The county and state should be held accountable for the environmental waste that they've allowed. I'm sure bond money from property taxes paid for the new school, but homeowners should be aware of just how disgracefully they left perfectly usable stuff. Certainly, at the very least, books and desks could be donated to 3rd world countries where children beg to have school supplies.

Held accountable how? No laws were broken. You'd have a hard time proving injury to any party, making a lawsuit unlikely, as well. Sure it sucks that so much was left behind, but none of it classifies as environmental waste, either. You'd have to convince a judge that students were exposed to environmental waste while the school was open, in order to make that allegation stick.

No. There are no grounds for any penalties here, nor is anything in that building inherently dangerous. This was a school, not an industrial facility. This is the epitome of how useless, thoughtless, and lazy the government can be. They could’ve asked for volunteers to help transfer everything or given out those books or done anything of value with those things yet they just left them there and the building to rot. Schools don't use projectors with film anymore... or even chalk boards. I asked my kid if they have to clap erasers if caught doing something wrong and he looked at me like I was from another planet. Teacher sits and her laptop projects and all the students have chromebooks with e mail and links where I can link into his chromebook from my phone and check his progress or the teacher can link into his chromebook if he's stuck with homework etc. We went to his old school while they tore it down and rummaged thru the rows of dumpsters and found overhead projectors, vcr, slide show scrolls etc. And it was like I was teaching a history class to him and his friends about all the stuff

There is so much stuff that can be donated or repurposed in the hands of the right people. A large building like that must be needed some where or for some function. I love the the architecture and the nice long corridors. There are so many reasons to keep this building in good condition and reuse it for a purpose to benefit the community or surrounding areas.
@SkunkApe407
@SkunkApe407 Жыл бұрын
The school was closed because it was falling into disrepair. It is generally cheaper to fix a building than it is to build a new one, so the building is most likely in such a condition that repairs would be expensive enough to make such a venture cost prohibitive. It would probably be better for the county to tear down the building an reuse the land for future public works projects.

You could argue that what the schoolboard did here was the greatest vandalization of all. If your hope for the future hangs on ‘vandals: to be or not to be’ you’re always gonna wander “am I alright?” One guy calls grafitti vandalization the other calls it art. Kids from a district over that never even had half of the stuff these mofos left behind in their school may not even know why they are mad as hell, while they just came in to make a cool youtube video about empty buildings, and now they feel like smashing up the walls…. Oooh, they must be cursed forever and have no future… See where I’m going?

This is my home state. This school was closed because a new one was built. Apparently the district was supposed to empty the school when students and staff moved to the new school.

Sad part is. You know the Administration is sitting a state-of-the-art building. No question they could have moved into this school and closed/rented out their plush offices. They could have easily assigned an assistant assistant assistant administrator to work nights to inventory what was left behind. They could have traded those books to another district. I will bet you they simply ordered new ones. If nothing else. Simply deploy existing supplies into the new building as needed. The spotlight shown @ 17:33 is worth 1500 bucks scrapped. The mercury glass lenses can no longer be made. I am sure some government use could of been done. As a person who uses a 15 year old laptop. I will bet you any of those abandoned laptops would be far better than mine.

The wasteed resources are truely appalling and infuriating! America is spoiled and sick. Thank you for bringing this to YT.

This has been a news story for a few weeks now. Board of Education was supposed to have the school cleaned out and failed to do so.
