Reprinting LOB boxes is something I really hope they do. I've always wanted to open up LOB boxes and pull a Blue-Eyes. I think this would be great for us OG casuals.

I think they should do this for GX era one day GX is short printed as is when it came out and alot of people missed out I think it would be a great marketing move but there's probably going to be issues there too something's going on under the table with sets like MFC and storm of neos

Reprinting old cards is 100% good for the hobby. Most people are not hard core collectors and are just casuals like me that watches these videos for fun knowing I’ll never buy thousand dollar plus boxes. Reprinting does decrease the values of the cards but makes it more accessible for people like me and brings people back into the game. At the end of the day, I don’t care about card prices. I care about growing the game and bringing people back in.

I believe you will be able to tell the difference from E/EN variants because on the bottom right corner of those card it has “1996 KAZUKI TAKAHASHI” and the newer ones have the longer new name on them.

I think this is great. Makes the hobby more accesible for people who just love the nostalgia of it and will put a dent into the ridiciously overprized boosters from old Legendary Collection reprints. Not just that, but people who just want to have an old booster box as a display piece for aestethic reasons without caring about the value or wanting something that expensive just sitting on their shelves will finally have a way to do so.

I m pretty exited tbh. When i was like 13 and started collecting, i had about 150 holo cards from the first few sets, and i realy cared for them to not get damaged, but sadly someone stole them from me sometime later. Thats what kept me from collecting yugioh cards since then, because everytime i think of it, it still pisses me of. Anyway.. i finally started again like half a year ago, and well.. i still miss my cards, so this is actually pretty amazing.

I’m someone who spent a lot of money on unlimited boxes. I have a few, LOB, Magic Ruler, MFC etc. Admittedly, I’m terrified that I’ve made a huge mistake, but I do love that they are doing this throwback. Just hurts a little bit, and I feel a little foolish for buying them. But I hope the fact they are the original boxes will still mean something value wise.

I really feel the difference between old reprints and modern ones, and I think more people will start to distinguish them. Something i'd like to know that might be good news for you, is if they're gonna use the modern layout on cards (lighter colors, larger artwork, smaller stars, shiny atribute & levels,...) this would be way too different to old reprints and wouldn't affect their value very much

Definitely. As much as I like the deal of buying an unlimited card rather than 1st edition card that I really want, I am definitely seeing how much that 1st edition stamp is a safeguard from losing all the money you put into the cards you buy. Especially with Yugioh since Konami reprints cards like crazy.

Friendly heads up to those who are planning on purchasing from that site mentioned on the video, it's extremely buggy. After changing the settings on the home page (top right) to your country, it would continue to pivot back to Canada currency as you go to a new page. Such a good thing for Yugioh. It’s exactly like evolutions for Pokémon. That box brought so many people back to the hobby just to open packs that had cards that looked like the ones they opened as a kid. This box is also a great way for someone to start their sealed collection on a budget but still have something that looks awesome

Thanks for the advice. I had mixed feelings about this. I’m definitely excited to open a ton of this product for all 6 sets. However, I am also into the investment side of collecting, and can see and have seen in the past how much these reprints can affect cards you have that are valuable. Luckily, I don’t have many cards from the 6 sets they are reprinting aside from a couple that are unlimited. So there’s not much downside for me personally and I also can see how it would help the hobby by bringing old collectors back into the hobby. I will take your advice and try to wait a month or two before purchasing a few cases of each set as an investment. Hopefully this will be the last time for a while that they actually print booster boxes of these sets since it’s for the 25th anniversary. I will be interested to see if they designate the reprint cards with some kind of mark on the front so that they can’t be confused with the older unlimited cards. I think putting a small distinguishing mark on it would help make everyone in the hobby happy, because it’s less likely to affect the value of other peoples older unlimited cards but us poors will still get the opportunity to open LOB and other booster boxes, something I thought I would never be able to do without shelling out thousands of dollars.

I think this is a great way for younger players to experience the greats from the earlier booster sets. Its also a nostalgic factor for the OGs like myself and can also bring that traditional format back into the spot light. I miss the old days of yugioh so I am super excited for this! For those who don't know, walmart's Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, and Pokémon cards are all handled by a third party vendor that 100% does repackage and sell their products as they see fit. Those plastic boxes and singles bulk packs are hand picked by the vendor, not walmart, and not Konami.

As much as I love the OG starter decks and would like to obtain them again, I think it is also important to preserve some of the value from these older gems. I think it’s okay to reprint SOME but not all. You don’t want our favorite cards from our childhood to plummet in value.

I noticed the Konami logo too. That and the new Yu-Gi-Oh logo with the white font are a giveaway that they're reprint booster packs. I'm happy to pick them up, I just wonder if they'll have the same pull rates as the old days or if they've made it easier to get the valuable cards.

As a retro format player I’m looking forward to using the packs as prize support at time wizard events. With any luck the reprints will bring down the price of older unlimited prints as I like how they look and feel over the later prints. I really do wish they would reprint other sets. Pharaonic Guardian would be an amazing reprint right now, not only for retro players (Metamorphosis, Dustshoot) but also for modern players who are chasing cards like Necrovalley and Maiden of the Aqua. Nothing much changes with this anyway. 1st Ed always has been where the value is.

