In spired by Lisa as I watched her love for bettas and knowledge of what fish get along with them. Tank is thriving and truly enjoying it. Thank you Lisa 😊

Another great thing to use to anchor these plants to your wood are the small black zip ties, easy peasy and they do not rot like thread or twine. Snip close to the wood and you can't even see them.

There are nothing better than getting up with a good cup of coffee and walk outside your garden with a inground goldfish pond and watching them come out asking to be fed. .water lilies keep the water cooler on hot sunny days along with palm trees. Who said that you can't keep tropical fishes with goldfish? I even have clown loaches with than. See the whole school at feeding time.

I had a 55-gallon with 7 goldies and Amazon swords and they left them alone. I am in the process of moving them to a 75 with 4 of them over and adding them as the cycle can handle new members. When there was a nitrite spike I cut back on food and the swords became very appealing to them. They also have went hard for moss tucked in some driftwood and the hanging roots of some large water lettuce the fish store said was grown in an outdoor pond explaining the size.

I absolutely have java fern in with my fancy goldfish. I also have anubis plants with them as well. I only had one fantail eat the brand new leaves off the anubis plants. For a bit there I was wondering why they where not growing at all but I happened to witness the goldfish eat it right down to where the leaves started. That goldfish got a new tank with plastic plants.

I totally agree goldfish and plants actually go hand and hand together, just got to know how to root them using rocks or holders like you guys have shown in the past, I personal favourite is several along the tank edge and in the HOB, I know it’s not the Anubis you shown and have done that in another tank. Love this video and way to be John thinking ahead to be apart of a video! Goldfish also just happen to be also excellent of taking care of duck foot if it’s ever a problem! Love you guys and hope you both stay happy and healthy my friends! 😊❤

You need plants if you want to keep nitrates down without doing constant water changes. I have swords, moss in cages to prevent eating, water lettuce, pothos clippings and other small floating plants that occasionally get eaten but help while they are there. I only have to do water changes about once a month other than evaporation and replacing water taken for house plants.

I have a fully planted 40gb with two full grown fantails in it. They grew up in a planted tank and they leave everything alone but the frogbit. I replace the frogbit often because the vegetation is great for their digestive system, so it’s great for them to eat. I would get duckweed but I don’t know if I want to go that route 😂

Anubius and Java Fern both work great with my goldfish. The goldfish pretty much leave them alone. Anacharis is another great choice, but for the opposite reason. Anacharis is basically like candy to goldfish. It grows super fast, but the fish love to eat it. That's definitely a good thing, as long as you understand that from the start. It's basically a "side salad" for their fish food. Get enough Anacharis in there though, and it can be somewhat sustainable, countering their munchies. The combo of slow growers like Anubias and Java Fern, works really well with the fast growing Anacharis. Hornwort is another good choice. It's a fast grower like Anacharis, so has similar water parameter benefits, but the goldfish tend to leave it alone for the most part. I pretty much keep all four of these in my goldfish tank.

Yup its working, i used a plant in my gold fish aquarium, and surprisingly discus and goldfish in the same planted tank working I'm setting up the heater at 30-31 degree Celcius (i check with probe thermometer it hold beetween 28-29 degree celcius), use mini sump filter on top of the tank (to make sure no free amonia, cause nitrate better than amoni), and doing water change 2 times a day at 40% (the water change automated at 6:00 and 18:00), im on 6 months, and this afternoon just check the water parameters all good, hopefully this setup can run forever 😊

I cant comment about success with goldfish, but other goid options worth a try might be bucephalandra, which attaches much better than anubias in my experience, and has a similar texture so I can't imagine it being too appetising, and bolbitis, with these and your suggestions of anubias and jave fern you could get a great contrast of visual texture going in the tanks, and all can be attached in the same way. Any sturdy epiphyte plant is worth a try, in fact any sturdy plant is probably worth trying. You could also opt for certain house plants that can be grown out of the top of the tank, but research is higly reccomended on that option!

I must protest MOST vigorously! my husband “ gave “ me 5 large (5-5” ) goldfish- who I temporarily ( while building fish pond outside )…put in a 60 gallon heavily planted tank … they have DECIMATED all the plants… they eat floating plants, roots of plants that only have roots in water ( edge plants), rooted plants in their entirety… I predict that when lisa’s goldies get a little bigger… there with be a plant devastation …. I don’t mean to rain on her parade … but my own experience has been DEVASTATING in the plant/ goldfish mix . Devastating for the plants ( and me - because the plants were my best filter - now constantly changing water, cleaning mechanical filters…

Can't go wrong with java fern - I tie them with silicone rubber bands to stones then pop the stones in terracotta pots. My java ferns are HUGE (java bushes? Lol) and I'm always having to rip parts out and throw them away so the goldfish have room to swim. The ferns would easily take up the whole tanks like a jungle otherwise - and they're big tanks 😮 Also the stones and pots provide extra biological filtration. Which is good because I don't have substrate because goldfish 😅
