I remember Barbara Britton on the TV series Mr. are Mrs. North back in the 1950's. She was always glamorous. She died at a early age of 60.

She also co-starred with Ray Milland and Walter Slezak in "Till We Meet Again", a WW2 movie.

oooh a reference to Diogenes (4th century BC Greek philospher) in casual conversation of guys hiding out from the cops ! That's something you don't get everyday in B movies.. .Odd that the guys hiding out in a basement for days on end keep wearing their ties all the time
@davegreene85885 жыл бұрын
Keeping the ties on - probably a vain attempt to prevent their B.O. from seeping out of their dirty shirts.
@xmillion17045 жыл бұрын
Yes, Diogenes, a nice touch by a pedantic scriptwriter and frustrated novelist, we may assume.

This movie is so bad it's good. Love the scene where he flips over the bed the critically wounded guy is lying in in order to get away from the cops, yet he's the GOOD guy!!! Also love the scene where he jumps out of the window onto a tree but the window is clearly on the ground floor! Many more scenes that are outstandingly terrible await.
@gsf58828 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure he was already dead by that point.
@britishmiller36656 жыл бұрын
I think the man was dead at that time. The window and the tree...yes, that was funny!
@jasoncollins17025 жыл бұрын
Of course he was dead, which is what makes the bed flipping so unusual for the time; and that's one thing that makes this a good movie, period. Also, there's no clear indication through the window that's he's on the first floor. That's a pretty short tree if he is!

Fun movie but full of holes and lots of them. One, where the hell did he get and was able to record the record for the jukebox? The two leaving in the end, where did the car come from? Oh, the days of B pictures and a time of innocents of people.
@jasoncollins17025 жыл бұрын
One, she got the record from a record pressing plant; and he rewired the jukebox and strung a lead. (Did you think he really wanted air? It had been established that he was a technical person, having fixed everything faulty in the restaurant.) Two, they got the car from a car yard.

While the movie may have been produced by Paramount's B Unit, the acting is passable, the story line hangs solid with a certain psychological acuity justifying motivation and behavior.

...and I suppose they "made" you punch out that female med student as well!?!
@brianwellbrock84315 жыл бұрын
Triggered
@jasoncollins17025 жыл бұрын
What would you have done? Let her scream and take the chair? I'm sure he didn't want to do it, just as he wasn't really a killer. That's the dramatic irony of the situation that drives the plot, and the knocking out of the student adds to the growing sense of urgency. (It's more telling of the era that a female does the clean up; and I'm certain Tom would've knocked out a male student with equal disregard.) Tom's patronising attitude towards his female partner, on the other hand, gives her the opportunity to assert herself, and help him; and it's these complexities that make the scene with the female medical student far from being in any way irresponsible or offensive.
@xmillion17045 жыл бұрын
Yes, the producers and scriptwriters of this piece of fiction, very literally made that character appear as if to punch out many other characters, including the one you specified. This was no white knight, but a morally compromised character, whose greed led him to make some questionable choices.

If you come across other movies that are too dark, tilt your screen forwards . It will lighten the picture somewhat. Though I must admit, doing it , did not help so much on this movie.
