reminds me of the Tambo river in Gippsland years ago, trying to catch some black bream but all you could see are submarine sized carp cruising top water up and down the river and they would not touch a bait or lure so tried to snag them with metal slugs.
@bushfishncook212810 күн бұрын
Well there you go they really are bloody everywhere... They seem extra fussy in the salt, I catch plenty on lure in the fresh. There were a few giants in this pod of mud whales too hahaha Cheers for watching and I appreciate the comment mate 👍

I’ve caught carp in lake chipped Norton In the Georges river at Landsvale. You can also catch flathead, bream, bass, mud skippers, Jew fish, Taylor, mullet, eel tail cat fish, black fish, flounder, sting rays, silver biddies, sweep, tarpon and leather jackets and I’ve seen jellyfish there too. There have been bull shark sightings also.

I've heard of them in chippo many times, strange to think they will sit in the same spot you can catch a jewie... My mates went down last year and one caught a jewie and the other caught a mud Marlin in the same spot... Definitely heard of bullies getting around there too. The fish that look like tarpon are actually Australian herring, we don't get tarpon this far down... The mud skippers are interesting, definitely mud skippers? I thought they were also a northern species. Chippo is definitely an interesting fishery, over heard of big Bass there too, a bloke I was speaking said he gets them on the frogs at night and once caught a meteor plus Jew on a frog while going for Bass, he had a pic with a big Daiwa kicker curly hanging from the jewies mouth, crazy stuff...

Some nice fish in a cool spot, but are we looking and hearing the next Australian Idol winner :) Those Koi towards the end were different for that spot, it's very strange. Nice job Mick!
@bushfishncook212810 күн бұрын
Hahaha I usually edit that stuff out but thought, I would leave it in for a laugh 😂 No idea what Koi and carp were doing in the brackish water, I have heard of carp doing this, to help remove disease but it was the first time seeing it in person... Hope Santa was good to you and Leigh hahaha Merry Christmas and happy New year mate

I normally catch a mud marlin or a few in brackish water up here in northern NSW richmond river and I also caught flathead and bream while chasing bass in complete freshwater
@bushfishncook212810 күн бұрын
Well there you go, definitely not something I've seen before... Interesting to hear it seems like a common occurrence around your area. How far up the fresh would you say that you've caught Bream and flatties? Is there a Weir in between the fresh and salt there?
@dwayno_unknown10 күн бұрын
@bushfishncook2128 there's a place in casino NSW called greys falls it's a natural waterfall/water flows over it it's not a weir and the bream and flathead sit below it and it's pure freshwater it's a bit of a distance to the salt even brackish water from there and I am talking about 50cm+ flathead and good size bream 30cm chunky bream

@dwayno_unknown wow that is super interesting, if I'm ever about that way, I will have to try check it out 👍

Going for a wade looks like a nice way to keep cool on a hot day. Would not have thought you would find carp there as that would have to be salty water wouldn’t it?
@bushfishncook212811 күн бұрын
One of the best ways to fish on a hot day 👍 Definitely very brackish water up there... Plenty of Bream and flatties, turn my head and see a school of carp and a bunch of koi... Definitely not something I've seen before, I've seen them in the brackish during the floods before but that's it.

@ yea it was a good vid the water in this system you where fishing looks a lot more cleaner than some of the spots you’ve fished lately I don’t think a saw a single piece of rubbish on the banks or floating in the water.

Yet there were still signs saying water may be polluted... Not sure any water in Sydney is safe.
@Danscrazyadventures10 күн бұрын
@@bushfishncook2128 yep when I wanted to go fishing in Sydney around 7 years ago my mum said not to eat any of the fish I had caught there and back than no body was really talking about water quality cause they thought that the government had stopped the dumplings into the waterways but it was all just a big cover up.
@bushfishncook212810 күн бұрын
@Danscrazyadventures yeah it all looked during and a few years after the Olympics... But as you said it was just a cover for the nasty toxins, lying at the bottom of the rivers and creeks

I just found out how absolutely ass trebles are i went fishing in a stocked private lake for skygazer (topmouth culter) and hooked in to at least 6 of them probably snagged a few and i didnt land a single one longest i probably kept one on the hook for 1min or so they fight like jewies
@bushfishncook212810 күн бұрын
I prefer single hooks or assist hooks over trebz any day 👍 The trick with trebz is to feel the weight of the fish first, then set it really hard I find...
@justana350710 күн бұрын
That’s interesting, I’ve never had a problem with hooking fish in trebz before I wonder if you where using blunt or not the right size ones 🤔

@bushfishncook2128 40 years ago I sat down on the end of a wharf on the coast down from Townsville and dangled my legs over the sea, flew into Townsville from Auckland hired a car and drove south down the coast for a day. As I'm thinking I might just get my gear off and jump in a local guy on a boat noticed me and told me the Crocs would be able to take my leg before I could react. 🤣 I stood up and looked where he was pointing and sure enough one was swimming over to say hi. Apparently they would take fish people caught by standing up on their tails in the water. I drove all the way to Brisbane over 5 weeks. Best holiday I ever had. Every town had its own beer. Wish I had found a Sheila and gone native.
