I've had 3 sets of locs in my lifetime. I had to learn from the first set to the current. I don't judge but I will never do skinny locs again...EVER! I ended up combining and went from 188 locs to currently 28 thick locs! I semi-freeform and I love the volume of the new growth, not having to feel as though I need to keep them manicured/neat all the time, no product with twist and build-up issues, and the care-free routine of wash and GO! Big ups to your page bro!

I chose thicker locs, when I started my loc journey, almost a year ago now, based on the different textures my hair has - I thought having thicker locs would give it a fuller look. I don't have fine hair, but it's not the thickest ( so maybe not cheese grits and chicken, but more like baked chicken and a side salad, maybe? 😂😂😂) anyway, I like how they are forming, for the most part, but I don't regret the size I chose. I just hope I can achieve the chunky loc look I am after. Great video!

Usually avoid many retwist, and Avoid hairstyles that can weaken your roots (Updo, Bun, Slick back low ponytail) and styles that do it like (Two strand , Barrel twist) you can still get all those just limit how often you get them and don’t constantly twist your hair throughout the day that leads to roots weakening due to them getting thinned out.
@bapbap2562

I got thicker locs. Only 50 on my head. I agree when they are shorter, they can look a bit scalpy, but the payoff once they hit bra strap length or longer, whew! They just look so stunning in my opinion. Sort of like when you get box braids. Just very flattering. But when they're short.... it's rough lol. Especially when you're just starting out and they're too short and thick to style and hide the starter loc frizz (which is easier for thin locs).

@@maiyaaustin9406 so glad I was able to help! I’m just past the 2 year mark of having thick locs and I have no regrets! I started them when I was basically bald (1-2 inches of hair) and now they are just past my shoulders. I love them so much. I’m able to put them in some cute and flirty style and honestly they just suit my personality and personal style so well. Don’t give up! It was so tough in the beginning, but they definitely thickened out by month 8 and have gotten even thicker ever since. Stay strong!

I just ate some cheese grits for breakfast before watching!!🤣 Thin locs will now and forever more be called "salad and croutons locs"!🤣 Which are beautiful, so no shade as you indicated! My 1st journey started with 175 locs. By year 12 I had combined down to 50. This set I started at 68. Now at 2.5 years in I'm down to...50! Thick locs for me! Though I miss doing some of the styles I could do with smaller locs. But I love the 30 minute maintenance time! Drying? I wash early in the day and use a *microfiber* towel. Not only is it best at absorbing water, it's also lint free. Anyway, another good one fam! On a side note, when did we get to 17k?!!

Man I wanted my job to say something when I started my locs last year! I had some "looks" and "so are you going to let your hair out soon?". Nope. I am in management in healthcare. I have 68 locs because I wanted them on the thick side. Because hair in my crown is thinner, I couldn't get them started as thick as I really wanted because I hate the scalpy look. But if I say so myself, my babies are looking really good now that I am at my year mark as of last week.

I did microlocs cuz I wanted super full locs AND I have the 4c hair thickness and coarseness for thin locs and bc of that I never have to worry bout breakage. 265 locs on coarse, dense, thick 4c hair is a recipe for heaven. Plus I didn’t want to get thick locs and take forever to dry my hair. Esp Since I don’t have a hairdryer. And still perfect for my office job. Perfect. I love them!

@@TPlocks yeah I'm Rockin the hightop look, and all the dreads from mid to front survived and maintained their length, but the ones towards the back are all short now, my friend suggested that i cut all my dreads and start afresh but the thought of cutting breaks my heart, since there are no bald spots, just shorter dreads, I'm going to wait it out and let them regrow they'll be back to their previous form eventually.

I have thin locs now simply my hair held together better with thin locs. When I tried thick locs they would unravel easier. Thin locs locked quicker than when I tried thick locs

Good morning TPLOCS & Happy Easter🙏🏽thank you for another great video. Don’t let your wife hear you saying, you like thicker set women🤣🤣🤣😂I like your locs, I think that’s the medium sized & more what I’m used to seeing. Skinny locs do suit some people, perhaps those with finer/softer hair. If I can get my locs to look something like yours, that will be my prize🙏🏽. I had my first shampoo in 4 months and it wasn’t as traumatic as I was dreading🤣I don’t really have enough sight to see my locs, but my loc tec lives 5 mins away so that’s cool. I’m locked & budding so that’s cool…I couldn’t have got this far without your videos though. Believe it or not since George Floyd & the news surrounding that. Black people in the UK have really stepped up & we are seeing more black people on tv now. We have at least 3 tv broadcaster/journalist. Reading the news etc with locs, can you believe that, I never thought I’d see the day. Growing up, it was mainly Rastas & reggae musicians that you saw with locs and they were usually wild & all over the place. Wishing you & your family well & your subscribers too. ONE💖🙏🏽
