It landed on it's roof too, gave me an excessive load error with no throttle. Ran over, took the body off, turned it off, then back on. Smoke came out and I immediately turned it off again. I'm glad I was able to even turn the damn thing off, I almost lost another set of brand new batteries.

Appreciate the shout out and kind words Raz 🤗. That FG is absolutely Gorgeous 👀. Talk about Beast. Not sure what happened with your XLX2. Think it was probably a bad unit. To be fair everything was fine, Id suggest changing to a hobbywing Max5 800kv setup with 34/39 motor and spur gear. Outdrives need to be M2C Racing or Scorchedparts. Finally when mid air the trigger needs to be fully pressed to make backflips. Center diff with silicone earplugs work a dream 😁👌.

Drive shafts breaking? All I can say is "GPM", lol

@IRONCaptainPanic3 жыл бұрын
@@AutoBodyEverything I have nothing against castle, they make extremely powerful electronics that don't compare to others, but castle needs to do something about the xlx2 esc's, I am not a pin it wide open basher like these guys are, but 2 of these esc's I have bought, and some of my friends bought who also drive like me have set fire under lower cell batteries, we don't run our rc's past 4 or 6 cell, and they still blow up. I don't know what's going on with them, but at a couple rc meets in Michigan I've went to had over 4 esc fires because of this. system, I've been in this hobby for 6 years and those esc's are something I don't mess with after my experience.
@deontay79ify3 жыл бұрын
@@IRONCaptainPanic exactly. It’s the esc for sure. It’s unfortunate cause they are a powerhouse
@IRONCaptainPanic3 жыл бұрын
@@deontay79ify that's what I'm thinking, castle creations had made some rc killing motors and esc's over the years, and if this esc wasn't a slight bit of a time bomb, it very well could almost overthrow the hobbywing max esc's altogether, there has to be one main component on the esc's pcb board that is causing this almost outlet sounding pop when it shorts out. The soda can sized motor is very close to the primal rc raminator electric conversion kit, and if castle revises the esc and does some stress testing and locate the problem, this system might be able to be a budget electric conversion kit for the raminator, I am not saying it would 100% work for a kit, but it has potential. For me it's just sad seeing a brand that I've trusted for years of the insane power I crave, slowly, and literally, go up in flames, I'm not ditching Castle yet, I probably wouldn't ever do that, but a thing your so invested into with thousands of dollars put into it to have the most fun since you were younger, burn up and destroy your rc, is not worth the stress of looking at an overdone Thanksgiving turkey. I would be extremely upset. And I'm pretty sure everyone who's had this happen to them is hopefully going to wait until this esc's revised

Woooow can't wait seeing more of the FG. Start 8S paralell, then you can try MGM 400 or even the 800 to get more power and eventually speed out then the Castle esc.

You need to run an in-line fuse from the battery to the ESC and start at like 80 A and keep bumping it til it can handle the speed you want. I used to have a classic Futaba ESC that came with a fuse.

I have a ton of GPM parts on my kraton 8s. From what i've learned, structural parts like tie rods, steering components, braces, hubs, and most of the a arms are great. The drivetrain parts are not so great. The metal is too soft. Even if its nice and solid when you get it, the holes that the pins are pressed into will stretch out under power and they'll loosen up and fall out. Theyre also very easy to bend by hand. Eventually I'll switch to M2C axles/shafts but for the 6 months i've had it the stock axles have been just fine (better than the gpm for sure). I'm running a Max5 and spektrum 5687 1100kv with 30/47 gearing and it has enough power to backflip even the kraton chassis, runs cool, and is rock solid reliable. Maybe consider a hobbywing esc for the basher? I've never melted a castle but maybe i've just been lucky. I've run silicone plugs in the center since day 1 and its been great.

You have to put some installation under your ESC and batteries when you're jumping and bashing like that. That could be why your ESC is catching fire.

What happened to your esc what make it caught fire

Just curious, is there a product that cuts the power from a separate switch for this type of blow up? Like a emergency cut off or something

Those FG cars are amazing. Are you going to be doing full hydraulic disk brakes on each corner? Can't wait to see!

I use m2c overkill driveshafts and have the same setup as you in my kr8 those shafts are indestructible I've beat the hell out of them for months your difs will break before them driveshafts ever do

The yikes factor watching you glue the planetary gears together was 8/10. All good trucks deserve a 'posi-traction' rear diff but you could have taken out the gears and used set-screws / pinion screws some how.. Wish you better luck.

I wonder how long it will take until people finally understand Castle can't make proper products. Their ESC's have sadly never been reliable, with fanboys claiming it's always user error.

Maybe they can’t bash? He seems to send them down the road at 160- 170 no probs . Wonder if the heavy impacts short it out or something?

I see you have a FG Sportline. I want to get on myself. Maybe this spring. I prefer the gas over electric myself but the chassis' themselves are the same. Is there any issues i should or would need to concern myself with or that you know about?

Is the dual motor car still getting the carbon fiber body? That body is sick! As far as the esc fire goes, I'm not sure what would cause it. I would recommend trying the mamba monster x 8s in the next basher, it's not like you need 600 amps offroad lol
