With a 2 goal lead going into the 3rd period, Andersson and the Canes completely gave up and let in 3 straight goals to lose the game and be eliminated by the Rangers in 6 games.

The news just broke regarding Rod Brind'Amour signing an extension with the Canes, I will include that reaction in my Avs video I am working on today. The Avs video is gonna take maybe another day, if you didn't see the jerseys behind me I am a life long fan, but I'm not holding back. Avs played horrid, they're getting the Leafs treatment. But, Dallas did play incredible, that was also a goal in the first OT.

Actually, Messier's Hattie pulled the Rangers even 3 games each, setting the stage for "Matthau, Matthau, Matthau!" In 2 OT of game 7.

I'll give you that, after editing I realized wording it as a "series clinching game" was done poorly, should've used the up against elimination and not series clinching since it does sound like they where the ones up for clinching and not the Devils in game 6

Igor was the major difference maker in this series I think. Kreider’s natural hat trick was an act of sheer playoff heroism like no one has seen in years but I think this series was over all decided by goal tending. Igor was spectacular.

People who believe the team with more shots on goal means that team is playing better and or should be winning/dominating obviously don't watch much hockey and or understand it very well. The # of SOG means absolutely nothing if they aren't high % & Carolina is known to just throw shots at the net from anywhere.
@robertperrotto870
@robertperrotto870 29 күн бұрын
Not gonna lie, Carolina had a lot of quality chances in which they had Igor beat, but hit iron, missed the net, or mishandled the puck. Canes fans are really beating Andersen down, but the games were lost because the Canes skill players couldn't finish, and the Rangers skill players did. Andersen kept them in every game, but the Canes just couldn't score that elusive 4th goal but once.
@BlueLineDuster
@BlueLineDuster 28 күн бұрын
I agree with that, mostly. The way I see shots and from how I was coached is it's better to get shots on their net over defending in your zone and letting your goalie get peppered. Yes, they did just send shots at the net with no screen or strategy which 99% of the time wont squeak in, but its better to spend more time in your offensive zone over your defensive zone. Especially when up by 2 goals in the 3rd trying to close out the game

Your right. Ppl get fixated on data & stats which can be helpful but sometimes what you see is what you get. I live in the UK & ppl get totally carried away on stats in f/ball when mid-game only 2 stats matter; the score & the mins remaining!! see teams win soccer matches having 2 shots & 30% possession, winning 1-0. The amount of data in hockey & other Nth American sports is enough to totally warp my simple sports loving mind!!!

You guys who keep preaching about shot attempts like it's actually important really don't watch much hockey do you? Buzzing around and taking tons of perimeter shots without screens or the correct players to sit in front and tip shots in (Kreider) doesn't do much except make your metrics look better. All the Rangers do is weather the storm and when they get their chances to counter they finish unlike the Canes. The Rangers had won 9 of 11 against the Canes going into the series including knocking them out of the playoffs on the road 2 years ago, and beating them on the road late in the season to take 1st place and 1st seed. If you add the first 3 games of the series it becomes 12 of 14 tell me again why they were favored. Not only are the Rangers better in net and STs they have better offensive players who finish. I do actually do feel for Canes fans they have a great team maybe top 3-4 in the NHL but there is a reason they lose to the Rangers in important games hint, they are a better constructed and better team.
@BlueLineDuster
@BlueLineDuster 29 күн бұрын
Oh I totally agree with the shot attempts, I was using it to show the lack of continuous chances the canes failed to capitalize on, like you said where the Rangers and Kreider took the smart shots. I will agree though that the Rangers are a power house and 100% the better constructed team, clearly given the Canes had a golden chance up 3-1 going into the 3rd and just completely letting off the gas and letting Kreider and the Rangers turn the tables completely and win the series.

@@BlueLineDuster Don't be to hard on the Canes... I still think they are one of the best teams in the league. They lost two OT games, which in some ways reminds me of the Rangers losing to the Kings in 2014 finals. They lost 4 games to 1, but three of them were OT, and they had plenty of chances in those losses. To this day I do not feel badly about that 2014 loss as I know they played great and for a bounce here, a save there, the series could have gone completely different. Same here. Also, just FYI... Messier got his hat trick in game 6, not the clincher, which was an OT winner by Stéphane Matteau in game 7.

Shots on goal can be a VERY deceptive statistic ....akin to hits in baseball ...some of which are bloop singles or other chip shots ....yes they can score a run / goal , but , not very often ....the balance in hockey is a fine line between passing one too many times & not enough.Yes , the Rangers do have a shot. It is exactly 30 yrs since the last Stanley 🏆 Cup , so perhaps the stars are aligned, but Florida will be tougher than Boston. If they get by the Panthers, they just might win it .....

Actually shots matter and u cant score without them and shots are different than shot attempts since theyre only counted if they actually get through to the goalie so getting shots on the goalie is important and takes a level of intelligence as many “perimeter shots” get blocked by the defence or deflected away or out of play. Im gonna disagree with you and agree with the greatest player in nhl history when he said you miss 100% of the shots you dont take

I love your enthusiasm for the Rangers but a little correction...the last time a natural Hat Trick happened to eliminate a team was 97' and Gretzky did it to eliminate the Florida Panthers. But if your company is Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky, I think you definitely did something special and I hope he finally gets the C he's deserved for the past 3 Seasons. People are giving the Bruins crap because they weren't getting any shots on goal. So saying shots don't count isn't as simple as that. Forsling threw a shot that had no right going in. Saying shots on goal don't count because it's quanity not quality. Yeah absolutely, but the more talented well coached team will win 90 percent of seven game series. The big upset last year was only one due to Florida trying to gel, and become that physical squad Maurice knew was needed. Going forward, Florida has been better. They were already talented as they won the Presidrnts trophy the year before, but got bullied by Tampa. New York is better constructed, Carolina doesn't have a top line guy that would scratch their second line. So they needed to put shots on goal. Offense is your best defense when you are outmanned. Carolina can't go toe to toe with top skating teams. Couldn't do it last year, they get the most out of their talent. So people saying they choked is silly.
@robertperrotto870
@robertperrotto870 29 күн бұрын
they absolutely choked in that Game 6, and the series. The Rangers were poised to sweep them in game 4 if not for the soft call on Lindgren. I also will be the first to say that crosschecking call that gave the Rangers the PP that tied it was also a soft call, but I think the refs were making up for the missed delay of game just a few minutes earlier. ( just an observation , but I have watched every game this postseason, and the refs are absolutely horrible with what they call and don't call and are NOT consistent as well). Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with letting the boys play, just be consistent in what you are calling so everyones on the same page.
