My grandpa was an operator for many years. He lived next door to us. Without fail every time he got off work no matter what time of day it was, he would come to our house and give all of us grandchildren a big hug and a kiss, even if we were sound asleep. I'll never forget and it always warms my heart to think of how my grandpa smelled of diesel exhaust and bubblegum. Lots of love to The operators out there

Quick tip that I learned the hard way, those ratchets will dig into the side/top of those batteries and wear holes in them. You can put a cedar shim between them and the battery's to keep it from happening
@kipcudd72532 жыл бұрын
Or he can use an old mud flap to put over the batteries and strap them down.
@kipcudd72532 жыл бұрын
Just put it over the case of the battery not the terminals. We did it on all our tractor batteries when we farmed back in the 60's and 70's. Even used baling wire over the rubber flaps, never had a problem. Poor boys have poor ways but they work to get ya by till work slows down enough to get things in the shop.

A Clint’s trick worked. 😉 He started out asking you to “help” him test the rebuilt engine and in the end he didn’t have to come all the way back to NYA not Mr. Millennial’s house to pick it back up. The fact that it was already plumbed up for a ripper was just the Christmas Bonus he wanted too. Now you just need to get the air ride seat out of the “old” 850J to swap it out for the sprung seat in the “new” 850J.
@cheesegrits1962 жыл бұрын
To get a sticker off in the future. Get a stripe remover wheel for a drill. Sort of like a big eraser. The best thing is it gets the sticker and the adhesive at the same time. Cleanup any residue with wax and grease remover. If you ever use one of these you will use nothing else in the future.

As for the lights On the low boy, I wires a small battery in a weather proof box on the back of the trailer with accessory power to keep the battery charged and a switch back there to control the lights. That way it has power for about as long you want to unhook the trailer to be unhooked
@Dean-ry2bh2 жыл бұрын
Hook that battery to a couple of LED strobes , only, battery will last al day.

@tapertrain16142 жыл бұрын
You can get led battery powered amber flashing lights that are magnetic. We use the in the back of hay wagons if we need to use them at night. Amazon has them. Just keep a set on the trailer and use them when you need them.
@wirenut0032 жыл бұрын
Mike all you have to do is put a rubber door mat over the top of the batteries so the metal from the bottom of the seat do not come in contact with them. Or even glue the mat to the bottom of the seat base.
@markpashia70672 жыл бұрын
Seen that old hack many times but it truly works!!! Surprised Jerry did not suggest it. Also loosen those straps and put a wood spanner across the tops so the straps do not eat into the corners of the batteries. Looks like a piece of one by two cut to length would work. Cheap insurance against damaging those battery cases.

The C8500, being a former "guv-mint" vehicle, fully understands the concept of "rode hard and put up wet." It looks to me like it does a pretty good job in a "retirement gig" where it gets a lot better care than it got in it's earler life. I watched a couple of C&C videos last weekend, seems like a pretty good outfit, and hope that "new new" dozer does you a good job.

21:22 Someone needs to trim that tree. Or relocate that flag pole. If I see a flag displayed improperly, I make it known. It amazes me how many businesses and official buildings in my city fail in that department. Everyone has gotten to know me pretty well. So much so that the quality of flags and proper display has been 99% on par. Even private citizens have stepped up their game. I have no problem talking to them in person or leaving a note. It also amazes me how many people have no clue how to properly dispose of a flag, especially Old Glory. I'm the unofficial educator and quality control flag and pole inspector for my city. 😎

There was a reason why C&C equipment gave you that dozer to try out you fell in love, hook line and sinker you bought it. The C8500 is hard to start because of the Heui system, don't get enough oil pressure the injectors don't want to fire. You really want to try dumping couple bottles of Archoil AR9100 into the engine oil.

I honestly feel Matt has a better and more usable area there than if it was pond, with regular mowing he will have something really good to over look. I’d be tempted to build a small single room cabin just on legs off the ground down in that far tree line, what a great place to escape to with a fire in a wood burner and insulation.

APPLYING DECALS: Clean surface 1st then spray surface with glass cleaner again but don’t wipe it off. Apply decal over top window cleaner and squeegee the decal outward from the center. I hate move'n equipment! You gotta have your head on a swivel! Very tiring and it is the most dangerous part of excavating. It doesn't take much to slide a steel tracked machine off the trailer. And, like you said about the cars! The road can be completely deserted, no one around, but start backing or unloading, you'd think you were on the Interstate! Maddening, simply maddening! At 900 hours and a new engine, kind of a hard deal to pass on the 850J. Looking forward to the story of the other 850J! God Bless, Lee
