@@_eclipz_ Probably more accurate to say unknown instead of underrated. I've been playing music for nearly 50 years and have heard almost every Thin Lizzy song, but most people have only heard "Boys are back in Town," and maybe "Jailbreak." They haver so many cool songs.

Songs to check out. Since you don’t like to do well known songs, so much, I will ignore their most famous song (The Boys are Back in Town) and go from there. From their early years, I would suggest The Rocker, Black Boys on the Corner, Little Girl in Bloom, and Whiskey in the Jar. From their middle period, try, Rosalie, Cowboy Song, Romeo and the Lonely Girl, Emerald, Johnny, Don’t Believe a Word and Borderline. From the later years, check out Do anything You Want to, Got to Give it Up, Black Rose, Having a Good Time, Hey You, Angel of Death, Renegade, Hollywood, The Pressure Will Blow and Thunder and Lightning.
@craighenry2351

I will add one more comment. Since you like deep cuts and hidden gems, I would suggest Romeo and the Lonely Girl. It took me several years, but, now, it is my favorite Thin Lizzy song. It seems like a normal song until the solo. Then it kicks up a bit and the best guitar work is on the chorus following the middle solo. It is played under the chorus, so you have to listen for it, but it is well worth it. That is one of the better solos I have heard.

It is interesting you noticed the harmony lead guitars. Thin Lizzy used that more extensively than any hard rock or metal band out there. I always loved that sound, which is why I like Thin Lizzy so much. If you like it, as well, check out The Pressure Will Blow off of their very next album, Renegade.

@craighenry2351

Thin Lizzy have two basics to their sound, Phil Lynott’s unique voice and harmony lead guitar. Other bands in the same time frame used that guitar approach, namely Boston and the Scorpions, but, no one used harmony lead guitar as extensively as Thin Lizzy and, that, I think, is the main reason I love this band. I love harmony leads, and with Thin Lizzy, you will hear that approach constantly, on their final 8 albums. Many bands still use that approach extensively, but no one used it as much and as long as Thin Lizzy did, except, maybe the Scorpions (Another favorite band of mine.).

Thin Lizzy were a great band 👍🏻 Phil Lynott the perfect front man . But he became increasingly difficult to work with and after various band member changes and a very serious drug habit of Phil’s they eventually fell apart . He died young from drug related complications but their music and memory still lives on . There’s a statue of him in Dublin , Ireland where he was from . Waiting for an alibi & Don’t believe a word are brilliant tracks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have a couple of comments about this song and Gary Moore. I saw on one of your “marathons” that included a song from “Vagabonds of the Western World” recently Nick commented about how the guitar playing sounded like Gary Moore. Maybe that’s because it WAS Gary Moore. He filled in for original guitarist Eric Bell after he left the band and recorded I think three or four songs with them. Phil and Gary were friends and he helped out Thin Lizzy on a couple of occasions but it wasn’t always that way. He left the band abruptly in the middle of the Black Rose tour and Midge Ure had to come in with little notice, to finish up. I would think the words “You clown, your thoughtlessness has brought us down” were directed at him, as well as the whole premise behind the song - they’ll be strong without him. Snowy White was a great guitar player but most people in comments I’ve read consider him boring on stage. If I could suggest more songs I would pick “Sitamoia” (about as hard a rock song as you can get - available probably in a compilation album or perhaps individually from iTunes), “Johnny” (a song from the album “Johnny the Fox" with a great story, which showcases Phil’s vocal ability and the song which made me a fan for life) and maybe “Nightlife” from their “Nightlife” album). #nicknlexrequest

This is a foundational band for me. I grew up in the 70’s and Lizzy had a sound that informed many of my future choices, concerning what I grew to love. And, yes, like you hinted at, my tastes evolved, somewhat, to where my favorite musical genre is Prog Metal, but from this band’s musical structure, you can see where going from them to my favorite band, Savatage, is a natural progression. I just wish Phil Lynott was still around. He isn’t my favorite voice, but he is so unique for this band. And he is a pioneer. Hard rock and metal are great genre’s, but they are devoid of that urban voice. Guys like JImi Hendrix and Phil were pioneers for guy’s like Lejean Witherspoon (Sevendust) and Columbus, Ohio’s own Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage). I hope today’s urban youth can look back to guys like Phil and say, hey, this sounds pretty good and I can do that, too!

Perhaps my favorite Thin Lizzy song is "Dedication", released posthumously in 1991 on the compilation album of the same name. "Reconstructed after band leader Phil Lynott's death, using an old 8 track demo recording ... originally recorded around 1985". Just a very powerful song with great hooks. Hard-driving groove, guitar leads that won't quit, soulful vocals. Goosebumps.

"chinatown " (i love it ) is an odd LP . Most Thin Lizzy fans claim their earlier material is better than their later albums (like Chinatown), but I beg to differ. Chinatown is their second best album after Thunder and Lightning (their final album) in my opinion. Thin Lizzy got heavier as their career progressed. Their first five albums are wimpy and awful in my opinion.

Thin Lizzy were never a Metal band. Rock and Hard Rock featuring melodic and harmonic guitar playing. Their last album,Thunder and Lightning (1983) comes pretty close. John Sykes joins longtime stalwart guitarist Scott Gorham. Sykes came from Tygers Of Pan Tang and in 1987 would compose and play all the guitar parts on Whitesnake aka 1987 in the UK. He then went on to form a great trio called Blue Murder with drummer Carmine Appice and Fretless bass extraordinaire Tony Franklin. Incredible debut. Valley Of The Kings is their best song by far.

Hi Ronnie, that's the fun of the channel, listening to everything ... especially if you give your subscribers with BMC the chance, to request anything ... and don't forget, their reactions are "quality" reactions ... I've started in 2019 to watch reaction videos, I've seen thousands, and there were a lot of "bad reactors" :-) ... there are also other channels, which react to everything, but it's just mass production without any real discussion or deeper dive ... and it's always the subscribers decision to watch certain artists or not. I, for example, have placed a handful of requests by now, none of them reached a 1000 clicks. So what, I'm satisfied, when Nicknlex like it and some of the "inner circle", I'm happy, when I've made a handful of people happy ... so listen and enjoy ... or not :-)

This was a good song from the late Lizzy albums. But If you want the best Thin Lizzy prefer the original band from 1974 to 1978 with songs like Suicide, Massacre (live version) Emerald, Johnny the Fox meets Jimmy the weed, Warrior or Me and the boys extract from ALIVE AND DANGEROUS album (extraordinary dual guitars ) But please avoid the commercial song « the boys are back in Town » one song which made them being famous but Thérèse by far better songs than the latter.

Who comes up with such proposals?? I really, really love Thin Lizzy, but the Snowy White era is their weakest by far! Please do some classic stuff like "Emerald", "Cowboy Song", "Dancing In The Moonlight"... You're missing so much class, it's unbelievable... You did "Killer Without A Cause" from my favorite Lizzy album "Bad Reputation", but in fact, that's really the weakest song on that album! So again - who's making those really unfortunate proposals???
