This was so painful to watch. It made me look at how I speak to my husband, my tone and the words I choose. She speaks over him and puts him down and has to control the situation. Saying your husband is a failure on KZbin is appalling. Lesson learned…. I want to do better ❤

Time spent learning is never wasted. Never. I'm guessing Josh learned about working with a boss and a team, working with the public, running a retail business (he mentioned that), and more. He surely learned about himself which is most important. Bravo for trying something new, something out of your comfort zone for a while. I consider that a significant success. Kudos to Megan for supporting Josh in his endeavors.

I don't think Josh failed. He tried something, learned a lot of lessons, and then decided it wasn't for him. That's a success in my books. It was honestly brave to pivot and be ok with change. He should be proud of himself.

Josh didn't fail he just realized where his true passion and skills were. I applaud him for taking the chance and trying something new. Btw last time we were in Lancaster, we ate at September Farm and food was delicious, trailer happened to be there that day and we tried their donuts, they were out of this world delicious. Love to all of you. Have a blessed evening.

Thank you, Josh, for chatting with us! It's not a failure to participate in a mutually beneficial project for a year and then go back to your other work. You learned new skills that you can carry forward into your business and you have an ongoing relationship with your former employer. That's a win-win. A friend of mine has his own remodel/handyman business and he works Tuesday through Friday. He takes Mondays at home; it's his office day to do all the paperwork.

Josh is so humble and I'm so glad he tried something new for awhile. No man working a job to support a family is a failure. ❤ And my husband is similar in that he grew up in a family business. He got tired of it and branched off for a bit... now he's the sole owner of the family business. Never would have guessed but God's plan and timing is perfect.

It doesn’t seem *kind* to assign the word “failure” repeatedly to your husband. He took a sabbatical from construction for a year and now he’s back at it. I think trying to make changes to better yourself and your situation shows growth and maturity. I wish you both the best in 2024!

I agree with Josh. His short term job was not a failure. It was an opportunity that God interjected into his life to learn more business sense. I feel we should never look at these changes at failures. Just redirection and refocus. And I hope that with your kids you keep positive influences rather than a failure mentality.

Josh it is good to hear you are back to what you enjoy doing most. The time you spent on the other job for the 8 months was a time to rest from construction and now you are reenergized to get back in. My husband is in construction and people are looking for good, hardworking, knowledgeable and full of integrity construction workers. God has gifted you in this area and your skills. God’s plans are never wrong.

I agree with Josh. He did NOT FAIL !!! he tried something that he was willing to try. He did it,he accomplished it, at the end he knew it wasn't his calling. He is NOT a FAILURE. when women try something and things don't work out no one calls them failures, we say that Failing would be never trying new things in life. it seems that Josh is a level headed man with ambition, he found that he really lived Construction. And like he said, no one knows what God has for him, maybe one day he will want to be a truck driver... he hasn't FAILED you as a husband, he didn't fail as a Dad. So in my humble opinion he is NOT a Failure. You both are a wonderful couple with a beautiful little family. 🙏🙏

I’m a mom of 2 who has a full time job/career outside my house (or I will, when I go back from maternity leave 😅) and I think you are a career woman! I mean that in the best way possible, but you have a shop, a successful KZbin channel, and podcast! That’s a career 🎉! Everyone should find what works for them! Also for anyone “older” (like me 😅), I got married when I was 26, and had my two kids at 31 and 35, and I’m very happy with that, and when I had my first baby I felt super confident about it! I hope to have one more, if God wills it! So just fodder for anyone who is pondering their life.

I usually enjoy watching your videos, but this one was very disappointing. First of all, why would you say that Josh "failed"? That is something I would NEVER say about my husband . . . even if he did, and Josh definitely did not fail. In fact, he seems to have done an amazing job of getting the donut cart up and running and successful. And you actually said that you were "embarrassed" by Josh's job changes and choices. I think my mouth dropped open when you said that. There was nothing embarrassing about Josh's decisions. Also, calling your home a "fixer upper" is absolutely ridiculous. Your house is beautiful and perfectly liveable just as it is. In fact, I would give anything to have a gorgeous kitchen like yours. Just because it's not your style, doesn't make it a fixer upper. My husband and I bought a true fixer upper when we got married. It needed all new wiring, plumbing, and a complete makeover. You seem like a nice person, but as a Mennonite, I would expect you to be a bit more humble and a lot more grateful. Those are two traits I admire most in my Mennonite friends. You have so much compared to a lot of women your age, and you don't seem to appreciate it or have gratitude for it. Please go back and watch this video and realize how your comments must have felt to Josh. I hope that these comments were not a reflection of how you really feel. I wish your family a very happy new year and continued success!

I was actually a little shocked to hear you guys went on only two dates, and then when you specified it was a coffee shop and a lunch date after an OB appointment, I was even more shocked because those are rather casual “dates”. Not quite wearing your favorite dress and going out for a steak dinner! I’m so glad to see that your love for each other is thriving nonetheless!! I hope you’ll get a FEW more romantic dates together this year, but it’s all about balance and what you and your family have time for. 💕 Warm wishes and a happy new year to you Megan.

