You have a crew cab so I can’t help you with the b-pillar, but if anyone reads this with the extended cab I was able to fix the rattle in my mine by opening both the doors on the side with the rattle finding the plastic shroud that covers the loop for the rear door latch and inspect the clips they should be attached solid, one in mine was loose. Work the clip off the plastic with some needle nose pliers. Add something to thicken the plastic, I used gorilla tape 2-3 layers in strips cut to size. Slightly close the open end of the metal clip with needle nose pliers and then reinstall it onto the taped plastic tab. Should be a lot stiffer and the rattle should be gone.

I lucked out (sort of). My seatbelt got twisted, so I opened up the B-pillar and fixed it. Rattle went away!

I dont know if anyone has taught you what reliable means but squeaks and rattles are not a reliability issue that's a nuisance's issue. reliability issues mean the truck won't start or won't go into gear it means the truck won't get you where you need to go .

There was definitely a lot to sort out with the truck (see some later updates), but thankfully it's been good for some time now. Knocking on wood!

@@Driven2DistractionAutos I have a 2021 and haven't had any issues with it I did a 2 inch lift a dif drop and changed the cv boots also i put on good year Duratrac 33s. mine don't rattle or squeak at all but I don't do donuts in either. donuts put all kinds of pressure on your body slightly twisting it which can stress the body and cause noise issues

Fair enough.

Given everything you hate about it, would you buy it again? Or recommend one?
@Driven2DistractionAutos4 жыл бұрын
It seems most buyers either get a perfect truck or a lemon. It's really a dice roll. I love its comfort and capability. I don't think I'd chance it on another one. If someone wanted a recommendation, I'd definitely warn them about the risks.

Driven2Distraction I have been looking at this and a TRD off road Tacoma, there are pluses and minuses on both sides. I’ve never had a Chevy, but I have had a Toyota, and it was bulletproof. I appreciate the response. It’s always better to get first hand experience.

I definitely like the ZR2 over the TRD. That said, I don't see keeping the Chevy long term. If I had the Toyota I would probably be passing it on to my seven-year-old.

@Joaly nocontroly Yeah they don't seem like fatal issues, just little tweaks hear and there.

Stock Duratracs have thin sidewalls, upgrade to Kevlar Duratracs, KO2's or wildpeaks. 19's have buggy BCM software. Tune and gears make it a totally different truck.

I will look into that. Thanks for the advice!

Sorry about that. Everything is in good shape now. Just trying to let people know about the new vehicle experience in this instance.

I bought a 2017 Colorado zr2 and it fell to piece's at 50k miles. Not reliable. 8l45 transmission is garbage. Do not buy gm trucks they are building junk. They also do not live up to the warranty. Look up the class action suit where gm lawyers argued they don't have to warrant the Colorado because it's a design defect of trans not workmanship or materials. Design defect isn't covered.

I am really sorry to hear that. It totally sucks to get stuck with an unreliable vehicle. Thanks for the info--will be on the lookout!

@@Driven2DistractionAutos Have 53,000 on a 2018 and love it. I'll never sell it. I think that the build quality of these is acceptable given the fun that I get out of this truck. I loved the fact that they wanted me to off-road the S*** out of this thing. I did it too. It actually helped find the "bugs" in mine and now my truck is as darn near perfect as it'll ever get.
