Your videos keep showing up on my KZbin feed, and I find myself drawn to them. Even though I usually don’t watch anything over 20 minutes, I’m surprised at how I stay engaged, learning from your work. I particularly appreciate how you express your humanity in such a simple and genuine way. Keep up the great work and continue sharing your views-you’re not harming anyone, just being yourself. Wishing the best for your dog, and may God bless you. I haven’t sent any money yet, but I know I will soon. God bless you once again. Greetings from Indio, California, where it’s always sunny and perfect for a bike ride! ❤❤

I have worked from home ever since the start of covid. In the winter, there have been entire weeks where I never even went outside. The VA gave me a super crazy bright light. It pretends to be the sun, and it seems to make a difference. I have it on all day when I’m working at my desk. It doesn’t do anything for the other 50 ways I’m broken, but its something anyway. The new smart trainer is incredible though. I pedaled 30 miles on Saturday and 20 more on Sunday. All in the basement with the Rouvy app. Someday I hope to be good enough to do some of those crazy long distance rides that you do sometimes. The ebike, the old trek, and the smart trainer are in the process of saving my life. Another great video by the way. Thanks.

When you said something about a conversion, I thought we were in for another 1x conversion. This bike would've been PERFECT for it! I agree that those old MTBs are great as ATBs; I have two that are setup like that Gary Fisher bike, and they're perfect for riding everywhere.

I have always been more into BMX style bikes, rather than multi speed MTBs. I obtained a crusty red 1999 Gary Fisher Wahoo that someone left outside to deteriorate for years. I completely removed and discarded most of the components and converted it to a single speed with new 26" Haro Legend gold alloy rims with a freewheel and chain tensioner setup. In my opinion, it turned out to be kinda a best of both worlds bike and one of my favorite riders in my hoard. Wish I could attach a pic to this comment to show it off!

The nose down position on the seat is going cause hand numbness too. That will make the rider slide forward causing them push back at the arms csyding extra pressure on hands. They were probably feeling numb butt or gooch discomfort… seems logical but can cause issues. Great find by the way!

@recstoppauseplay6 сағат бұрын
Thanks Andy, good stuff as always and truing stand rants are always good. For seat posts, I like Park Tool SAC-2 carbon and alloy assembly compound. Great for non threaded aluminum and steel joints. 'Had one bike where the seat would slowly slide down every ride and this compound fixed it. It's also a lube so will make disassembly easy in the future. Another thing I've learned is the use of isopropyl alcohol for installing and removing handlebar grips. The grips slide easily on and the alcohol evaporates leaving a strong seal.

98 Gary Fisher Wahoo. That is right in the middle of my favorite Gary Fisher era. I’ve got both a 97 and 98 HKEK, both with similar treatments of comfy bars and plush tires. It makes them great town bikes for bopping around on and not taking yourself too seriously.

That wide C9 seat you took of the bike is more for the upright riding position like you said on a cruiser bike. I just replaced the stock seat on my mountain bike with a Cloud 9 non suspension comfort seat. Big difference going over the bumps and on long rides.

It is very cool having a one-eyed dog :) Rocco will be fine. Just a head's up though, you may encounter instances where you go to pet him, especially from the side the eye is missing from, and it startles him. That happens occasionally with our one-eyed fur-baby, and she'll nip in reaction, although she isn't really being hostile.

Hi, Just so you know, the crank on that bike was recalled back in 1997 In fact, a lot of the bikes you work that were produce in the late ‘90’s and early 2000’s have the cranks. If you contact Shimano then will send you a replacement crank, front derailer, bottom bracket, and chain.

I love those first replacement bars. Swept backs are my favorite style. I prefer silver to black, but then I date back to when hot bikes ran on 27" tires. My nod to modernity is twist grips. Triggers are too new-fangled, and too prone to clogging up. Simple and stupid is my favorite technology.

Mate .100% totally agree with your slant in this latest post of yours . I’ve visited the bike shops in the city in live in Australia . It’s about 170 thousand people and easily the biggest city for hundreds of miles in all directions so you would think they service the needs of bike riders yeah ? I set myself a thing one day to visit all bike sales shops , including Kmart and BigW … your Walmart , and search for a sensible bike for my lady partner . She does not need a bike . She has 3 ready riders and she definitely loves the Gazelle Carbon Alloy Lite Line Hybrid . What a bike . She has a Nitro Nostalgic Dutch bike in alloy and a nice cheap China Walmart bike that I converted to a Shimano Nexus 7 speed because she just does not understand how to stay on the pedals and shift the derailleur in good timing … So I went shopping and found nothing for under $600 . There were a few dopey beach cruisers . Nothing …anyway we are barking up the same tree The value in sensible bikes that 90% of cyclists ride is simply finding a bike with “ good bones “ and get to work It’s not that hard but there is not a sensible bike shop in my city .lots of my friends ride bikes I’ve built for them for a few hundred bucks . If you understand bikes , how they work , have donor bikes or a good eye for pre owned bikes that you can rob parts from And a stand and the tools . That’s were it is man . Love your work

Hey Bike Farmer! I have recently found your content. I just wanted to say thank you because you have reminded me of how much I love to work on bikes. I completed Barrnets Bicycle Institute mechanics school in 1991. How you work and a lot of tips you provide are things I learned in class especially "wipe as you go" that one was drilled into us. I worked as a mechanic back then as well and they did the cheap tune-ups similar to how you do them. You use Tri-flow which is another sign for me that you are in the know and that you have been at this a long time. That stuff was the standard at Barnnets. Does your shop keep regular business hours still? I would like to come visit sometime I am just down the road a piece near MKE.
