The funny thing is the reason the fire nation was changed from Chinese coded to Indian coded was so he could play the fire lord. So even if he couldn't everyone exactly as he wanted he at the very least should have been able to make sure certain groups eather kept their original heritage or received a new heritage that represented the culture of the show.

Iroh not being fat is just WRONG. It's been the butt of an occasional joke- including by Iroh himself- but more importantly it's a part of his character design. That physique conveys a happy, contented kind of person who is moisturized, in their lane, and flourishing, which is exactly what Iroh is, but he also seems to have deliberately used it to make himself appear harmless despite still being very strong and agile in his old age, and his shedding the fat is a significant bit of characterization that shows he's still very disciplined, determined, and in control.

When they get to the scene where Haru’s people are being held prisoner for earth bending they are not on a metal ship. That would make sense since they wouldn’t be able to earth bend. Instead, they’re just at a regular prison camp…surrounded by earth. Instead of Katara, giving the motivation speech, it’s Aang and lack of motivation. Also, the bending in that film is _so_ slow. When the prisoners finally decided to rebel, it took six, yes six, earth benders to move a medium size rock that slowly hits a fire nation soldier. It’s a good thing guns weren’t invented in that world.

Earthbenders surrounded by earth being held captive by firebenders who have one little torch/fireplace that could easily be toppled over or extinguished since in this world firebenders can't create fire. The earthbenders had a huge advantage.

You’re 100% correct it could be so much worse. At least the Netflix version pronounces the main character’s name correctly because in the 2010 version they can’t even say “Aang” right. They mispronounce “Aang” as “Oong”. What makes it so much more annoying is how before the movie was released the Director M. Night Shamalon went around talking about how much he loved the original and how excited he was for the opportunity to faithfully adapt it into live-action. Yet he has everyone in the movie say the Aang’s name wrong even though there’s probably somewhere around a 1000 examples of it being said throughout the original series the first of which being within the first 5mins of the first fucking episode!!!!

Damn the double standard between 2 properties is jarring. People who voiced out their opinion about the percy jackson cast using the same logic , but the people just plug their ears and scream racism 🙄 like theres nothing in their brain, no space for any sort of critism is allowed what so ever. Yall put so much trust in an author that took his fame way to seriously, dunking on the bad percy movies for years only to make his own adaption a snorefest. Ricky flexed the wrong mucle but still think he's god. Disclaimer im not white nor american at all, and i love the books. But even if good ol' ricky were to cast someone thats the same race as me, i would still say the same thing. Imagine foreign readers and fans from across the world saying they dont like the cast and then have a bunch of white americans calling us racist 😅 This is why anime has been topping disney for years already . Majority of their adaption are actually true to the manga or novel (with a few exception) Hell even when the anime didnt adapt it right the anime still garner love and a strong fan base. i.e fullmetal Alchemist vs Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. So why cant western books, comic, games , cartoon etc recieve the same love and respect from hollywood?

@@thesecretwombat056What about native people in general? The actress for Katara is Mohawk, not Inuit, and Sokka is Cherokee. So maybe they could have gotten an exclusively native cast if they opened it up to all natives and not just inuit and yupiks. Although it'd probably be difficult still

Look I’ll say this, I like how this new ATLA has Asian cast. But everyone is silent when white characters in fantasy settings based on Europe are casted with non-European actors (example house of the Dragon and the Witcher). It’s a double standard.

The problem is that there have been a ton more white representation to begin with. They have always inserted white people into roles we shouldn't have gotten. When casting characters for a live action series/movie based upon an animated series you should cast actors/actresses that look like the animated character they will be playing. It makes the character instantly recognizable. The moment they appear on screen your brain instantly connects the live action version with their animated counterpart without any mental gymnastics or suspension of belief needed.

The exact same situation but reversed. Is he racist? See, I'm not an arse hole. I don't know him so I'm not going to slander him. I will simply point out hypocrisy. Important to note, on the other video I saw before I saw this, I started I don't care about the race, I just think it's funny that people will complain about race swapping done one way and defend it when it's done the other way and get angry at each other because they are just looking into a mirror... And this guy just proved my point
