One little detail I love about this chapter in the remake is that Vivian’s lines were changed, as she always acted surprised about the place, despite her showing up at the X Naut fortress in cutscenes. In the remake, she has lines acknowledging she has knowledge of the place.

They did something kinda similar with giving Goombella a new area tattle, immediately after you use the portal to Rogueport for the first time, in the original game even though the partner you have with you will say something like "Where are we??" Goombella's tattle somehow knows they are below Rogueport. Which I always did just to kind of poke fun, but in this version they actually changed her dialogue...and only before you open the door out for the first time. That is insane attention to detail.

36:26 ***SPOILERS*** I always took it as the fortress DOES explode, but the Crystal Stars end up fixing it and reviving TEC during the final battle, just like how the Gold Star revives Mush after Grubba admits he basically killed the guy and that he "ain't around anymore." It's not like the base DIDN'T explode--even the Rogueport message board mentions that weird stuff happened on the moon that people could SEE. Plus TEC mentions in the postgame that he only came back online after hearing Peach's voice, and now suddenly he and the base that were abandoned and running out of power now work at full capacity? The Crystal Stars caused a miracle and saved TEC.

I think I might have realized why they didn't use the fancy in-game keyboard for Yoshi, but used it for everything else. The Switch keyboard has the innate language filter built in so you can't name your Yoshi swears and shit. In other instances, the game doesn't actually repeat what you typed in, so while you can type swears characters won't say it.

Nah not true, I named my Yoshi “Fucker” and it let me. The end of the game was hilarious when goombella was giving a recap of the post-game. She’s like “oh, and little Fucker? He’s fighting in the glitz pit solo!!” I was lmfao. There are also bits of dialogue during chapter 3 with people in the lobby of the glitz pit who say your yoshi’s name. Also, when you are getting your name written on you before you take the twilight pipe, if you have yoshi out as your parter he asks what his name is, and he says “Fucker, baby!”

I love how the partner hint system works, basically has Goombella with the general hints, but if any party abilities are needed, the respective partner will chime in. It really makes it feel like a party all working together. Anyway, what I was gonna say is that if you use the hint the moment you leave Frankley's place, Goombella will say he's probably already done.

I am 100% of the opinion that the Gamecube was the best console ever designed specifically to introduce someone to videogames who had never played them before. Having the name differences AND the colour differences AND the shape/size differences is absolutely perfect for a brand new player who hasn't memorized "how controllers work" yet to remember with button is which and learn the layout for button prompts easily in a way no controller before or since has done.

I actually didn't know the mayor of petalburg had a progression hint towards general white, because the the town greeter also has one. For how frequently ms.mowz isn't helpful in battle, I did just have her on the field constantly to make sure I never missed anything from the moment she was available. It may not be directly helpful like the other partner abilities, but it was really nice for someone like me who hasn't played the game in over 10 years.

I was entering the Fahr Outpost and got so insanely stomped, that I went back to the town and bought everything I could to improve myself, Items, Badges, anything. Just so you know, with the recipes you only need to have the item in your inventory, you no longer need to actually make it, so its recommended you do Troubles before Recipes.

Magnus von Grapple 2.0's remix theme is one of my favorite tracks from the remake so far, feels like I'm part of an intergalactic rave during the battle I also love that every time you fight Crump, his theme is slightly different per chapter just like how the main battle theme changes depending on location/chapter

And then it could always cut back to Luigi and his partner to telling their conflicting sides of the climax. Regardless, each fan will have their own preference and it’s all just wishful thinking at this point😂

I remember my feelings in the original compared to the remake, I have to say that the devs did SO MUCH quality control for General White. The world pipe hub means you can get to every location instantly, compared to the OG where you had to go to Glitzville and Twilight Town which had no fast travel pipe. The partner hint button (ZL) also gives you a good read on who to talk to (except for glitzville, that one i had to remember the bar guy). In the OG, when the game tried to do that joke about having to jump on General White repeatedly to wake him up, I was furiously mashing the button just saying "STOP WASTING MY TIME WITH THIS JOKE". In the remake, I actually laughed at it.

Something I will always hate about General White backtracking is having to find him in Goldbob's trouble. 11:15 Never played the original (only this one), so when I he was asking me to give him *all* of my coins, I actually had to look up what the correct action to proceed was and if he actually did take all coins. It was not out of the question in my mind that he *would* take all the coins (especially as it's a remake of a 20yr old game), and at this point in time I had over 2,000 Aint no way I'm risking losing *that* many coins.

I love the dread when the Yux did 5 damage in the overworld.. so they still made it advisable to avoid it lol instead of "okay 1 damage, prefer that over a whole battle" but no you wanna avoid them overall, especially doing low HP runs.. unless you know what you are doing and nuke enemies on first strike Btw.. I dunno if I am crazy but was Frankly's "voice" Doopliss? Like was it implied they already swapped him since.. would make sense to draw Mario to the door as fast as they can.. plus why would Frankly be in the sewers randomly? The fortress still being short.. I wonder if they didn't change it so then people don't complain of "artificially" lengthening it just for the remake.. like what would they do? How would they force you into the other rooms without maybe randomizing the access code so you have to look for it or whatever, that's my only idea that still wouldn't add too much

17:12 yup that's the unfortunate part, Super/Ultra Hammer "Slow Spin" in the remake is majorly nerfed. aside from not breaking the beeg blocks w/Slow Spins(valid), you have to do the full animation otherwise its a normal hammer 1st strike, which's really weird when the original always counted Slow Spins as a Super/Ultra Hammer 1st strike. cuz you're literally doing the animation, so the charge shouldn't matter, but it do in the remake. for stuff like pit for example yeah Super/Ultra Hammer almost near useless w/o Flurrie in field to stun them, or you purposefully run away, cuz enemies are often way too fast to ever get to the full charge. and even if/when you do get the full charge, Floating enemies like Embers/Wizzerds/Lakitus/Puffs actually may not get hit cuz the hitbox of Super/Ultra Hammer doesn't work too well on them. As much as I know the OG TTYD soundtrack by heart, the new sound track really slaps, especially Chapter 3 onwards. My favorite so far is the Cortez Boss fight, as a metal enjoyer it just goes so hard.

when i talked to Goldbob and saw the "Everything I have!" option, i left the area to go buy gold bars and deposit them in storage, thinking i was cleverly avoiding wasted coins, only to realize id instead wasted my time... 😅

I am 100% of the opinion that the Gamecube was the best console ever designed specifically to introduce someone to videogames who had never played them before. Having the name differences AND the colour differences AND the shape/size differences is absolutely perfect for a brand new player who hasn't memorized "how controllers work" yet to remember with button is which and learn the layout for button prompts easily in a way no controller before or since has done.
