Lol Actually, there's an incredible beautiful young lady with the imagination and creative hability to turn a curtain into a personal version of a designer dress that are very amazing that decided to cut her hair using toenail clippers! And the results she got were impressive and frankly, I've seen salon cut turned out much worse! 😁 Please go check Micarah Tewers youtube, you'll find it easily I'm sure! She is a great soul too, genuine and so funny how she deconstructs the rigid ways things are "supposed" to be done for ways to do things so it gives the results you wanted... most times anyways!! Lol Thanks to you, I learn a lot from your tips! That's something that would have helped greatly some of them ending up in the Fail videos!!

They really do expect their hair to be perfectly even with one giant chop. Why do you think it takes a hairdresser at least 20 minutes for a blunt cut? It's not that simple.
@ColleenMarble3 жыл бұрын
I have thin, fine, super straight hair. All of it together is less than one of the sections the first girl had. I cut it myself using this technique, but I never EVER have fewer than 8 sections, and I cut BELOW the ponytail holder, not above. I get good results, but it's because I SECTION MY HAIR, and I don't have super thick hair which I'm sure makes it easier. I also curl my hair or wear it up, never just straight and plain, so the blunt cut works for me. But it's always even. It takes me a lot more time to section and measure than it does to cut (with real hair-cutting shears).

Confession: I've been cutting my hair on my own for the past 4 years with various ponytail cutting methods. Didn't want to bother the hair stylists with my icky scalp, seborrhoeic eczema really destroyed my self esteem. But that's gone now, I've been clear since february and completely healed up. So I did my research and found a good salon who'll try to get my hair to the silver I've been dreaming of. My appointment is friday! Edit: I have wavy/curly hair and always wore it curly or in an updo, no one ever suspected a thing.

When I was little kid my mother used to cut my hair and even trimmed my bangs,too. One time when I was almost 7 years old my father cut it shorter in a bob cut for the summer. One time my grandmother cut my bangs very short and crooked. I was 8 years old when she did it. The last time that my mother cut my hair that I was 10 years old towards my shoulders. I went to a beauty salon when I was still 10 years old in a bob. The following year that I got my hair cut short. When I was in my teens that I had short haircuts. I decided to tried to grow out my hair in my early 20’s. I had a layer bob hair style. In my mid 20’s my hair was long for a few years of haircuts and trims. In my early 30’s I went back to short hair. I even had different styles of short haircuts. In early March of 2020 that I had my first faux hawk haircut. I did loved it. It looked like a moe hawk. It was so cool looking and even a little bit edgy for me.

Sections, sections, sections! The last time I cut my son's hair, he felt like I was taking too long while I was sectioning it. He wanted to leave the hair on top long (he let me do a trim) and add an undercut. I did spend forever sectioning it to where I wanted the undercut to be, but the result was worth it! 😂 It came out so good, I was proud of myself, and best of all my son was happy! I think patience is really important when doing hair.

When I was in high school back in the last century (😳), I had very long, permed hair. (And yes, my friend permed my hair one day because we were bored. Luckily it turned out pretty good.) I would trim it myself using the ponytail method - with the hair in a ponytail on the crown of my head I would flip it upside down and trim an inch or two off. Because it was so long and permed, you really couldn’t tell. I did it mainly to remove dead ends. But when I decided to cut it into a chin length bon, I went to the hair stylist I hadn’t seen since 8th grade because neither my friend nor I were capable of giving a proper haircut. Impromptu perm on never dyed hair or trims, yes. Major cut, no. People, please know your limitations.

Lol okay don't come for me but I do the ponytail method when my hair is longer (like mid back) to create a U shaped hemline. You start with a V, then have someone help you trim the end off and for me it works pretty well. I think the difference is that I use the ponytails to keep my hair together, then slide my fingers down to the ends and trim that. Not chopping above the ponytail. Edit: now when my hair was shorter (like shoulder length), I took sections and worked my way up from the back of my head (underlayer) up. Otherwise it'll be really obviously uneven.

I've actually had better success cutting my own layers myself at home with curtain bangs....mainly because of the same reason- the stylists in my town would always cut my hair way too short (I love my long thick wavy/curly hair), and never do well on giving me curtain bangs, they always want to cut it according to the side I always part it - that's not how I want my bangs to be cut! They do what THEY want, never what I ask either!