I’m so happy for Josh. I remember at the time he left construction, his brother had quit and it was during the supply shortages and was extremely stressful. God provided a different job opportunity for income and learning new things and now he can return to construction refreshed and excited. I would NOT call your home a “fixer upper”- but, a changing to my style. Josh is not failing, he’s a hard working man, doing what he needs to provide for his family. He is such a well grounded man. I greatly respect him.

I’m excited for Josh! It’s so good too to have your own sons work for you, my husband said our sons were the best workers he ever had when they joined him in construction. We now have a different business construction related but selling the product, still a joint venture with our sons. My husband gets calls too from former customers from years ago and it’s always kind of hard to pass them on to someone else. It’s really hard to work for someone else when you’ve been your own boss and such a need for workers skilled in building/remodeling. Blessings to you!

Last year when you told us Josh was changing jobs, I was a little shocked. Thats awesome that you are restarting your construction business! One time this fall I was driving on Rt. 23 and there was the donut/pretzel trailer across from Yoder's Market! I didn't think to check the schedule of where it would be that day, so I was so happy I came upon the trailer. I stopped to buy a pretzel and a donut to take home and I was excited cause I was hoping to say Hi to Josh. Unfortunately he was not there and in watching your video or instagram I found out he was at a Dr. appointment with you! So once again congratulations to Josh and to both of you on your fourth little bundle of joy! Love your videos Megan!

I love how Josh explains his thoughts about the work he did over the last year and all his learning opportunities, as well as his reasoning for returning to construction. Josh is a wise man, father and husband. I enjoyed listening to his thoughts as he, not once, stared anything negative about either career choice or his past boss, family and colleagues. I agree that the word failure should never enter the conversation. There is no failure, sounds to me like a huge learning growth opportunity that benefited both the folks Josh worked with and himself. Megan, you are fortunate, the Lord must have been working, when he broughtJosh into your life. Josh has such a calming presence. I’m 2 years old and would be proud t have Josh as a son. Take care and trust in God. God bless this new era you both are going into with more family to care for and life business 😊.

Megan I love you, but I hope you gain some perspective for your husband’s sake - Josh’s change is not a failure. If that were so, you would hate to see my life and the changes my husband and I have made, and often have been forced to make. In my opinion we are just fine and where God wants us. I am happy with my life! But in the world’s eyes, we are certainly failures. However, I don’t concern myself any longer with what the world thinks of me. In reality, all life-learning comes from trials, testing, and change. That is how God grows us! ❤️ I say all of this in love.

It is never a “fail” when you try something new … as Josh said he learned about the business and he seems re-energized to start back at construction. I wonder if it is as hard for guys to say “no” (to a new construction job) as it is for women to say “no” to people when over-extended. Don’t let yourself take on too much, Josh, especially when you have a new baby and less sleep! All the best in 2024! ❤️🇨🇦🙏

Congrats Josh! Having your own business is hard but rewarding work. The word failure was used several times and I totally agree with Josh that it should never be used in conjunction with the change that you are making.

And Josh helping your channel by editing, helping with kids or being on with you is such a bonus. Good for you, Josh. .

My husband and I like to stop and have a cocktail at so little hole in the way. Whenever are a lone driving together. I know you probably don't drink cocktails, but something delicious and quick. We count those as date nights. Our kids are older, so they don't always have to be with us, but when you get those moments, it's nice to take 15- 20 minutes treating ourselves and enjoying our moments a lone.

Megan at the beginning of the video says she’s going to be kinder to her family. Megan at the end of the video saying she’s embarrassed and her husband is a failure. Is that a speed record for breaking a resolution?

I'm planning to start a prayer answered/ miricals book for 2024 and beyond. Just to have a place to write down all the amazing things God dose in the life of my family. So when we go through hard time's when we need to trust him we'll have a reminder that he's listening and cares. Also I just think it will be fun to see in years to come. Anyways I think it's a fun little thing to do.

My word always chooses me around Oct./No. and then I have or see little confirmations the following months. This year 2024 will be CONSISTENCY. I want to make a few changes to my health, my schedule, and just overall well being and I believe rather than looking at the overwhelming task of creating new habits - I'm looking at starting small and building through consistency!

At one point in our marriage, my husband quit his job and started his own business. It did not work out but it was a wonderful learning experience and gave us a lot more time to do church duties. I don't think most things that don't work out should ever be considered a failure.

Calling it goals makes it seem too overwhelming to me so I just call it things I want to get done. I don't even think of it as things I need to do. Wants apply to whatever it is that I'm doing. 😀 Also I want to say that you never know when something like a brain tumor can change everything about your life. So just being able to walk and think straight is such a great blessing. I always love being a Mom though💕
