How did I get here? This unexpected antiquing stop in a new city gives us all plenty to gawk at in this video, when Antique Specialty Mall appears along a stretch of old Route 66 in Albuquerque, New Mexico!
This time worn tourist road turns out to be our avenue to timeless treasure, as we find a lot of really great and rather unique collectibles in this surprisingly large antique center! Mexican and Southwest Pueblo pottery are to be expected, but that piece of Marblehead Pottery in a neighboring booth is seldom seen outside its native Massachusetts. Turquoise jewelry is a staple in these parts, but we find scarce forms of turquoise from played-out mines that no longer produce, along with a friendly and knowledgable guide to tell us why some of those pure blue stones are so scarce!
Cushman maple furniture from Vermont with a rustic western flare? Century old herbal remedies and mid-20th century designer furniture? Mastodon bones and musical instruments? This place juxtaposes a whole lot of fun and desirable collectibles in a really large space! That tells me that a longer trip to Albuquerque's antiquing attractions is a trip worth making in the future.

That was an amazing antique adventure! I didn't see you buy anything. After my dad returned from Vietnam, we were stationed in Clovis NM, about 3 hrs from Albuquerque. We lived there for a year before going to Germany. My poor English rose mom wilted in the desert heat, to say the least! Happy trails to you, be safe!

Hi George! This is an awesome place! I like how spacious the booths are. They aren't as over crowded as most tend to be, but then that's usually how you get great deals. The turquoise jewelry was exceptional and very interesting to have such a knowledgeable vendor available to tutor us all. Very generous of him.

My heart would have skipped a beat! (Well, it already does every 10 beats) Very reasonable Broyhill Brasilia set. Last 2 dining table with chairs sets I sold for $3,500 each (I restored one and one original awesome condition with original bird fabric.) I saw the 2 leaves leaning up against the chest of drawers. If I were to see this set where I live, I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat. If you were there a couple of days you could have bought it and flipped it for a decent profit in that time period.

Good evening, George! I liked the Uneeda Biscuit jar. I have four old Uneeda Biscuit tins with scenes on them. The painting/print, behind the Cushman set, caught my eye. It reminded me of Jackson Pollock's work. Those herbalist items were fascinating. I wouldn't mind having a collection of those. It seems like Pyrex has almost become like an infestation of sorts. It's gotten close to the point of being boring, there's just so much of it. I, of course, loved the barrister bookcase. That mall had a lot of really interesting items. Thanks for taking us along for the tour!!!

I was wondering about all the art pieces - it seems like you skipped over them - maybe because you didn't have the time and most likely paintings and drawings would be a whole category of it's own when such a large store has so many - do you find valuable paintings or drawings very often? You hear every now and then of someone finding one that is from one of the mastes in a goodwill - I did find a beautiful scarf a while ago by the artist Jessie Oonark - vintage and sold for$100.00 on Etsy - the one I found went to my sister who is an artist in Sequim Wa -- Thank you

That cuff at 07:50 is classic Mexican sterling. Priced accordingly, doubtless. "Old pawn"... how I HATE that term; it's just a marketroid hype term that annoys every real NA jewelry dealer I ever met. 20:32 Navajo pearls were originally made from silver coins, hammered flat. The newer ones are just made of sterling bits. I bet your dealer knows that too - I'm no NA expert.

I’ve called ABQ home for just over two years. I have visited several of their antique malls just to look. Our Goodwills and Salvation Army’s are horrible, many are just full of junk. I feel like I’m living in the Wild West here. Not a safe place to be. High crime, streets full of homeless with drug and mental health issues. Come during the day but leave before dark. It’s such a shame because the surrounding areas are full of beautiful scenery.
