Thanks for watching! The Giants were once irrelevant, missing the playoffs. But they have since then turned into a contender, within one free agency.

I love your channel but this video is a miss and kinda misleading. Posey's comments were blown way out of proportion and were later clarified. He was talking about the perception of San Francisco, not the reality. Posey himself actually moved BACK to San Francisco with his family after retiring to Georgia. Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Kansas City, Atlanta, and several other MLB cities have much higher crimes rates than San Francisco. The notion that guys don't want to play in SF because of the "high crime" or "safety" is laughable. The Golden State Warriors play right down the street from the Giants and they have zero problem signing mega-stars.

This whole San Francisco having a bad reception thing is just a dumb excuse by the ownership and front office. The Warriors have had no issue having success and bringing in star talent, neither have the 49ers. What matters most is having an attractive product on the field, and the Warriors have that, the 49ers have that, but the Giants don’t, and haven’t for a long time.
@Scotter4536

It's not really an excuse that they made up. A lot of people have a bad perception of the city due to sensationalized headlines. That and opposing teams stay at hotels in the tenderloin when playing at Oracle Park, so they get to see the literal worst part of the city. As for the Niners, they don't play anywhere near the peninsula and the Warriors haven't had a big free agent in how long? I don't think it's a deserved reputation. I mean, look at LA. They have just as many problems with crime and homelessness. SF just gets highlighted by conservatives cause it's considered one of the most liberal cities in the country. They love to see it fail. And the Warriors do not have an attractive product this season.

@@Scotter4536 agreed: if conservatives made fun of LA more than they made fun of San Francisco, who even knows of major players sign there? Chicago's known for being crimes galore (& liberals galore), but it gets no talk anymore. Same with Oakland, but no talk there among conservatives either. And, like you said, I think conservatives just want to see San Francisco (& California writ large) crash & burn. Terrible idea both ethically & politically, but I guess it's the game they want to play. Fortunately, it doesn't do them any good when they do that.

I mean, they haven’t been able to sign superstars in the last few years, and many attribute it to the city itself. In 2023 they could’ve had arson judge and they could’ve had Carlos Correa. Instead…” So, what all of sudden during your sentence you just decided to switch the subject from supposed “crime rates scaring free agents” to “all the free agents sf could’ve had, but didn’t for reasons other than crime?” Without even proving your point about crime rates? I like the breakdown, but I would argue they’ve never been big into FA signings. Their WS runs were built off their farm system. Posey, Timmy, MadBum, Panda, Belt, Crawford, Panik, and Cain were home grown prospects. The outside help all came from trades, Pence, Pagan, Freddy Sanchez, Lopez. The FA help were bargain bin standouts, Vogelsong, and Affeldt, or huge busts, Zito (statistical bust, but 2012 was magical), and Aaron Rowan. The issue with recent FA failures is the front office giving us so much hope on Judge, Harper, Yamamoto, Shoei, and Correa (although I give a pass here due to 2 failed physicals). I’m glad they were able to get Soler, and Chapman this spring, and I would say this was a very good offseason. I am hopeful for the season!

Giants fan here. This is maximum cope. The lineup scares no one. SP are all questions marks aside from Webb. We just watch the dodgers front office make Farquad look like an idiot. Oh and they keep saying they want to spend, but no one buys it. Soler will have a drop off because of the park, Chapman is Longoria 2.0, except at least we can dump him when he bats mendoza line, or he will bolt for a real team when he has a career season like Gausmann. It's obvious they are taking short term projects to pocket money over trying to bring in talent to build around. Granted hopefully the young guns can develop and create a new 2010's center, but last year wasn't as promising as we hoped. this will be a mid year battling for 3rd in the division. And expect more "smoke" of going after Soto and all the big free agents as usual. Do not support them until they actually want to field a competent team, and not a band of broken toys and projects. It isn't acceptable that fans have to hope for flukes like Panda.... Panda to help the team. Rediculous.

