This only happens in the western world. You go to Asian or African countries and this thing is almost non existent. Yes there are poverty and populations issues but their culture has remained the same for a very long time. We are the ones trying to make a desicion by saying “we are still oppressed we need change”. This country has more free will and recourses than other countries. Yes sometimes they censor those information but the internet is a vast library and if we do enough digging we reach the truth. The culture we invented here in America is brand new and it isnt perfect right away. Our culture is changing every single day while others countries have maintained a culture that works for everyone in that country. I think we need to take some notes from other countries for once and see how they manage their society

I don't get it about education in America. Isn't education must teach everything, especially in history subject, the good, the bad and the ugly? In Indonesia, history lesson in our school not only teach how our founding fathers built our country, but also how some of them turn became bad person. we also learn the bad tragedy that happens in our country, like 30 September tragedy and 1998 tragedy. In doing so, we learn loving our country even more and try to be better so that bad tragedy will not happen again.

Why does it have to be a one sided thing? I can both love and criticize the country I live in equally. I shouldn't inherently hate the place I live because of the decisions the Government has made. I think the issue with alot of this is that we as a people have forgotten how to listen, we're at the point where all we can do is talk and talk and not even consider what the person your arguing with is saying. You cant just pick a side and say this one is completely right 100% because its impossible for anybody to be 100% correct especially in america where we have all sorts of cultures and people. The idea of america is to be a coming together of all ideas and all perspectives, and that cant happen if you wont atleast take the time to listen and study the other side. We do not win this "civil war" in victory, we win it in compromise. and through each little compromise we will grow closer to true equality.

I'm not too old but when I was in school, we just learnt facts and there were only some teachers who gave us the tools to think and elaborate. Most teachers were just frustrated-almost-someone who resorted to teaching . In their defense, with the pay they get and the will to learn of the pupils, they do the most they can. But anyway, maybe I didn't explain myself correctly, I suggest you look up the Latin root of the word indoctrinate you'll get what I wanted to say :) I found out that in English the verb indoctrinate has a very different meaning from the Italian verb indottrinare! where do you think negative aspects of U.S. history aren't being taught in schools? I may have misunderstood you but today the only thing missing from US history classes is the positive aspects. Most students learn about Slavery and the Jim Crow era 3 - 4 times during their public schooling As in 3 - 4 complete units with months of instruction.

These parents are absolutely correct. There are racist people at this school clearly. They deserve consequences, not a lecture, not a lesson, a stern consequence. If they won't stop, they deserve to be expelled. These kids already know it's wrong to be racist and say racist things to others. But that parent who said teachers can't give consequences nowadays is absolutely correct. Teachers no longer have the authority to give consequences. Students run the show and they know it.

That is one of my largest problems with teaching about racism is there is very much a clear hierarchy. Like only people of colour’s only matter until something involves a Black person. Remember StopAsianHate? That disappeared fast after several videos appeared of mostly young Black people attacking elderly Asian people.

Alvin Lui is completely correct in his stance: why hate where you live? The US is certainly not perfect: we have high crime, poverty, hatred, prejudice, and other wrongs. But it is still one of the best places on earth to live. We have freedoms that people in many other countries can only dream of.

When I was a kid, we just stood up for the national anthem and never thought why we were even doing it, and teenagers today know more about politics/history and how it affects their lives than my generation did. I remember back when Bush was in office Americans were hesitant on criticizing the U.S. publicly, now the majority of stances on social issues is in favor of progressives. You couldn't even criticize Capitalism before, now people aren't afraid to openly admit how much Capitalism has failed.

Education indoctrination has always been there, CRT is not likely to be in any elementary school. It is a very high probability that there are zero people in the school system, or the advocacy group, who even know what CRT is.

One thing some nationalists seem to use is an (ironic) "black or white", binary argument. Either you "love" the country or are "against" it. I'm British and don't "love" the UK. I like parts of it and I'll happily cheer my country's team on in sporting events, but I don't "love" it. Perhaps in the UK, we are more likely to complain and joke about how bad certain aspects are? The only other time I've encountered such a polar, absolutist view of a country was with Japanese nationalists. In Japanese schools, children are taught to "love" their country and their culture, which as a British person, found odd.

What's taught outside of that that people wrongfully refer to as CRT is just history. There is a super simple answer here… Just don’t send your kids there! I have five kids, my oldest is 24 and exactly 19 years ago I refused to send her to public school… Same with the rest of my kids. Truly so telling of the lack of education and awareness in this community. This country has for too long undereducated. These attacks on education and on the overall information of children receive. Is a direct attack on the future. We can't go backwards and we have seen what nationalism has done. The problem is education is supposed to make us uncomfortable. To learn is to grow if we can't do that this will end badly. I support critical thinking and I think we can't lose that .If racism, antisemitism, homophobia, biphobia,transphobia is in our school's they will not be safe. This is the death of human beings trying to work together for a better world. I can only say this is a crisis and we need to fight against it.

These kids are being taught about all of American history. The left's problem is that they want the white kids to feel guilty about it. They can proceed directly to the woodchipper.

And yes-schools are spending money on all the wrong things! We don't need more ipads, more special programs, we need to REFOCUS on the fact that we are a SCHOOL. We no longer know what we need so no point in spending more money. As a teacher, I wish these parents could run our schools! They have common sense and they will do whats best for kids! When we start doing whats actually best for kids again, this job will become more tolerable for teachers.

To play devils advocate, common sense isn't that common, and the entire phrase of "common sense" can be argued to be problematic if that "commonality" is severely lacking in critical and alltruistic thought. Implying that the common person, depending on the demographic, is not well equipped to run an entire education system, and especially not a local one unless as previously said, it is done so in a n altruistic manner.

It is a self evident fact that all people are NOT created equal. Gender, cultural background and genetic heritage factually do confer advantages and disadvantages, and to pretend or insist otherwise is asinine. Enforced equality of results regardless of individual merit is a suicidal policy for any civilization. Yes, there are exceptions to stereotypes, but they are not imaginary ideas, they are aggreates based upon real life observation. If you don't like being lumped into a negative stereotype, it is up to YOU to confront those of your group that are giving your group a bad name by being living breathing examples of the negative stereotype.