That's exactly my feeling. I want to wait but if I miss out I'd feel terrible. I think maybe pre ordering one of each box on release then waiting a month or two to see what happens and if prices go down, buy another round of them to lower your dollar cost average. I feel that's the best strategy.

Reprinting older sets is fine as long as their is a clear distinction between the reprinted packs and original packs. For example, Original print Lob unlimited versus reprinted legendary collection lob unlimited is super hard for the casual player to distinguish. Konami needs to clearly identify reprinted cards from their original counterparts

Modern cards have the copyright licensing of 2020 Shueisha, not 1996 Kazuki Takahashi and the 1.Edition/Limited is placed left from it since Pendulums, lol. Cards are much brighter, the letter box on the top has also sharp edges for a while now, the text box would write [Dragon/Normal], instead of just [Dragon], old spell cards are 'magic cards' up to MFC, the Anubis hologram on the bottom right has little stars on modern cards and holos didn't have foiling on the levels and attributes.

there is no problem at all with reprinting as many of these sets as people want. It doesn't harm collectors because a first edition from any of these sets will always be the first edition etc. I would def like to see some gx sets reprinted just for the fun of getting to open all them again LoL

Much like Pokemon reprints of Base Set it really only brings more collectors into the hobby and reinvigorates interest. Nostalgia is a powerful thing after all. I don't really collect Yu-Gi-Oh since I played when i was little but i ordered a 25th Anniversary LOB booster box to display on my shelf even though i missed it when I was growing up starting out with Metal Raiders. Being able to pull a Blue Eyes or Exodia is awesome!

Great analysis, I have a couple theories as to what the Quarter Century Rare cards will potentially look like. Considering the current Starlight Rare cards seem to be a smash hit on the market, they might look similar to something like that with a "25th" stamped on the text box. (Similar to the "Speed Duel" cards) Another theory would be something similar to the Pharaoh's Rares from Magnificent Mavens, with a design similar to the Egyptian Hieroglyph foil pattern but with "25"s or something. I'm also now wondering if Konami is potentially testing the waters to see how a "Legendary Collection" reprint will fare, as if they see they're selling well, it might green light them into reprinting the other sets like "Duel Academy Years" or "Yugi's World". (Or at least make a set VERY similar to them) Overall, I'm excited for the chance to open these again, & I don't think they'll affect the vintage market at all.

Hey man another question that popped up in my mind: since the copyrights changed from Kazuki Takahashi to Studio Dice, wouldn't this appear on the reprinted cards and further distinguish them from previous prints aswell?

That’s correct. I don’t think these cards will replace vintage unlimited or affect them really. They will probably impact 2010/2013/2017 reprints more than vintage. Maybe I’ll make a video on that. Thanks for viewing the videos.

Most people actually don't know how to distinguish an old LOB reprint to a newer one. Konami is really careful about this, since they reprint every card with a lot of differences. For example, the placement of the letters in the lore box in relation with other things in the card. Like the blue eyes from LOB, you can difference the old one from the newer because of the last dot in the sentence is alligned with the A from ATK, while the 2010 is not. Also the hologram from the legendary collection has stars in it, while the oldest reprints don't. you should know your cards well so you can tell where it came from.

I'm pretty sure the new boxes will also have the "new" Yugioh logo, the one they started using around Zexal. Also, the cards themselves might have TV Tokyo 2020 written in the bottom right, rather than Kazuki Takahashi, which could serve as a good distinguisher.

This is great for lowering the prices down, though Unlimited will probably be annoying to some, for whatever dumb reason. I do want to say...people should ONLY PULL FOR NOSTALGIA. The pre-order prices are literally the same prices as modern-day sets. Unless you maybe want to try and pull like GOAT format cards, none of the cards will really see play, and you are generally better off buying modern-day sets. This is really a set for people who started since basically the beginning (Magic Ruler, before it was changed to Spell Ruler). Generally, most players are gonna be coming from GX end to 5D beginning, so most players shouldn't really have any interest in this whatsoever. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but packs used to not include a foil. Like you could pull tons of packs, but not get a single foil card. If it stays the same here with the reprints, be aware you might not even pull a rare.

Personally, I would like to see them reprint the original Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, and Pegasus decks. Sure, add the EN, so that the classic SDK-001 can maintain it's value. That's fine with me. But it would be nice to be able to get those decks again without shelling out hundreds of dollars. I got bills, yo.

The cards don't mean much inside the set since they're going to be the unlims. The big thing is that it's a special 25th stamped pack. Unless they put a 25th anni rare in each set, it's probably meant to be kept sealed.

Also to answer your question they should make it say 2nd edition or have in the Conor unlimited or change the year to 2023 instead of 96 or even the 2020 make it stand out from the ogs but definitely fair for ppl like me who picks a booster box up once a year so if iwbas in your shoes I'd be kinda worried but yet if there smart they'll do something different or even new to make it like yeah this is new not old