Judge and Correa, were more so used to highlight the talent they almost had playing for them. That bit specifically wasn’t really to highlight two guys who didn’t wanna go to San Francisco. It was more so saying, these two players were almost in Giant uniforms, but it didn’t happen, and the Giants went on to be mid. My opinion on the city whether I think its amazing, or terrible, truly dosen’t matter in this type of content. I try to be as non bias as possible (when discussing matters like that). @@1TightMinute the statement I’m proving is the first sentence (there’s no overarching point about OPS+ being a bad stat or Chapman being a bad hitter)… I’m pointing out that OPS+ doesn’t tell the full story and context is needed to truly analyze a player With Chapman, OPS+ tells us that he’s an above average hitter overall but his monthly splits shows that he’s an incredibly inconsistent hitter (or at least has been for that past 3 seasons) who’s more than capable of playing at an MVP level for stretches but also has months where he hits below the Mendoza line… What sounds like a better Chapman analysis? And pitchers should be looked at the same way… I’m not just looking at the bad since I’m not making a point on the player or criticizing the stat; I’m providing context since it gives us a better view on the player And while I don’t hold the opinion since I wanted the Jays to resign Chapman, Ive talked to a ton of Jays fans who thought he was a liability at the plate which stems from his inconsistency… He was solidified in the 4 or 5 spot but was awful in that spot for more than half the year… OPS+ alone doesn’t account for that

I hate that the Giants situation is political but thats how it is. You get a bunch of Progessives who defund the police, refuse to prosecute hard criminals and have drug addicts messing on the sidewalks, cars broken into in broad daylight, homeless drug addicts encampments block after block and sooner or later you'll see everything descent go away. The very reason the A’s are leaving, I’m sure Fisher is a conservative minded person who feels that place failing. Business after business has left the Bay Area. Now players don’t want to bring their families there. And who can blame them? If people don’t feel safe they WILL go somewhere else. It’s frustrating to me to see people make the same dumb choices over and over again and then act surprised when there’s consequences.

I’m a Bay Area native and still live in the area. Sadly, you are 100% correct. Idiot leftists have ruined SF, Oakland, and San Jose. It also hurts that Farhan is a woke moron with the personality of a spider.

I think that they don’t believe in the police, especially because they haven’t had a great track record doing their job. The legalisation of drugs is crazy though, I think that drug user rehabilitation would make more sense to make a city better rather than a ridiculously strong police force(or a weak police force too), but I don’t think that would be great in the eyes of some other people.

Is that why there are several conservative cities(and I mean 20+) in front of San Francisco in terms of crime? Idk maybe a St. Louis? Oh not forgetting the crime ridden states of Mississippi and Alabama, all shit hole states with crime levels that San Francisco wouldn’t even touch lol yall are living in a different reality. It’s odd how San Francisco, a “crime ridden city” routinely ranks behind crime ridden southern states and cities lol

All you people that are saying that San Fran has a low crime rate. When you decriminalize drug use and petty theft then crime will go down. The numbers will at least. It’s not that those crimes aren’t still happening, it’s just they aren’t considered worth prosecuting. Comparing your “numbers” to a place that still enforces the law is kind of silly. Prop 47 basically made shoplifting “legal” and now cops are not allowed to interact with drug user even if they are doing it in public. The city has a bad rep with players because the players that play there are telling them what it is like.

What makes anybody think that Blake Smell will want to join the Giants as long as the LA Dollars have more than enough money to offer him much more than the Giants can?? It is good to be optimistic, but anybody who thinks the Giants will do better than 40+ games behind the LA Dollars is delusional. This whole video is BS! Giants will be very lucky to win even 1 game against the Dollars.

I'll take you up on that bet! The Giants were absolutely miserable last year but ya know what? Even at their worst, they were still capable of SWEEPING the Dodgers in a series. In Los Angeles too. Oh and even beat them 15-0 in one game handing the Dodgers their worst shutout @ss-kicking in their entire history LMAO.

The quote perception is reality is really ironic. It doesnt discuss why this perception exsists. Is it because sf deserves it? Or is it due to media portrayals.

I can tell you this from my own experience....i was in San Francisco for 4 days in December and honestly it may be the most beautiful city I have ever been to. Checked out the sunset district, the marina district, and a few other spots I can't remember the names. The weather was fantastic for the middle of December (jeans and t-shirt) and everyone seemed happy there. People were super friendly too. There were SO many people out jogging right along the extremely scenic bay it almost made me wish I could afford to live there. And I honest to god did not see one homeless or crazy druggy or whatever everyone says that city is covered in. Obviously they exist but I didn't go to the bad parts of SF. Anyway, just goes to show you cannot believe everything you hear or see on television/KZbin. I was truly shocked at how nice that city is and the vibe I got and how much I enjoyed my time there. Oh, and I'm pretty hardcore conservative too for what it's worth.

How can the Giants be irrelevant when the Giants have BOTH the most wins and most Hall Of Famers of any MLB franchise EVER ??? I also wanna point out that the notion that Shohei Ohtani is the best player in baseball is beyond absurd.
