I really dislike how the culture in our country has moved into making issues Black and White. And disregarding the individual themselves and just looking at their skin tone. I agree, seeing people as a monolith based on perceived race is harmful and erases individual identities and culture. Many Americans seem to forget how differently race and culture is perceived depending where you are in the world and how many cultures exist within a single racial group.

So do American parents, that’s why they’re demonising the schools. Don’t claim to be “anti establishment” if you’re gonna complain and conjure up conspiracies about children being taught to hate America in schools and then proceed to also vehemently stand by how things have always been in the education system, which was in fact white washed indoctrination to make America look like a beacon of freedom when the reality is in fact much different.

This only happens in the western world. You go to Asian or African countries and this thing is almost non existent. Yes there are poverty and populations issues but their culture has remained the same for a very long time. We are the ones trying to make a desicion by saying “we are still oppressed we need change”. This country has more free will and recourses than other countries. Yes sometimes they censor those information but the internet is a vast library and if we do enough digging we reach the truth. The culture we invented here in America is brand new and it isnt perfect right away. Our culture is changing every single day while others countries have maintained a culture that works for everyone in that country. I think we need to take some notes from other countries for once and see how they manage their society

I don't get it about education in America. Isn't education must teach everything, especially in history subject, the good, the bad and the ugly? In Indonesia, history lesson in our school not only teach how our founding fathers built our country, but also how some of them turn became bad person. we also learn the bad tragedy that happens in our country, like 30 September tragedy and 1998 tragedy. In doing so, we learn loving our country even more and try to be better so that bad tragedy will not happen again.

They want to know that their children won't come home and ask questions they can't answer. This is willful ignorance and stupid of this community to state, "Not here." I think the issue with alot of this is that we as a people have forgotten how to listen, we're at the point where all we can do is talk and talk and not even consider what the person your arguing with is saying. You cant just pick a side and say this one is completely right 100% because its impossible for anybody to be 100% correct especially in america where we have all sorts of cultures and people. The idea of america is to be a coming together of all ideas and all perspectives, and that cant happen if you wont atleast take the time to listen and study the other side. We do not win this "civil war" in victory, we win it in compromise. and through each little compromise we will grow closer to true equality.

Tupac was an iconic poet, his lyrics were extremely influential and reflective of marginalized communities. If anything, you should be complaining about Christopher Columbus being taught in school and painted as a heroic figure when in reality he murdered Native Americans to steal their land.

@@danwohlslagel1277 Because Critical Race Theory is an actual specific legal theory taught and graduate and law schools. What's taught outside of that that people wrongfully refer to as CRT is just history. The theory itself simply just deals with the fact that racist ideology is enshrined within many systems in the U.S. and that is the biggest problem with racism and not individual racists.

There is a super simple answer here… Just don’t send your kids there! I have five kids, my oldest is 24 and exactly 19 years ago I refused to send her to public school… Same with the rest of my kids. I have never regretted that decision. A decision which is mine alone… It’s not up to everyone else to decide what schools my kids should go to, or that they should go at all.

Truly so telling of the lack of education and awareness in this community. This country has for too long undereducated. These attacks on education and on the overall information of children receive. Is a direct attack on the future. We can't go backwards and we have seen what nationalism has done. The problem is education is supposed to make us uncomfortable. To learn is to grow if we can't do that this will end badly. I support critical thinking and I think we can't lose that .If racism, antisemitism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia is in our school's they will not be safe. This is the death of human beings trying to work together for a better world. I can only say this is a crisis and we need to fight against it.

We no longer know what we need so no point in spending more money. As a teacher, I wish these parents could run our schools! They have common sense and they will do whats best for kids! When we start doing whats actually best for kids again, this job will become more tolerable for teachers.

To play devils advocate, common sense isn't that common, and the entire phrase of "common sense" can be argued to be problematic if that "commonality" is severely lacking in critical and alltruistic thought. Implying that the common person, depending on the demographic, is not well equipped to run an entire education system, and especially not a local one unless as previously said, it is done so in a n altruistic manner.

It is a self evident fact that all people are NOT created equal. Gender, cultural background and genetic heritage factually do confer advantages and disadvantages, and to pretend or insist otherwise is asinine. Enforced equality of results regardless of individual merit is a suicidal policy for any civilization. Yes, there are exceptions to stereotypes, but they are not imaginary ideas, they are aggreates based upon real life observation. If you don't like being lumped into a negative stereotype, it is up to YOU to confront those of your group that are giving your group a bad name by being living breathing examples of the negative stereotype.
