Born and raised in SD. Great video. I agree 110% percent about how expensive it is. I will admit, you get what you pay for. Weather is amazing, job opportunity is great, there is also so much diversity on culture and by wealth. Everyone has a place of welcome here. The opportunities are grand with so many colleges here in this fine ass city. It’s just how you want to take your life to the next level each and every time. If you are into photography, the open front to hidden gems of places you can capture! We have big military bases and it’s not far from other cities at all! Road trips are beautiful and so are staycations. The food, let’s just say the best melting pot of places you can get. You name it, we have just about every cultured cuisine here! Wishing you the best if you decide to work it out in SD!

Same with my friend. We were in the same boat and then suddenly one of the girls she was in a sorority with who lives in San Diego hit her up to come interview at the law firm she works at there. Suddenly she had a job that fast. If you know somebody out there you’ll be fine. If not you better have your money together.

Recently moved out of SD and just to add: It's more diverse the farther south you go. Downtown is pretty mixed, and everything south is more black and Latino. "East county" is all white, and less educated the farther you go. "North county" is white and Asian and where all the money is. On the coast is where you have all the frat bros, hippies, yuppies, tourism and commerce. People are friendly and they drive well, but there is a lot of narcissism and vanity that makes it feel like there isn't a sense of community there. As you said downtown is the only place to really hang out, as the rest of the metro is sprawling suburbia. Lots of people love it, but it's definitely not for everyone.

I live on the island of Kauai. I am moving to SD next month. I just spent a few days in SD looking for housing for me my two daughters and my wife. It’s all relative. During my three days in SD I felt like I was living in a clearance sell. Everything is so much cheaper than kauai, well other than housing. Housing is comparable to Hawaii but you get a much nicer place for the money in SD. The food in SD is 50-75% cheaper than kauai.... If you want something bad enough you make it happen. I see a lot of negative comments about how expensive it is, that’s just a poverty or lack mindset. I couldn’t afford kauai by any means when I moved here 3 years ago and I struggled for the first 2and 1/2, but I stayed and pushed through and now I’ve hustled my way to easy living in paradise, so that means, on to the next challenge. Comfort is the enemy of growth and greatness, it’s a sign that it’s time to push yourself. I cannot wait to get to San Diego and dominate that place too! Anything is possible for those of us that have the wear with all to make it happen. Thanks for the video my man, hopefully I run into you when I get there .... peace and love bruh.....

I'n born and raised in California. I should've paid more attention to Spanish class in 7th-8th grades. I discovered I had learned enough to get in trouble in a Tijuana bar. My main fast food is Mexican and I have the sweetest lady a few doors down and we speak Spanish in passing. I'm living west of the freeway east of the railroad tracks, but only about 1,500 feet from one of the top 5 beaches in the US. Gas prices today are about $3.43 for Regular. California has 2 types of gas, the Summer blend being more expensive. Freeway traffic depends on time of day and direction of flow. I like to get off the freeway and drive the coast when I'm not in any hurry. San Diego County is in a Mediterranean climate and has beaches, inland valleys, foothills, pine tree topped mountains and deserts. On the same day you can swim, surf, dive in the ocean, go hiking or snow skiing in the mountains or play in the desert sands. My best days for grocery shopping are Saturday or Sunday before 10 a.m. or Wednesday or Thursdays.

Palm trees, beautiful beaches, sunshine, good weed, pretty women comes no affordable housing options, high credit score standards, a very competitive job market, high gas prices, and depending on where you live, homeless people issues. If you're a 2nd ammendment enthusiast, forget about it. Make sure your money is up or you're planning on living with three other people who hold jobs and can contribute when you move here.

Been here in SD for 15 years. It’s by far the most beautiful city and best weather. But it’s expensive. I make 120K and have a company car and I just don’t feel secure here. A 1 bedroom apartment is 1500 a month minimum. Foods more, gas is more, waters more, taxes are higher. If you got the money, no better place. If you want to buy a house and have security...not the best option. I’m finally leaving, moving to Utah. Many of the companies in Cali are leaving as well because it’s too expensive to operate. Before I left san diego in 2016 gas was *$4.50 a gallon!!* SD was just becoming too expensive, but you have the right mentality and you'll fit right in. Check out Normal Heights, University Heights and South Park. Nice areas walk around and have lunch with the family.

