They Tried to Cancel Me (Don’t Stop Me Now Podcast)

During June, I went through some really exhausting and unfortunate cyberbullying by HIV+ advocates. I wasn't ready to share my side until now. Cancel culture is unfair in general and thankfully it actually never came to fruition in my case. This podcast will help you understand my side of what went down. It was ugly. Definitely gave me a lot of clarity about who I need on my side and who doesn't matter at all. My HIV work/advocacy will probably never come to an end as long as I'm around. Love you guys. 🧡

Not only did (the name that rhymes with Laif)do a video mischaracterizing your ACTUAL stance of, “Females hardly transmit”(even though he stupidly used your video with the words ‘virtually impossible’ right on the screen), he later went on to quote male to female transmissions(which were higher than female to males)then applied your words of “virtually impossible”(that was stated regarding female to male)---TO SAY the higher male TO female stats hardly proved to be "virtually impossible". If THAT wasn’t SNAKE enough, the advocates decided to bring on people BORN with HIV as a debunk to you speaking on SEXUAL transmission rates. They REFUSED to compare apples to apples, were being underhanded-using tricky language, was unable to attack then disprove your ACTUAL talking point, BUT stating you’re dangerous and spreading misinformation-so needed to be stopped. Lastly, they did a mad dash to find heterosexual men who were infected by women. They’re still on that fishing expedition. 😅

I can't recall when I watched the Freddie Mercury movie and then your channel showed up in my feed, but its been several yrs back. I've said before I was so ignorant regarding HIV, your videos totally changed that. I'm saying this to try and iterate how important your advocacy has been, and I'm saying this as a long-time married heterosexual female who is not HIV+. I can't even imagine how your advocacy has helped women who are HIV+! I also can't imagine how it felt for you..newly diagnosed..out of left field..and NO other females to turn to for support, I.cannot.imagine. FF 8 yrs..and let's say there's a female who's newly diagnosed, feeling alone, and BOOM! She finds you. That's very profound to me. The truth is that bisexuality is underreported. From some males, all that it takes is some alcohol to see their bros as more than bros. Its just 5 minutes of experimenting something new, who will know?. In some cases, that little experimentation ends there. In some other cases it leads to Grindr and other dating apps.

If I were rich, I would propose the idea of a college campus tour where you demonstrate how to take the HIV saliva test. It would be a part of student health that I would ask all new students to attend and anyone else who wants to participate. I think there is a market for part of college orientation for a video on STD and health. If you can make money from that idea have at it.

I'm watching a lot of your video , i was diagnosed with hiv 2 weeks ago and I'm so terrified because I'm from Yemen where being gay is a death sentence 💔, my CD4 count was 231 when I tested which is in the middle of what the general guides say if I'm below 200 it's aids and above 250 it's 2nd stage and i don't know what 231 means honestly

You really only discuss transmission sexually. There are other ways its transmitted. Why dont you address that?

Because the only other route of transmission is sharing needles for drugs. HIV isn’t transmitted through blood donations anymore or mother to child or through breastfeeding bc of precautions that were put in place for donating blood in the 80s and women give birth and breastfeed today with zero issues bc of the medication available. There are no other ways.

Thank you Leigh, your bravery in speaking out for women is why I follow you. I’m sorry you have to deal with this backlash on your own. I have a Masters in medical microbiology and everything you say is factual. The biological plausibility of a woman giving a heterosexual man HIV is so very slim that it is statistically irrelevant. This is why public health campaigns target Men who have sex with men and the women who sleep with them. We have long stopped speaking about gay men (because so many men who engage in routine homosexual activities claim heterosexuality). The other thing is Lesbian women have the lowest rates of HIV of any demographic so it’s not a hatred of LGBT it’s these men’s callous attitude and disregard for their own health and women’s health that’s upsetting.

Whether it's disregard for another male's health, or disregard for a female's health. Both* are equally bad. Everything she said regarding MSM having it more likely is 100% true. But disregarding a women's health is no worse than disregarding another man's. Both are equally bad.

Secondly, men consented to have the relations they did knowing the risk. Women didn't. Women consented to a monogamous relationship with a heterosexual man. Lastly, the notion that women easily transmit the virus hasn't been fair to women. Nothing about the indifference, pre and after a woman's diagnosis, has been "equal".

@@ShammyD that's not what I meant. And I do agree women don't have the supports or resources etc they deserve. And sadly get left out of the conversation when it comes to this. All I meant, is that from a human standpoint, it's equally sad/ hurtful to the person who aquires it via a partner who doesn't disclose to them or cheats on them. Etc. That is harmful and hurtful regardless of gender. And it's true. It's best if bisexual men disclose this, their sexual history or at least orientation, to the woman partner. Or IV use history. I'm not arguing that. They should disclose and it'd given them a fair chance at deciding on extra protection.

I mean, I think we can have a concensus that as long as the bisexual male partner discloses sexual history with men or I.V. use, then it is a lot better than not disclosing. And then it's up to the woman if they want to or not. Just about honesty so they can make an informed decision. Doesn't mean MSM shouldn't ever have sex with women. But should disclose this to them.
