I was kind of surprised there wasn't an immediately-obvious option to escort them out of the shadowlands, *then* take the lantern. Something to the effect of "You've been doing a good job carrying the light, but your goddess sent us to kill the curse permanently and we need your lantern to do it."

I really dont understand why Drow follow Lolth since she is really fickle, I think in some cases you dont even have to fail its just if she is in the mood for entertainment, and watching you suffer is that entertainment. She is shown to backstab her own followers, and pit the extremely loyal ones to her against each other. Where they kill each other and are in an almost constant state of civil wars between different houses.

Great episode guys ! I definitely get what you were saying about the comments Odd, and I've found that this is basically the rule anywhere on the Internet. Those who have thought the least about what they want to say are usually the ones who write the quickest and yell the loudest ! Most often I just ignore them for the sake of my own sanity

Boy you're soooo right. I'd say it's like 50/50 on whether or not a youtube suggestion is correct. For example a bunch of people suggested we could have used Daylight spell or some other light spell in the fight against Thaniel to protect from the higher level shadow curse. I tried and nope. Doesn't work.

@@LucklessLovelocks That's how magical darkness and light are supposed to work as well...or at least it used to. Parties would routinely travel in a large dome of darkness to hide their positions from enemies while having a smaller circle of magical light inside that darkness. Which ever was cast last took precedence in the center. I'm guessing 5e and/or PC adaptations have made that tactic unusable. This is 'possibly' why people were giving those suggestions.

3:20 Yes. You can put items on traps to disable them. Sometimes. For example, you can put a box on top of a gas vent to stop the gas coming in. But if you think it's a good idea to drop an object onto a landmine.... iunno what to tell ya.

That's what some comments said. Didn't make sense to me either which is why I tried. I knew from EA and DoS that you could do that with vents. We even did it in this playthrough.

you can place barrels on gas trap vents so that in the event of triggering the trap the gas doesn't escape. Maybe try triggering explosive traps by throwing barrels on them as I haven't seen how to disarm those.

Yes on Vet type traps you can place objects, like barrel or corpses to block them, but it works differently for explosive type traps :)

I think throwing is what Luckless tried. Throwing deals damage. You place an object on a trap you dont throw it at a trap. You can move objects by clicking and dragging.

Obviously with the vents just cover them up if you can to be safe. As Chris said in the vid he's been getting some bad advice from the comments...maybe I'm doing it! 😅

Well he tried it on an explosive trap regardless. I've tried throwing corpses at vent traps, it works excellent. as long as you manage to hit the vent under all the gas etc :)

You really did it on your own way about the getting the lantern guys. However I would recommend not the skip mountain pass before go deeper in the story. I guess you are in enough level to deal with that. Otherwise it will be too easy.

The objective benefit (discarding any moral complications) is that you dont have to equip the lantern as a gearslot and still get basically the same effect for the purpose of traversing the deep shadowcursed lands. But how could you know? It be rough out there in the shadowlands, cant leave things to chance. Plus the anti druid druid meme is just too funny to not see come up time and again lol

Bow attacks scale with Dex, while throws scale with Strength. Pretty sure throws will always be better than bow shots. Especially if you're using a throwing weapon like axe / spear / javelin. I generally keep a whole bunch of those on my str characters and then throws are really really good. They also get bonus damage based on the height you threw from

You can place large items (crates, leather armors, even Auntie's masks work, weirdly) on VENT traps specifically to shut them off - not regular traps.

I’m curious what Luckless tried to do, if he threw an object or placed an object, big difference, for traps. You place an object on a trap by dropping said object, and clicking and dragging. I dunno if this still applies to proximity traps like mines, but it works on vents.

Just FYI, Odd, rolling 2 dice when you have disadvantage isn't a bug. When you have advantage, as I'm sure you've noticed a few times now, you roll 2 dice, and take the higher number. When you roll disadvantage, its the opposite; you roll 2 dice and then take the lower number. Since using cat's grace on that roll, which you already had disadvantage on, gives you advantage, it would've just turned it into a normal straight roll with 1 dice. I hope that clears that up. :) Also, the reason you're rolling disadvantage on stealth checks with Dark Urge is because you're not proficient in medium armor, which is what your scale mail is.

14:56 disadvantage: when a character has disadvantage either by circumstance, condition or an item that gives disadvantage on any particular check or saving throw. The character rolls twice and must use the lowest roll. If you gain advantage through magical spells or equipment that gives advantage then the disadvantage cancels out and it’s just a straight roll. So no it’s not a bug

You can put things on _some_ traps. Specifically with traps that have "vents." But you should have plenty of disarm kits so have your sneaky character disarm them.

If I remember correctly, you guys have been using the storage boxes to hold your camp supplies - the notification about not having enough only counts what's in your party's inventories and not what you have in storage. You should still be able to select the food from the box when you actually long rest and ignore the warning!

Some tips: - Try to look for ritual spells (permanent buffs) especially with Shadowheart - Holding the shift key lets you select multiple items in the inventory - You guys skipped almost the entire underdark which is huge, this makes you a little under leveled (maybe on the next playthrough)

I thought ritual spells meant that you could cast them without using a slot. The idea is that you take longer to cast it so you can't cast them in battle. I'm not really sure what you mean by we skipped theUnderdark. We explored all of it including the Grymforge. Do you mean by failing to save Isobel we have less to do in this area (the Shadowlands)?

So the ritual spells Shadowheart has are pretty useless TBH. There's disguise self, silence, speak with the dead. Looks like the Druid's have long strider though which is pretty useful.

If you ever run a storm sorcerer they get a bonus action 30ft fly when they cast a non-cantrip spell. Now, with ritual spells not costing a slot, you get unlimited 30ft fly outside of combat and that is just handy. 😄
