry. We can dream though.

Surrounding the core by taking all midrim planets of the Black Sun and the Empire, such as Atzerri, Jakku, Jeddha, Bilbringi, those sort of planets, I think is a good way to start. Vader's fleet over Carida is obviously a threat but combining the Pride of the Core with the Phoenix may be a good option to take it out. Don't forget your fighters - they are still really helpful for taking out shield generators; if you have your fighters in a dog fight your bombers can then squeeze through the front line to take out the undefended ships. Really enjoying the series so far, hope to see a New Republic playthrough in TR afterwards, and maybe back in FOTR, lots of things have changed in the recent updates :)

What I want to see is a Thrawn's Revenge campaign edited like this one, that follows up the events of this campaign from the losing Imperial side as one of the Imperial factions. Those are the factions with the most content and mechanics after all, though if you haven't played in years it might be overwhelming. In particular either Pentastar Alignment or Zsinj would be the best factions to play since they're so far from the New Republic and it would be able to build up into the biggest threat towards the end. Zsinj in particular has Tybur Zann in his forces, so it'd be like you were playing both losing factions from this campaign.

The MC75 is awesome I personally use it as a torpedo boat late game keep it constantly moving same as rebel one Have it do torpedo runs against ISDs if you take out a ISDs shields and engines with Ywings and call one of these in you can kill that isd fairly easily

Ive done that 'play patient' thing too in the army. Was funny seeing the small ladies(and some gents) training to be army docs trying to move my 21 stone brick out house of a body. They managed it though bless em - but when I told em my legs were busted I cant walk.. the look on their faces was priceless;) Obviously the bosses used me for the 'stretcher out' job because im big guy, cruel - but necessary. One point - transferring money from US to UK and vice versa is a total pain and often delayed, so bring a few hundred quid in cash.

Hi Shack i think the key to defeat Vaders Fleet is to go heavy on the MC60 cruiser basicaly get 1 MC60 for each ISD to massivly reduce thier damage and then blast them to bits with 2 Dauntless or similar brawlers. Loving this playthrouh

MC75s are useful for flanking maneuvers. Mon Cal ships are in general clunky and weird to move around (though they should be; they're freaking buildings and the Mon Calamari merchant fleet kind of slap dash repurposed as warships, hence the focus on defenses rather than offensive weaponry). It would be nice if the MC75 could be refitted to carry X-Wings or A-Wings though. It'd make them nicer in late game, when the Z-95 has essentially just become useless since everyone has stuff that vastly outclasses it. Though I also think it'd be kind of cool if, only on Naboo, the Rebels could get refits, at a fair cost, to replace their fighter compliments with the N-1, but that's just because I love the N-1. It's such a pretty ship, and actually pretty tanky for a civilization of near total pacifists. Though at the same time, they are supposed to defend the reigning monarch, and I guess you don't want to skimp.

The Profundity is a great damage sponge and its torpedoes are still useful late game. They don't hold up under focused fire though. I use them as a fullback to either absorb damage from things like Skyhooks or Golan II's & III's, but they're so dang slow.

We're getting so far along in the campaign I'm starting to wonder what Cpt. Shack's retirement plan would be. The only appropriate option has to be starting his long awaited caf company "Jawa Juice" and running the distribution hub out of the (also retired) Liberation.

You would have to check the Guide in game, but I'm pretty sure Commandship just means its the Center piece of the fleet. After all Dreadnaughts take up ALOT of room in space combat and they are kinda just "a warship" with alot of Laser weapons.

its interesting to see in that battle that one heavy tank just went off to fight its own thing, makes me wonder if there could be a discipline mechanic in a new version of these games, like moral breaks a unit and makes it run poor discipline makes them wonder off, so the empire would have an advantage with discipline and hold positions, stay on alert but the rebellion and black sun might suffer from "unit drift" just a thought...

Not every world needs generators and turbolasers. You could probably recoup thousands of credits by going through your worlds and selling defenses on worlds behind your front lines. If youre worried about dark trooper raids, low tier infantry garrisons or garrison outposts alongside supply depots should be sufficient. And far cheaper.

There are plenty of ships in the game that are just starter ships. Early on when you can't afford 28,000 credits a capital for 18,000 is needed. But near the end game you can afford everything. As the empire I was building Bellators for every fleet I had.

Also I've figured out that auto resolve works a lot better in the middle of the round when your ships are at their maximum potential you could have totally gotten a flawless victory on the auto resolve in that transport Battle if you did it in the middle of the fight
