The contrast between Gluttony's childlike nature and Pride's calculating nature is interesting. While Gluttony can appear large and imposing from the perspective of normal people, he's essentially an oaf who follows orders due to not knowing any better and is perfectly amiable when left to his own devices (see: when he took Al to meet Father). Meanwhile, Pride appears as a child from the perspective or normal people, but is the oldest of the homunculi and is willing to do anything to win, even if it means taking hostages and devouring allies. It's sad the way that Gluttony died, even worse when you consider that he was killed by his own brother as well.

Ed taking inspiration from Greed to use the carbon in his automail to make a shield as strong as his is probably one of my favorite things of this part of the series.

Probably also helps negate that the lighter weather built automail is likely naturally frailer too, so it's a net plus all around.

It's really impressive how Ed's alchemy adapts to the people that he's fighting, such as weakening Greed's ultimate shield, cancelling out Scar's Destruction alchemy with his own burst, or hardening the carbon in his automail to make a weapon capable of deflecting Pride's attack. Once you give him a rematch or time to think, it's already over.

@@asioca1992that's only really possible because he does not have use an transmutation circle/array .... other alchemist could understand the theory and even aply the concept but they could not do so fast enough or flexibly enough for it to matter ... that is why most alchemist that fight stick to one type of transmutation one that has its formula transcribed to a piece of gear primarily gloves so they do not need to recreate it again and again. Mustangs spark gloves, Amstrongs gauntlets, Scars Hand tattoo, or Kimbleys palm tattoos ...

Gluttony was the nicest Homunculus after Greed. His only flaw is that he eats others, but he's Gluttony and it's not like he does it because he enjoys eating humans. He didn't deserve this at all.

Remember how I said all the humonculi are defeated/die in a very thematic way, as associated with their death? This is what I mean. Lust was killed an act of love (Roy stopped her from killing Hawkeye - his girl) and gluttony was eaten by his sibling who in turn came from the same being originally as he did (It seems appro that one would eventually eat themselves under the sin of Gluttony, no?) I'll save the rest for when it occurs, but you get the idea.

Its always really fun how no one can see the value of kidnapping Mrs. Bradley until it's revealed. It's not a dunk on anyone, more so just me praising the show's writing

Hoenhiem was s the best alchemist there but he isn’t a combatant. He’s got almost zero combat skill. When he came up against pride in the tunnels all he could do was try to run away so he wouldn’t be as useful as you’d think in this 0 visibility combat scenario.

I like to think Lust cared about Gluttony like an older sister protectinh the bean from the abuses of her brothers. She kept him disciplined and in line and genuinely seemed to have a bond with him All the rest did was use him

To be fair, I think Envy cared for Lust and Gluttony as well, Envy gets legitimately enraged at Roy when he learns of Lust's death and actively wants to relentlessly hunt him down to avenge her, with Gluttony, Envy isn't even mad when he accidently 'eats' him, Ed, and Ling. Envy seems to lightly make fun of Gluttony like an older brother would but also still looks after him an not get mad when he messes up badly as he knows Gluttony takes his and Lust's words to heart, Envy seems actually aware of Gluttony's childlike mindset and like Lust slightly coddles him a bit. I think, while there would be nothing he could actually do to Pride, Envy would be livid at Pride for what happened in this episode. Lust, Envy and Gluttony kind of formed their own little subgroup within Father's ranks and seem to prefer to stay around each other, with Lust being the leader of the three to do most of the thinking. (Not to say Envy doesn't take it upon himself to do some nasty shit on his own, mind you.)

I think Mustang's plan to take Bradley's wife into his custody is because he needs to get the public on their side, I don't want to say more but you'll see why else they got her as part 1 of their plan eventually.
