I saw them in '64, '65 and'66. Couldn't hear them!!! Saw Paul years later solo and he was amazing and able to play songs they couldn't play as The Beatles because they didn't have the technology in the '60's. My friend was getting impatient for Paul's show to start and the minute he came on stage she started to cry. I guess it brought back 40 year old memories. There were people my age who grew up with them, their kids and their grandkids and they ALL were singing along with every song.

This was a live TV performance on the David Frost Show , complete with orchestra . The crowd was made of the studio audience .
@markamos1911
@markamos1911 Жыл бұрын
Afraid that's not the case. It was a video shoot on 4 September 1968 at Twickenham Film Studios, with only the vocals being live. The "audience" was made up of members of the local Beatles Fan Club, people pulled in off the streets around the studio, along with a few friends and some hired extras to ensure the audience was diverse. The Beatles "performed" it three times, and several different edits were made (their is an Ed Sullivan Show version, for instance). The David Frost edit is the most commonly seen, and is an edit of the 2nd and 3rd performance. They had already agreed to give the clip to The David Frost Show, to be premiered on 8 September, and Frost came into Twickenham on the 4th to record an introduction that would create the impression they were appearing live on the 8 September show. The Revolution video clips were also filmed the same day, again live vocals over a pre-recorded backing track. Both were filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, and led to the ill-fated "Get Back/Let It Be" project in January 1969 at the same studio, and with the same director.

This is one of those songs that time warps me back to when I was around 10 yrs old. My mom played The Beatles a lot. Paul McCartney has a great voice and is so talented, he's also out there still putting on concerts. His band after The Beatles was Wings and they also put out a lot of great songs. I recommend Mull of Kintyre, which is about the place he was living in Scotland at the time he wrote it. It's beautiful. I'm enjoying your channel. This is what paying rapt attention looks like, JM. You knew something was coming at the end when the song’s pace and volume increased as all those people came on stage, but you didn’t have any idea THAT was coming! It was awesome. As I said yesterday ,on your Revolution reaction, I had the 45. I used to say they were today;s equivalent of ‘singles’ but I don’t think they are a thing anymore either). I probanly paid $1 or less for it with Revolution on the “B” side and Hey Jude as the “A” side. What times we grew up in! I am glad you have joined the party, JM. Thank you.

You should hear PAUL sing "OH DARLING" and "HELTER SKELTER" and then listen to "HERE THERE and EVERYWHERE" plus "AND I LOVE HER" to hear what is voice is CAPABLE of. Then in his solo works or with WIngs listen to "MAYBE I'M AMAZED" (the live 1976 concert version with Wings) and "BAND ON THE RUN" from the same concert. "MONKBERRY MOON DELIGHT" from his "RAM" solo album.

Ringo's drumming, as he introduces himself is just perfect. It draws you into the song full tilt. I always anticipate his little intro riff when I play this song. Jude was the nickname for John's son Julien. What is wild is that Julien sounds very much like his father. Love this tune & love Paul's voice on it. Non singers even like getting on all the na na na's. LOL Paul is still performing & is still amazing. When the Beatles broke up, Paul performed with his new band 'Wings'. For something different, check out Paul McCartney's carpool karaoke appearance on James Cordon. It is on KZbin & they are in Liverpool where the Beatles began & they go around town & stop at the house Paul grew up in, etc. Super cool show & Paul performs at the end.

Awesome event... but note entirely performed live, by a long shot. The vocals, piano, and maybe the odd tambourine were evidently live, but the backing track was from the studio recording, down to the uncharacteristically muddy drum sound, which was owing to a technical glitch caused by alignment differences in the tape machines used for recording and mixing in different studios. Use of prerecorded backing tracks was often done back then to ensure precise running time on air.

The album version is even better than this live version. The reason is Paul McCartney, the lead singer, does some amazing vocal improvisations and screams on the record that you don't hear in this version. In my opinion, the best part of the song are missing in this version. I wish you would also do a reaction to the recorded version, as well. Or at least listen to it on your own time and let me know what you think. You should react to LET IT BE if you think this song sounds angelic. None of their songs sound as angelic as LET IT BE. Second place would be their song: The Long And Winding Road.

Then, if you have not already, try Diana Ankudinova singing 'Rechenka' ( is in Russian but do not need lyrics to experience the emotions portrayed ), then 'Wicked Game' and 'Can't help falling in love with you' also by Diana ( These 2 are in English ). ( i recommend, for yourself, to watch 'Can't help falling in love with you' to the end to get the judges comments -- are in Russian with English subtitles -- use the video from Diana's youtube channel to access these judges comments. )
