I've had 3 sets of locs in my lifetime. I had to learn from the first set to the current. I don't judge but I will never do skinny locs again...EVER! I ended up combining and went from 188 locs to currently 28 thick locs! I semi-freeform and I love the volume of the new growth, not having to feel as though I need to keep them manicured/neat all the time, no product with twist and build-up issues, and the care-free routine of wash and GO! Big ups to your page bro!

I chose thicker locs, when I started my loc journey, almost a year ago now, based on the different textures my hair has - I thought having thicker locs would give it a fuller look. I don't have fine hair, but it's not the thickest ( so maybe not cheese grits and chicken, but more like baked chicken and a side salad, maybe? 😂😂😂) anyway, I like how they are forming, for the most part, but I don't regret the size I chose. I just hope I can achieve the chunky loc look I am after. Great video!
@buincqv673 жыл бұрын
Usually avoid many retwist, and Avoid hairstyles that can weaken your roots (Updo, Bun, Slick back low ponytail) and styles that do it like (Two strand , Barrel twist) you can still get all those just limit how often you get them and don’t constantly twist your hair throughout the day that leads to roots weakening due to them getting thinned out.
@bapbap25624 жыл бұрын
I got thicker locs. Only 50 on my head. I agree when they are shorter, they can look a bit scalpy, but the payoff once they hit bra strap length or longer, whew! They just look so stunning in my opinion. Sort of like when you get box braids. Just very flattering. But when they're short.... it's rough lol. Especially when you're just starting out and they're too short and thick to style and hide the starter loc frizz (which is easier for thin locs).

@@maiyaaustin9406 so glad I was able to help! I’m just past the 2 year mark of having thick locs and I have no regrets! I started them when I was basically bald (1-2 inches of hair) and now they are just past my shoulders. I love them so much. I’m able to put them in some cute and flirty style and honestly they just suit my personality and personal style so well. Don’t give up! It was so tough in the beginning, but they definitely thickened out by month 8 and have gotten even thicker ever since. Stay strong!

My 1st journey started with 175 locs. By year 12 I had combined down to 50. This set I started at 68. Now at 2.5 years in I'm down to...50! Thick locs for me! Though I miss doing some of the styles I could do with smaller locs. But I love the 30 minute maintenance time! Drying? I wash early in the day and use a *microfiber* towel. Not only is it best at absorbing water, it's also lint free. Anyway, another good one fam! On a side note, when did we get to 17k?!!

I have 68 locs because I wanted them on the thick side. Because hair in my crown is thinner, I couldn't get them started as thick as I really wanted because I hate the scalpy look.
