Brazilian people are very similar in some ways. They don’t say no. They speak loud. They kiss and hug a lot. They use their hands to talk. They are late. They come to your house without tell you in advance. They use “God” all the time...🙃

Lol! This reminds me of when I worked in a restaurant where one of the owner's was a Lebanese man from Montreal and anytime he'd try to feed me it was always, like "Yalla Malaka, you want some food?" and I swear, he'd empty an entire deep fryer basket of fries onto a plate and give it to me (or make it into a poutine!). Then halfway through my shift, while I kept the plate in back, snacking between tables, he'd say "What the f#c* man, you dont like it? You dont feel good? Why havent you finished it yet?". And inevitably, at the end of the night, if I wasn't done, I still couldn't throw it out, it was always "Hey, don't throw out my food, you take that home, keep it as a late night snack. Here, I'll give you some more, take it home for your father!". I started that job at 145 Lbs, and when the restaurant closed 5 years later, I was 200!

Generally, all true, and very accurate. 1:05 Eventually, if you know someone well enough, you could figure out the formula for their time delay, and set up your meeting in a way where you factor in the lateness. For example: Your buddy is late 43 minutes on average in the winter, and you want to meet up at 1 PM, you ask to meet up at 12:15 PM. Anyone else do that with their Arab family and friends?! 😂

For my very Lebanese wedding, I put 1pm on the wedding invite knowing that people would be late. The wedding actually started at 2:00pm. And when I got there, there were still people running in!! Like my ceremony would have been over if it started at 1 and they showed up at 2 lol!

I'm not Arab myself, but a lot of this still has familiar vibes, because my grampa is Saudi (gramma's first husband died when mom was a baby, she eventually married the dude I call grampa, they had my mom's siblings, blah blah blah long story short big mixed family). Grampa will always offer food to anyone who comes over, and never just once, regardless of if someone declines or whatever. And it's apparently not unusual for him to be late, or at least later than other members of the family, but part of that might also just be that his personality is pretty laid back, meanwhile a lot of our family members are anxious people by default. I don't understand/speak Arabic, but... yyyyup, definitely familiar with "habibi". He always wears a cap (I mean baseball-cap style hat), he's done so more than my whole life. It doesn't matter if he's inside. He once wore traditional ones, so really this is an interesting way he is keeping an old, familiar habit, it's just that it's altered a bit.

The contents of the video makes me smile ...coz it took me years to learn about arabs .I taught arabs English for 15 years .... after the lockdown I wouldnt be teaching them as before ...the most annoying things about the arabs is keeping up time / lying looking into ur eyes / say one thing and do exactly the opposite / can never decide /never satisified with anything /need your service but hate you /want their way in everything ..... Feeling so relieved the arab chapter is over .