I just moved to San Diego 6months. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it! You definitely have to save up and have a decent job in place first hand before moving to Ca. Ppl are really sweet as well.

@@Ava2969ny hmmm 🤔.... the dating here seems to suck for singles. Ppl seem to not be as patient with Communication...everyone is in a dam hurry!! Lol..Also depending on what Age group you fall into. Meaning....21-35 there’s a lot of cool spots in old town, north park, and the gas lamp area. Now if your 40 plus look into La Jolla, Carlsbad, it’s a more grown and sexy type of vibe areas. It just depends on what your type of speed is.

@@chrissylovinmylife - I've heard some good things about Carlsbad. Do you think a person can live well there on 75K? I'm asking because I don't really want to relocate and live with roommates.
@patr707 жыл бұрын
The San Diego urban coastline runs from Mission Beach(near Sea World) all the way up to Carlsbad which is about 30 miles of BEAUTIFUL Coastline. There is also alot of social/party type atmosphere in La Jolla, Del Mar, Solona Beach and Cardiff bt the Sea which are all coastal beach cities.

I left in 2007. I was making close to 3000 k a month after tax, but was getting tired of wasting money in San Diego. The place is way too over taxed, rent is out of control. I would rather make less and enjoy more of what I have than have very little leftover to do anything with.

Good for you to move someplace different and a great place as well. I cannot afford to move to San Diego but I'm going to go there for at least 2 years just to enjoy the nice people/weather. After that prolly back to some boring cold place lol. Oh yeah, people love your accent because it sounds so different and friendly. You've already got friends there, congrats!

Welcome to America's Finest City... Gas hits $4+ a gallon in the summer. CA has seasonal blends where we have to refine the oil and import it and export it out of the state. We pay almost a $1 in taxes per gallon.

I’ve seen a few friends leave San Diego with their tale between their legs. Not for the faint of heart. Money talks. You can be fine as fuck, ain’t gonna help.

You will have to move to the Inland Empire.. think Temecula if you are a normal Joe. Houses are high even there, but nothing like San Diego. You won't come here and get ahead, forget it. You better have money and be prepared to spend it. There is a lot to do and the weather is great, but the high costs make so many people leave.
@marcusmckie6 жыл бұрын
i just bought a 3400 sqft house in Temecula lol. waaaay cheaper than Diego. The only thing that sucks is the commute i make everyday to work since my job is in San diego. San Diego houses are just too much for so little.
@Ryan-jx4vh6 жыл бұрын
marcus mckie So many commuters in Temecula going to Diego. I still shake my head at people dropping $500k on a run down tiny house there. I just don’t get it. We haven’t had a recession in what a decade? I think a lot of those people who bought those shacks at the top, may end up losing big dollars in the next downturn. It is really scary to think about.

Sadly the drive sucks from Temecula to SD.. Be aware their are NO jobs in Temecula unless you want to work a retail job. So you must commute North or south to SD. Did it for 3 yrs..Yes, the houses were bigger BUT the cost the same you'll spend 2 hrs a day 5x a week driving and sitting in traffic on return trip home north thats 10 hrs a week in traffic and away from your kids/ family (your mental health will suffer) and then the wear and tear on car and gas tank a week (oil change 1x per month, tires 1x a year) so after all is said and done, moving to Temecula area sucked....by the time you do all this, its easier to stay in SD and cheaper!! YMMV

Gonna be real for a moment. All of you people who have dreams of living in Southern California, I have news for you: IT IS EXPENSIVE BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN IMAGINE. Do not move here unless you have financial security and a solid job, or else your life will suck and pretty much consist of working two jobs so you can afford rent and living expenses. Housing And rent costs here are insane and they're not going to go anywhere but up. Just be prepared. It's no joke
