How much do you really know about the Vietnam War (Or Second Indochina War)?
Come with me as we dive deep intro the history of Vietnam, from the First Indochina War against France, all the way to the war against the United States of America.
Operation Rolling Thunder awaits, do not click away!
This video was heavily based on the Wondrium.com course on the Vietnam war! (Not Sponsored, I just really like it)
This video was heavily inspired by Oversimplified and Bill Wurtz (Especially his history of the entire world, I guess)

I am a Vietnamese living in Vietnam. The war between Vietnam and America made both sides sacrifice a lot. It is a mistake of the past that we must not forget. Because it is a lesson for both sides. Let's look forward to the future and develop together for a world where everyone has the right to live freely. equality and happiness Vietnamese people have risen from the ashes. We appreciate every moment of living in peace. Vietnamese people love peace but if any threat comes from outside Otherwise, the entire Vietnamese nation will stand up and unite to expel the enemy. And no matter how strong or big China is, Vietnam is not afraid. If China attacks or invades Vietnam, even if the Vietnamese people die, they will still fight and will not submit. The last person. When all Vietnamese people die, then China will win. Ask all Vietnamese people if they are afraid of China and you will understand.And I just want to say I respect soldiers, they only follow orders and they only want to serve their country and their homeland, so don't blame them. @@fluffybunny1200 bro.No, Vietnam will never be an ally with China. That alliance, whether it be America or Russia, is ten thousand times better than China. China has been trying to annex Vietnam for thousands of years. Vietnam only interacts with China for economic reasons because Vietnam is too dependent on China. But that reason is not enough for Vietnam to fear China. Do you understand that when a nation has lost faith, they will never forget? America attacked Vietnam, but they have corrected their mistakes and overcome the consequences. As for China, they will never stop dreaming of annexing Vietnam thousands of years ago

China isn't going to invade Vietnam, its cheaper for them to buy whatever things your country exports than going to war. China helped you in your war vs France, Japan and USA, and now helping VIetnam develop with foreign investments. They aren't the bad guy here.
@XuanVietNguyen1993
@XuanVietNguyen1993 2 ай бұрын
@@SilverforceX It's true that Vietnam is in dire need of China's economic support for export. But Vietnam has also seen the problem of not being too dependent on China. So Vietnam wants America to help with the export route. and needs support from European countries. Vietnam will have many opportunities to not be constrained anymore. Although both countries are communist. But the two countries are completely different. Do you think Vietnam would be much more comfortable and open? and willingness to integrate always pleases those who come. Just don't have a gun, you're not missing anything. No one stops or monitors you. You can speak your political arguments freely. As for China, you should try it. China is not good. If they were good, they wouldn't be so greedy to annex the entire East Sea. vs all countries in Asia. Facing them now is probably only the Vietnamese people

a minor correction, the ally's occupation to disarm the Japanese was divided between the Chang"s Army (Republic of China) north of the 16th parallel not the 17th, and the Brit to the South. The reason why the French could retake Cochinchina that fast was because the Brits beat up Việt Minh(Democratic Republic of Việt Nam) first and forced them out of the cities. But to the North due to the Civil War in China and having some compromises from both Việt Minh(Democratic Republic of Việt Nam) and the French, they withdraw their 200.000 soldiers back to China to fight the Communists. Then the French got some Compromise from Việt Minh (Democratic Republic of Việt Nam), and they moved north to jointly administrate the Government. And Cochinchina was a lot smaller and do not include Annam(the Central part of the country)

Great video, glad to see an Oversimplified-style take on the Vietnam War or as it is known in our country: "The War against American Aggression". A few facts and corrections on the video. 1. Nguyen Sinh Cung went to the Treaty of Versailes under the alias of Nguyen Ai Quoc ("Ai Quoc" means Patriot in Vietnamese), which was a collective pen name of a group of independence activists. Nguyen Sinh Cung later adopted the name and became the new face of independence activism through that. 2. Nguyen Sinh Cung, now Nguyen Ai Quoc, co-founded the Communist Party of Vietnam by uniting smaller parties in different parts of Vietnam. The founders met in Hongkong under the guise of playing mahjong. 3. Nguyen Ai Quoc was actually ousted by the CPV later on because they viewed him as "too nationalistic" as he advocates for independence first and foremost, disregarding class warfare. Tran Phu, a young communist, basically replaced him by declaring his own manifesto which focused more on class warfare and put workers as the main force for revolution. Under General Secretary Tran Phu, the CPV attempted an early revolution called "The Soviet Nghe - Tinh Uprising" which ended in a disaster and killed most of the "first generation" of communists. Their death also allowed for Nguyen Ai Quoc to return from exile in the Soviet Union. 4. The picture used for "Emperor Bao Dai" is actually of Ngo Dinh Diem, a prominent court official who became the Prime Minister of the State of Vietnam then President of the Republic of Vietnam by ousting Bao Dai in a rigged referendum. 5. During the 300-day free travel period, the Americans organized a propaganda program target at Christians in the North, telling them that the communists would kill them all. This leads to a huge exodus of Northern Christians to the Republic of Vietnam. A huge wave of refugees means problem and by doing this, the US basically begin one of the key dominos that led to the downfall of the First Republic. 6. The first Constitution of Vietnam, the 1946 Constitution, is considered the "most democratic" constitution Vietnam ever has with no emphasis on the role of the CPV. However, due to distrust and infighting, the first unity government collapsed and comes a more powerful CPV who rewrite the constitution to be more communist. 7. Later into the 1960s, Nguyen Ai Quoc (now Ho Chi Minh) was sidelined by the more hardliner faction of the CPV led by Le Duan and Ngo Duc Tho (yes, the one who rejected the Noble Peace Prize). Ho Chi Minh became effectively a figurehead for unity. Ho Chi Minh and his protege, Vo Nguyen Giap (the architect behind the Dien Bien Phu victory), actually favored rebuilding the North to become a beacon of socialism and from then, convince the South to reunite. Le Duan and the hardliners wanted none of that and preferred a war which led to the escalation. 8. Allegedly, in his last year of life, Ho Chi Minh wanted to set aside the war and re-visit the South (where he began his trip to study in France) for the last time before he died. The hardliners refused the request either to protect him or to prevent giving influence to the growing anti-war movement in both the North and the South (more prominent in the latter).

What is your name, beloved soldier? You stood silently like an unyielding fortress Like the sandals beneath your feet, trampling countless enemy corpses Yet firmly advancing towards Saigon. Vietnam! Vietnam! ( Lê Anh Xuân's poem, a " Vietcong" - Tet offensive 1968 - he died in Saigon )

Great job on the video! The Vietnam war is a topic I love seeing discussed, and wish was taught more in depth in US schools (but if we talked in-depth about each country we messed with after WWII, it'd be a multi-year class...)

You are honestly as good or maybe even a bit better than oversimplified in my opinion. You should do a video on the 7 years war, I think it would be interesting to see.

I can see why people say this video looks like oversimplified, but to be fair oversimplified has not yet done a Vietnam war video and there is plenty of history to go around. Also making these videos about history is very difficult so if anything this helps to lighten the load on history, explain channels.
